Secret Watchtower Letter: PARENTS HAVE MAIN RESPONSIBILITY FOR CHILD'S SAFETY
by steve2 inin a separate thread, cedar's response to the watchtower's hot-off-the-secret-press-to-elders letter on child abuse is featured.
cedar's article is a powerful, well-composed overview of that letter.. tellingly, in the watchtower letter you will not find any direct exhortation requiring parents to first go to the elders when their child discloses sex abuse.
no, the watchtower is much too clever to directly state what parents should or should not do.

D-Hole,
I thought of that too. You could be right. I never thought they would say such a thing about the " normal " anointed, but I did wonder if GB would have a secret way of choosing thier members. Twister and beer-bong maybe??!! Your theory sounds crazy, but...nothing shocks me anymore! If they could find a specific scripture to give them the authority to do the actual choosing of who is anointed they would. Since they can't, unless they decide to include some non-canonical stuff of thier choosing, the next best thing is to turn up the heat, and condemn any who disagree with the GB, or can't keep pace with the Org. It's easy, not pioneering, not a Bethel, then they obviously cannot be anointed, at best you are a weak [ other sheep ], I mean just look at the sorry spiritual fruitage of some of these [ other sheep ]! Thank God we are not sinners like them!

Timing of new "faithful & discreet slave class" teaching
by sir82 inthe following is pure, 100% speculation, but i think it's fun to do anyway..... .
as has been posted on numerous threads, the "biggie" coming out of the annual meeting this past weekend is that now the "faithful and discreet slave" is considered to be the jw governing body only - not "all anointed nes on earth".. and has been posted, it seems that the most recent direct statement of the "old light" - that the fds is composed of "all anointed" - was made in 2009.. so that makes me think - what happened between 2009 & 2012 to elicit such a change?.
both jack barr & ted jaracz - the last of the "old guard" - died in 2010.. the gb went from 9 members down to 7.. assuming that the "2/3 majority" rule as written about by ray franz was still in effect, this scenario seems plausible:.

Could be? Why would Jaracz care? He was Mr. " two witness rule " till he died. I know it is just speculation... Increased partakers and the internet have got to factor in.

The "Domestics" now include the Great Crowd
by RubaDub injust got off the phone with an old friend who attends the annual meeting every year.. in addition to the fds changes, the domestics now include both the remnant and the great crowd.. seems like an easy way of minimizing the importance of those who partake of the emblems today.. rub a dub.

It doesn't change anything except cause more dissonance and it will get the rank-and -file ready to accept massive df'ings under the guise of cleansing the organization. Thank God for the Amazing 8!!!

Will there be a renewed sense of urgency for JWs in 2013?
by JimmyPage inafter all, 2014 will be 100 years of christ's invisible reign.
the average jw must be thinking that surely means something.
will we see enthusiasm on a scale not seen since the mid 70s?

2 months of "intensive training". Anybody know what it is?
by donny ini am in dallas for the week and my mom informed me that my 32 year old son, who is an elder in a spanish congregation, told her that he and his wife are going to los angeles for 2 months for some "intensive training" and afterwards they may return to dallas or be reassigned elsewhere.
he said it was not missionary work, but it was something new the society was doing.
any clues as to wht this "new" thing is?

The WTS has said the FDS predates 1919

8-12a slave who is both faithful and discreetwho really is the faithful and discreet slave whom his master appointed over his domestics?matthew 24:45.. on tuesday afternoon, nisan 11, 33 c.e., jesus disciples raised a question that has profound meaning for us today.
they asked him: what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?

But not anymore, if the rumors are true. Now the FDS is from 1919 onward?

Ok, I am confused, don't these two paragraphs contradict each other?
5 Well, might the term "faithful and discreet slave" apply in a general sense to each individual Christian? It is true that all Christians must be faithful and discreet; however, Jesus clearly had something more in mind when he spoke of "the faithful and discreet slave." How do we know that? Because he said that the "master on arriving" would appoint the slave "over all his belongings." How could each individual Christian be placed over everything-over "all" of the Lord's belongings? Impossible!
6The only reasonable conclusion, then, is that Jesus was referring to a group of Christians as "the faithful and discreet slave." Can there be such a thing as a composite slave? Yes. Seven hundred years before Christ, Jehovah referred to the entire nation of Israel as "my witnesses" and "my servant whom I have chosen." (Isaiah 43:10) Every member of the nation of Israel from 1513 B.C.E., when the Mosaic Law was given, down to Pentecost 33 C.E. was part of this servant class. Most Israelites did not have a direct share in administering the nation's affairs or in coordinating its spiritual feeding program. Jehovah used the kings, judges, prophets, priests, and Levites to carry out those tasks. Still, as a nation, Israel was to represent Jehovah's sovereignty and tell his praises among the nations. Each Israelite was to be a witness of Jehovah.-Deuteronomy 26:19; Isaiah 43:21; Malachi 2:7; Romans 3:1, 2.
GROUP : a : a number of individuals assembled together or having some unifying relationship.
COMPOSITE : : combining the typical or essential characteristics of individuals making up a group <the composite man called the Poet - Richard Poirier>
So according to paragraph 5 it is impossible to have a group made of individuals as a composite FDS. Yet the individual Jews did make up a composite nation of " Witnesses " or a composite " servant, in paragraph 6. This is given as the only reasonable explanation. So is it reasonable to conclude that a small group of " Christians ", lets say 8, make up a composite FDS, yet a larger number cannot? With God all things are possible according to the Bible. Why can't God use 1 or thousands to assist the Congregation? A composite is a composite however you look at it. Of course we know the WT does not believe the "great crowd" of [ other sheep ] are part of the Congregation, which scripturally is the body of Christ. They should include all who claim sonship with God. Hey, we all know they don't really care what makes sense, or what the scriptures say. This was just on my mind.
