Dubs badmouthing children

i was remembering the 1980s when it was in vogue to shun children.

they went through a fad when they'd call unbaptized excommunication as "disassociation".

within a short period of time, most of the teens and preteens were "disassociated" or disfellowshipped.

the very first followers of jesus were drawn to him no doubt for a variety of reasons, but stayed mainly because they had taken on board the faith that he held.. they witnessed him and his faith in action, so they came to believe as he did.. long after his death, and the death of most, if not all, of those that knew him, this gradually transformed from holding the same faith as him, to having a belief in him.

this resulted in claims for his divinity etc.

my question to you is, is it not more important that you hold the same faith as he did, rather than the much vaunted belief in him, because you cannot be "in union" with him if your faith differs from his, surely ?.

The deal breaker for me is the bible accounts that Jesus claimed to believe in have been totally debunked, therefore he could not possibly be anything than just another wishful thinker.

Where in the bible do you base this from?...Could you give me the account in the Bible?

Phizzy, Faith and Belief are two completely different things. Somone can believe in Jesus and his existance etc, but he may not have faith in Christ as being their Savior.

I think that james is right here. Christ didn't need faith, why would Jesus need faith?

Why I truly come in!

hello everyone.... i would honestly like to share why i come to this site when i am able to.. i too, like many here spent my whole life inside the wt along with my husband who was born in.

(i was 6) we have raised three wonderful sons now 27, 23, 21 who the youngest was almost 7 when we left and we were disfellowshipped.

(for so-called apostacy of course)and since then all of us partake of the christ by eating and drinking the manna and his blood.

I was never baptized into the organization but I was raised as a jw, and I know how horrible the org can be.

How do I hear/feel God?

this is a serious question.. i know people that hear/feel god (and see postings about people's experiences), but i have not experienced this.

i have never heard anything audibly (or otherwise) nor "felt" anything inwardly.. i've prayed, read, quieted my thoughts, etc...but still nothing..

I agree with Indian on this one. People waking up to TATT don't need those kind of comments! They need sympathy and Love, which clearly most of you here are not showing love or compassion.

doinmypart, I am not sure if you have faith in God or not, but nevertheless. There are many other ways to tell his presence in someone, such as love , joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. If you are manifesting these things, then you are feeling God in Your life.

i don't believe we really know everything about god or the afterlife.

i do believe that we do transform to something beyond our physical comprehension.

The term Christian today is used to describe everyone that supposedely believes in God but people who claim to be Christians don't prove it threw their conduct and actions. They usually behave worse than people who don't believe in God. Go figure!

I discovered that actions speak louder than words. For example, I know a born again Christian woman who slept with her stepdaughter's husband and stole thousands of dollars from a savings account set up for her own children. And I know atheists, who not only would never dream about doing things like that, but also do productive things to help other people. -jamiebowers
