Some funny/curious quotes from the 2013 Yearbook (part 1)
by cedars ini just thought i'd amuse myself by seeing what madness awaits in the new 2013 yearbook.. you might like to read some of the gems i've uncovered.... .
"true christians are soon to cross into the promised new world, so they need to be courageous and strong.
how soon are we talking about?

For sure, they want people to believe that failure to attend boasting sessions results in your dying in a plane crash. Which happened in Nigeria, where corruption and scams dominate (and things are generally far from safe). The plane could just as easily have gone down onto the Kingdumb Hell
How many of these stories have we heard over the years? What about that KH bombing in Australia years ago? In that instance it would have been better to have been lolling on the couch watching TV at home.

Are you sure that the 70-hour requirement started that long ago? I remember it was still 90 hours a month when I left in 2004.

Good Reasons To Hate Every Weak And Ex-Jehovah Witness.
by AuntConnie in1. my husband's time is finite, it's wasted on spouses arguing over money, sex or family mattters with stupid home visits.. .
i hate people's constant open hand for money, it's the weak individuals asking others to pull their weight.
my family worked extra hours instead of begging the strong members for district assembly money, cat food for seven cats or tiny little rag-a-muffins weiner dogs.. .

Boy, can I relate to Aunt Connie's rant.
I did all that stuff too - elder hubby, pioneering with a car load of old people, taking on the nasty jobs around the KH, etc, etc. My husband was out all the time doing shepherding. We moved to where the need was great, making a huge sacrifice.
Hubby's parents never saw to it that he got trained in a trade (because the NS was coming before he got out of high school - he graduated in 1970) so we were dirt poor most of the time.
My brother, however, was the shining star of the family. He spent 18 years at Bethel and was even allowed to get married while there and bring his wife to Bethel. Even though I was busting my butt to be an exemplary witness while holding down a full-time job, my parents always told me to encourage my brother and sister-in-law because "they work so hard and they are making such a sacrifice." Yeah, they had people to do their cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. but I had to do all that stuff myself.
I finally got fed up with the pedophilia issue, inconsistencies in teachings, lack of love, and other things. I found an online community and built up a network of friends outside of the congregation which made it much easier to leave my family and congregation (and marriage) behind.
It wasn't easy to start over at age 45, but I did it, and I'm so much happier out from under the harsh yoke of being a JW. It takes courage, but you can do it. Let your anger motivate you.
Check out my blog: The Odd Life of Jehovah's Witnesses
I think you'll find some comfort and catharsis there.

Amway
by enigma1863 ini was curious, how many jws end up getting caught up in pyramid scemes like amway.
i was caught up in there online program quixstar for a little while several years ago.
i noticed there are several similarities between amway and a cult..

A pyramid scheme works like this:
You recruit people to sell the product and you receive part of their profit.
Your recruits recruit more people to sell the product, and they get a part of the profit, part of which goes to you.
Keeps on going as each recruit convinces more people join the network. You get a slice of everyone's profit.

Remarkable Statistic - Bible Studies compared to Baptisms
by jwfacts ini am surprised i have not noticed this before, particularly since this is one of the most important statistics, and so have just added the new graphs to watchtower publisher statistics.. the number of bible studies generally trends roughly with the number of publishers on a one to one basis.
however, the number of baptisms has not been rising.
this has resulted in a rapidly falling conversion rate.

When my brother and I got baptized in January of 1974 at a circuit assembly with 2000 people in attendance, there were 119 people baptized, most of whom were teenagers with frantic parents (like mine).
When we all marched out of the auditorium it took so long that they had to have the audience sing 2 songs. I wonder how often that scenario was repeated that year.

My ex-in-laws were always pushing some pyramid scheme on my ex and me.
We started to get into Amway. Then we went to one of their sales rallies, and it was like a tent revival meeting. We were totally creeped out.
Too bad I couldn't see the similarities between Amway and the bOrg.

I love the fact that it's on a BMW. The best revenge is living well.
