  i have no idea what is going to happen but they had been shunning me and i called to tell her what i see in the scriptures about the faithful slave.

  all of it up to the very end she said okay what's the point, the scripture at the very end is what triggered it.

  but read it all in order.

  How Did God Communicate His 1914 Decision?

  is the organization a self-appointed group of people and is it any better or worse than the rest of christendom?

  and why does it avoid the use of the term church?.

  one fascinating thing is that the wbts has repeatedly published the claim that in 1914, jesus returned invisibly and inspected all the religions then on the earth.

  Thats where you go for the jugular and strictly discuss "Jehovah's organization" the Faithful and Discreet slave. It's that authority which determines his faith and reasoning. If you remove the authority then you really don't have to get into a debate about 607 or any other rubbish.

  i came across a mormon "sisters" blog...reading through some of her missionary experiences, it sounded so much like jw pioneer "sis" relating hers.

  just swap out some of the cult-language words and it's suddenly a jw experience of sharing "bible truths" with some poor worldly sap.. here's an taste of it:.

  for me, i think it's that the witnesses teach they are god's spokesman.

  they represent his "faithful & discreet slave"....and that they alone are expounders of the only truth and that if you disagree with anything they teach, you are considered worse than vomit.. it's unbelievable because these people are wrong so many times, it cannot be excused!.

  as a witness, you must accept every viewpoint and if you (and your family) do not accept it all, hook, line and sinker, you are "apostates"!!!.

  I have to agree with XBEHERE, the guilt levied against the congregation was unbearable. Every meeting is a lecture on what else to feel terrible about. I especially felt depressed when I would miss service for a few weeks, "if you don't go out in service you can become blood guilty for some who die at Armageddon."

  My 2 cents regarding what Farkel said, the dating options really are scarce and the attractive ones are normally very dysfunctional or have very unrealistic expectations.

  All scripture is inspired of god...which scripture?

  don't know why but was thinking of 2 timothy 3:16 last night (you know 'all scripture is inspired of god etc').

  i was thinking this scripture is used by the jws as well as others to say that the bible is the word of god.

  however, as the bible is a construct several hundred years after the death of christ each writer was unaware of the bible as a whole.

  I found some bible scholar commentaries to be very helpful with this subject and scripture.

  Barnes' Notes on the Bible

  "All Scripture - This properly refers to the Old Testament, and should not be applied to any part of the New Testament, unless it can be shown that that part was then written, and was included under the general name of "the Scriptures;" compare 2 Peter 3:15-16. But it includes the whole of the Old Testament, and is the solemn testimony of Paul that it was all inspired. If now it can be proved that Paul himself was an inspired man, this settles the question as to the inspiration of the Old Testament."

  Clarke's Commentary on the Bible

  "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God - This sentence is not well translated; the original πασα γραφη θεοκνευστος ωφιλιμος προς διδασκαλιαν, κ. τ. λ. should be rendered: Every writing Divinely inspired is profitable for doctrine, etc. The particle και, and, is omitted by almost all the versions and many of the fathers, and certainly does not agree well with the text. The apostle is here, beyond all controversy, speaking of the writings of the Old Testament, which, because they came by Divine inspiration, he terms the Holy Scriptures, 2 Timothy 3:15; and it is of them alone that this passage is to be understood; and although all the New Testament came by as direct an inspiration as the Old, yet, as it was not collected at that time, not indeed complete, the apostle could have no reference to it."

  Theses scholars were bible believing Christians to top it off.

  The NT wasn't put together until 361 AD, a good 300 years after this scripture was actually written. Irenaeus of Lyons used some poor logic and analogies to conclude that only 4 gospels should be included in the NT. He reasoned that since there were 4 winds and 4 corners of the earth, then there should only be 4 gospels. Also if you read Bart Ehrman's "Misquoting Jesus", "Jesus Interrupted", or "Forged", you will also see how the NT is not without contradiction, error or corruption. This especially helped me toss the whole 1914 argument out the window when I realize they placed random scriptures together from the OT and NT to develop some ridiculous divine mathematical equation because, "All scripture is inspired".
