  i would have to say that ray franz was the biggest influence for me.. when i first got on this board, a poster by the name of james, a former bethelite and organization heavy, helped me understand a lot of the inner workings in the upper echelons of the society.. .

  and of course, farkel's common sense approach was (usually) helpful..

  Favorite apostate: Ray Franz and Ron Frye. On JWN: King Solomon (who hasn't posted in ages) every post this guy made were huge truth bombs and I envy his knowledge. JWFacts and YouTube (Truth4jws, Brock- Context Ministries/Ex Gilead Missionary) helped me come to TTATT.

  i think they know what they don't believe in, like no blood, no hellfire, no trinity....but they really couldn't explain what their beliefs are and why they believe as they do.

  minimus you are 100% correct. It's more about what you reject rather than what you fully subscribe to. I had no clue how we arrived at 1914, Jesus not being mediator for all, or even the 1919 appointment. It was all news to me when I discovered Ray Franz books.

  a jw wrote the following in an attempt to discredit the evidence provided by vat 4956. comments on the author's logic would be appreciated.

  does vat 4956 prove 587?.

  many point to vat 4956 as proof that jerusalem was desolated in 587bce.

  tonight on the service meeting we discussed why jws are not false prophets.

  of the ten minute part two were spent discussing that jws just had wrong expectations and only very minor changes over the years although nothing specific was mentioned.

  the other eight focused on the core bible truths that have remained the same over the years.

  i got to thinking about all the strange interpretations in the old revelation climax book now that i have perused it again on pdf.

  does anyone care to toss in their two cents on what are the most outrageous and/or ridiculous claims in it?.

  I was 7 years old when we studied this book. I remember just looking at the pictures each time, never understanding what the heck everyone was talking about. I do remember the picture of the bandana people though, it always made me laugh. Looking at it now as an adult, it wreaks of stereotypes and propaganda.

  good evening folks!

  we have encountered this advice countlessly on wt study articles.

  this especially comes out to ease the waiting pain of brothers eagerly waiting for god's new world and the end of the old system of things - with all the sufferings that go along with it.. i also noticed this being floated to try to extend the patience of brothers who are jumping ahead of the organization in terms of thinking - as if they are pre-empting the organization on certain sensitive views and issues.. if a brother has gotten an idea or insight that is far more superior than the present affairs in the society, or regarded as way in advance - he can be branded as a brother "not in order".

  "God works in mysterious ways" from non Jws.

  @notjustyet, that is so true! JWs get real uppity when "Trinitarians" pull out the ole "God is a mystery" saying. Works the same exact way.
