I also dont know if they in 1914 preached a coming BIG WAR (that's unsure ) or generally preached a coming tribulation or if they simply preached the good news and the END of the system of things.(thats sure). I should read the sermons of him.

Contempory witness Frederick William Franz ( 1893-1992) the later president of WT was a young biblestudent in 1914.
In a lecture that he gave at bethel about the history of gods people in the 1980s he spoke in his own words and with the language of the biblestudents they used about 1914 about how they understood the happenings and what should happen in the year 1914 as well and this talk gives a good impression about how the biblestudents grasped this year and how they interpreted the happenings.

As he awaited that the world outside would be destroyed and a worldy education and getting a job outside in the world would have made no sense for him he ended his academic career.

Well October the first came, and I recall how the bethel family was gathered for the morning meal and down comes Brother Russel and before taking his place at the head of the table he stopped, he clapped his hands to get the attention of the whole family and he quoted words from a song that we had in our old songbooks „The gentile times have ended for the kings have had there day“.

So it was merely the impressions of the biblestudents themselves, their PERCEPTION of the events ... but for them that was of most importance... not history books that would be written later or political analysis of that time.
No political analysis of the events was behind the biblestudenst hope and awaiting but bibleprophecy, a certain own PERCEPITON that the world was 1914 all peacably until summer 1914, a war was FOR THEM unlikely (their perception) and that only after the shot, the news and after all nations got involved that was seen as acknowledgment or as sign(?) ----- There it is ---
that the end of the system would come certainly and very soon now in Fall 1914.

But they awaited something to happen...wars certainly and tribulation....and something REALLY happened although accidently (so may we understand it today) but for them it was a very dramatic experience of the truth of gods word, since the whole world began to destroy itself.

Awaiting - preaching - shot- news- nations involved - world in tribulation,
russel said the time of the nations are fulfilled. For Russel it was the acknowledgment that the Kings have had their day and now Christ Jesus was king.
That is the reason why the date 1914 remained so long very important for J.W.s, perhaps a factor was also that the shot happend during the convention at Columbus

The biblical terms „end of system of hings“ = Harmagedon = return of christ = coming of Christ = tribulation should have all happend in 1914, as only one event after the end the awaited kingdom of christ on earth should start after 1914. So there was little time for a worldwide tribulation before 1914 if up to june there was no sign at all.

The orbiter is in best shape today but the landing modul Schiaparelli could be lost, It was a test landing modul, the date of descent could be measured and were sent to earth.
The data have been partially analysed and confirm that the entry and descent stages occurred as expected, with events diverging from what was expected after the ejection of the back heat shield and parachute. This ejection itself appears to have occurred earlier than expected, but analysis is not yet complete.
The thrusters were confirmed to have been briefly activated although it seems likely that they switched off sooner than expected, at an altitude that is still to be determined.

The orbiter has to to yet some import tasks. Even if the landing modul Schiaprellis lost much success !
SCIENCE OBJECTIVES
The Orbiter will be used to investigate trace gases with the following scientific objectives:
Deliver a detailed characterisation of the Martian atmosphere's composition.
This includes mapping the distribution of trace gases, identifying their sources and sinks, and studying geographical and temporal variability.The first scientific goal will be to detect a broad suite of atmospheric trace gases, and key isotopologues (molecules that have at least one atom with a different number of neutrons than the parent molecules), to establish the atmospheric inventory.
Following a positive detection of key species, geographical (location and altitude) and seasonal mapping will be carried out. Mapping of the Deuterium/Hydrogen ratio will also be performed, to provide new information on water reservoirs and atmospheric escape.
A third goal is characterising the state of the atmosphere, in particular temperatures, aerosols, water vapour, and ozone. The data assimilation technique adopted by the science team will allow them to model the atmospheric circulation. This will help determine whether particular gases are emanating from specific areas on Mars and to provide insights into the nature of the trace gas source.
Imaging of surface features
Another important objective is to image and to characterise features on the Martian surface which may be related to trace gas sources. The data should provide information on the geological and dynamical context (such as volcanism) for any sources detected.
Mapping of subsurface hydrogen
The final objective is to map the subsurface hydrogen to a depth of one metre, with a resolution ten times better than previous measurements.
INSTRUMENTS IN BRIEF
The Trace Gas Orbiter, manufactured in Europe, will carry a science payload of four instruments:
NOMAD – Nadir and Occultation for MArs Discovery NOMAD combines three spectrometers, two infrared and one ultraviolet, to perform high-sensitivity orbital identification of atmospheric components, including methane and many other species, via both solar occultation and direct reflected-light nadir observations. First, note that Jesus is teaching by means of an illustration. Obviously, he is not talking about separating literal sheep from literal goats. Likewise, he is not saying that each individual judged to be a sheep must literally feed, clothe, nurse, or visit one of his brothers in prison. Rather, he is illustrating the attitude that the figurative sheep display toward his brothers. He describes the sheep as “righteous” because they recognize that Christ has a group of anointed brothers still on earth, and the sheep loyally support the anointed during these critical last days.—Changing doctrines about when this atrocy will take place have to be swallowed without contradiction
