My answer would be, "Why are you talking to me in the first place?"

Why did the Watchtower force the Witnesses to study this book three or four times?
They wanted us to use a fresh book for each time through. I had done tons of research and scribbled it in the margins. No way, Jose. The third time through I started noticing some inconsistencies. That was instrumental in my awakening.

Disturbing new YouTube video showing Anthony Morris's approach to teenage baptism
by cedars inif anyone was under the illusion that all baptized jw children become dedicated solely of their own volition, then hopefully this new video should be a wake-up call.. .
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plgbjdgoj-u.
(unfortunately, due to the soundtrack i've chosen, this video is apparently banned in germany.

Wow, that video brought it all back! My brother and I were 12 and 14 when we were pressured into getting baptized in 1974. My family was new in the cult and my father had totally bought the 1975 hype. He couldn't have pushed us more forcefully if he'd had an electric cattle prod.

BROTHERS & SISTERS - READ THE BROCHURE!
by The Searcher injesus always used illustrations to help people reason on the import of what he was saying.
here is an illustration followed by a reality;.
imagine that your heart went out to all those poor people who suffered when fukushima blew up, so much so, that when an internationally renowned charity asked for donations to help those in need, you donated $5000 to the cause.

Holy cats! That is disgusting. They're making a profit off the backs of volunteers and the hapless householder, not to mention committing insurance fraud into the bargain.
I learned the Society was money grubbing when I quit pioneering way back in the days when we paid for literature and pioneers got a cheaper rate.
A few months after I resigned as a pioneer I got a letter from the Society requesting that I tally up the discount I got on my leftover literature and send it to them by way of the contribution box. I was stunned. Seriously? I was flat broke, so I didn't do it and felt not one scintilla of guilt.

I'm new here
by WrongweektostopsniffingGlue ini haven't got much of a story.
i'm in my late teens, grew up in it, and got out of the society's regime by the skin of my teeth.
nearly go baptized because i firmly did believe it was the "truth" but because of a gut feeling that held me back, that i almost ignored, i didn't sign my blood to big brother.

Bethel Laying Off
by Bob_NC incan anyone comment on whether bethel is laying people off?
as in, sending folks out of bethel to go pioneer somewhere?
i have heard rumors but would like more detail.

I know a couple for whom serving in Bethel was their one and only ambition, the only goal that they had in life. They got accepted.
A few years later she developed lupus.
That sounds a lot like my brother and his wife. My brother had been at Bethel for 6 years when he was allowed to get married and bring his pioneer wife to Bethel. They were there 12 years before she developed lupus and they had to leave. I never heard the details from my hard-line company-man brother, but he made it sound like it was their decision. They ended up moving to Maui, which is where she is from.
My brother had risen far - Bethel elder, running the water treatment/sewage treatment plant at Watchtower Farm, so I never thought that he would have been asked to leave. They'd invested a lot of money and training in him for classes and certification. Then again, she couldn't physically cope with her housekeeping job. In fact, I remember visiting them, and she took a nap instead of eating lunch. She was fast becoming dead weight.
Knowing what I know now about the coldheartedness of the Society it seems more likely to me that they were given the boot. Little bro is still staunch, an elder in his congregation, but I haven't seen him or spoken to him in 9 years, so I don't really know.
