Well, I am not a Bart Ehrman apologist, but I have read his book and agree with many of his points on the inspiration or presuppositions made about the bible. That video you just posted really doesn't touch the entire subject of the book and just relegates everything to a book Dan Wallace wrote. Here is a debate between this scholar Dan Wallace and Bart Ehrman. Ehrman argues against Christian foundamentalism, not the Christian faith.

Somebody just recently uploaded Bart Ehrman's early christianity lectures onto YouTube, I would suggest anyone interested in this topic to check it out. His lectures start from the completion of the NT and end at 325 Nicene counsel. Ehrman is one of THE authorities on the subject and a great teacher.

The Governing Body Rewrites the Organizations Past and Future History
by Cameron_Don inwatchtower annual meeting report.
october 6, 2012. during their annual meeting the governing body announced some changes in their interpretation of (1) the most important scripture in watch-tower theology, and (2) the most important event in watchtower history.
are their changes new light according to proverbs, or refinement according to daniel and malachi?

Thanks Don, I started a topic on this a month or so ago and it appears great minds think alike :) I felt this new teaching is to reduce some of the gapping wholes found in the doctrine. Especially the lunatic food Jesus would have approved of during the 1919 inspection.

1914 - It was the end of the world as we knew it - things got much better!
by TheStumbler ini was having a conversation with a jw relative recently i casually mentioned how much better the world is than a few centuries.
obviously the jw was incredulous.
the next day i found an email in my inbox listing a few qoutes from notable people saying how the world has gotten much worse since 1914 and that 1914 was a pivitol year.

Great email stumblir. I would have posed the question, "Would you rather have lived in 1900 without air conditioning or now?" open and shut case, Johnson.

What was the worst thing an "elder" ever did to you ?
by Pitchess Co-Gen inthe worst thing an "elder" ever did to me was in 2008. i was in one congregation, but i wanted to return to my home congregation because i've been reproved there twice ( once private and the last one public ).
when i came into this congregation in 2007 i thought i was going to move up the food chain ( this congregation was full of older people, so i thought i would move up faster ).
but i got into some trouble in the congregation.

I had a COBE from an old spanish congregation tell a good friend of mine to be very cautious of me because (and im serious here) I wore sandals with blue jeans to a graduation party. We all thought it was hilarious.
However...this elder one day began telling all the JW's who worked for him (including my friend) that I had confessed my gayness to several elders in the english congregation. What is so stupid about all this is that I didn't attend this COBE's hall since I was a child! I went to the graduation party with my then girlfriend. He didnt know anything about me or had conversations with me in years! So upon hearing this I called him up and confronted him about these comments. COBE got real loud, defensive, and talked down to me. I then threatened to set-up a meeting with him and his Circuit Overseer for slander. After notifiying him that I had witnesses willing to testify about his remarks he got really panicky and denied everything. COBE then made an emergency home visit with me and my family which included the presence of my good friend testifying against him. Of course he found himself in a tough spot and began having amnesia, claiming he didn't remember saying any of it. COBE then proceeded to kiss my ass and my family's ass, even bringing up, what should be, confidential information regarding brothers confessing their homosexuality. In the end, we felt pity for him as he was shaking and trembling the entire visit, although we knew he was lying we let it go. COBE left our home and we never heard from that guy again.
