Well, that's a vomit-worthy daily text. And comment.
It's like, you can do all the research you want - as long as you use the Watchtower Library.

Mistakes about Dates for the End
by Bob_NC inwho has read a recent wt article consenting that "expectations" about the end have not proven to be true?
the article goes on to say that this has not dampened our hope for when the end does come.
the article quotes habbakuk about jehovah's day not being late.

And if the lookout in the fire tower said he saw smoke 15 times, but there was never a fire, he would be fired and replaced with a rational person.
LOL!!! I love it!

Anyone else in "limbo?"
by KitchenWitDinah ini've been out of the organization for about 4 years now, but have been in limbo since i've left.
the more i learn about world religions, the less apt i am to accept anything as truth, since there are so many similarities between so many religions.
i know many cultures have flood myths involving 40-ish days and 8 survivors (the chinese written language has many surprising allusions to biblical stories).

Dinah - I understand the feeling. I haven't been able to find anything to hang my hat on either. I'm ultra suspicious of any organized religion.
Watch the movie "Religulous." It helped me quite a bit.

Wow, that's quite an experience, cobaltcupcake . But your mother ended becoming a JW too, didn't she?
Yup. Can't tell you why she accepted it, but she became the most active of all of us.
But, with my father, resistance was futile. After we had attended a few meetings I asked him one day, "What if I don't want to become a Witness?" He said, "Well, you'll have to anyway." For all I know, Mom may have met with the same answer.

I have a problem with his "we never graduated from High School", nobody I know was told to quit high school to pursue Kingdom activities.
I was in high school in the mid-1970s, and I can tell you right now that it was the "in" thing to quit high school to go pioneering. Almost everyone in my peer group quit school and took night school courses. In fact, many in the congregation questioned my parents about why I continued to go to high school. (I was taking a two-year course in secretarial office practice and needed to finish it.)
My brother combined his junior and senior years together and graduated early.

Lostinthought - Whatever your mom's motives, the cat's out of the bag with an inevitable result - you'll be out, one way or another. I'm sorry you weren't able to fade on your own terms.
Here's a hug.

Greetings from a new member
by EdenOne ingreetings everyone.. just wanted to say hello to everyone, being a new member from western europe.. some may know me from another forum (eden, from e-jehovas-witnesses.com), but most don't, so this is my little intro.. male, in my early 40's.
still an active member in good standing of a jehovah's witnesses congregation in my country, and honestly not planning to change that status, despite my unorthodox beliefs.
sometime i will elaborate the reason why i don't feel i must leave.

Welcome Eden!
Beyond the doctrinal issues, what do you think of the two-witness policy that protects pedophiles in the congregation? Have you read about the Candace Conti case?

My father was always dragging us out in the ministry on holidays. I ha-a-a-a-ted it.
My recent blog post dealt with that subject.
