7-8000 hours in the ministry = 1 baptized. Ridiculous.

Xmas, love it or leave it??
by DATA-DOG ini have to say that i’m not enjoying the xmas season.
i have no emotional ties and i’m spending money that i have not set aside for xmas during a slow work season for my trade.. i’m not happy about it, because it’s foolish to spend money when you aren’t making any.
then i feel like i’m expected to do all this, and to be happy about spending money and time on persons that i’m not that involved with.

We're in the same boat.
We've been out for a relatively short time after having been in for a lifetime.
DATA-DOG used the word "triggering". Several in my family are triggered by all the non-JW stuff, esp this Christmas.
At times I wonder if the desire to buy gifts or string some white lights is just our minds way of giving the middle finger to JW life because the idea of sinking our funds into the commercialized holiday cycles.
Right now we've agreed to love the holidays for time off work/school, to regroup and relax (or try to anyway).
Its like the bus just let me and the family off in the middle of Yellowstone. Its beautiful but where in the #$%^$# are we?

Hey NeatBlueDog....OMG "and we leave this in you care and keeping..."
My wife and I, if we were holding hands and the brother included that in his closing prayer, she would squeeze my hand so hard in disgust and pretty much invalidate the entire prayer, then we would both leave off the amen. Barf.
Of course our actions went contrary to the 03/2019 study WT P.31:

How did I miss this gem!?
Backstory anyone?
I was sitting in the administration office during the second half of the very day this video was shot. The commotion in administration started about an hour before the final song/prayer. The attendant overseer, Kevin Beck, summoned all his lead men and gave direction to do what you seen in the video +/-. Lead men disseminated via text message to all attendants and naturally all other narcissistic non appointed male delegates jumped on the band wagon. By the time the convention overseer got a handle on what was happening it was so out of control and emotional he could do nothing about it. Poor Kevin was considered the ultimate idiot by many of us elders for months to follow and likened to Uzzah who in the Bible meant well but..you know the outcome.
More backstory you ask? Sure.
The attendant overseer mentioned above (and COBE in his Dunwoody, GA cong) also had a part on the convention, the Watchtower Study. He had his wife and daughter up on the stage along with others providing canned answers and reading scriptures. There he was on the stage, with his family for 30 minutes, in front of 10,000 people and during the same time frame was sleeping with another brothers wife! Whoo hoo!
All has since come to light, he is DF'ed and wife divorced him. His family were major player$ in the Atlanta JW corporation. His daddy would be rolling over in his grave right now.
I could go on. What a flash back.

Do you have any assembly memories/stories?
by RisingEagle inon an earlier thread about ice cream i remembered a snack that was sold at assemblies and that started me thinking about some of my memories of childhood at conventions/assemblies.
i guess it was the taste/smell association because even today when i go to various convention halls for home improvement expos, car shows and the like it takes me right back to the past.
i have many memories wrapped around the conventions and experienced different things because i have lots of elders in the family that were used, literally, for food service, the accounting office, security and dramas.

JW elders stumped by Watchtower Publications
by Roger Kirkpatrick ini was approached by two jehovah’s witness elders who handed me a pamphlet advertising the jw .org website.
each man carried a bible and an apple ipad.
they told me that they enjoyed visiting with people about the bible, and asked if i was a bible reader.

Perhaps...

Coming out of the Woodwork
by Solzhenitsyn inwho was i to think that we would be left alone?
it has been a dream for 2+ months.
a few calls i let go to voicemail but now the wife and i are getting bombarded with text messages.. this isn't going to be easy.. since we're not looking to throw a grenade into decades of relationships, text replies thus far have been..."thank you so much.".

But I know what is currently curiosity and or outright concern will turn into an Inquisition.

When 2 want to visit.
by stillin insome of the local witnesses have been by, periodically, to check on us and say that they miss us.
i consider that a decent thing to do since they figure that we're going to die any day now from the loving god.
some have been elders, who have to always stay distant so that they don't somehow get contaminated by being too nice to us.

The Fall Guy + StehpaneLaliberte are dead on the money correct.
Before I quit recently I personally had to meet with CO + legal on a conf call re: an appeal case I was chairman on.
We were flat out reprimanded for "establishing a matter" with what turned out to be only one on the investigation. We assigned 2 to investigate. Turned out only one actually heard the confession and verbally TOLD the second elder who conviently left out this fact when the initial JC convened.
The (alledged) perp had his D/F decision overturned on appeal due to this technicality. Brilliant! Was like a Jason Bourne movie without the action scenes.
God I'm so glad to be done with all this crap.
