I agree with an important date. A protest would be more effective if it was done when they are holding there memorial. But not just in one congregation but in maybe whole bunch throughout the country. This way it would have a much bigger impact especially since they have a lot of visitors that night.

What would you do for next November 5?
by Faded ini think everything has to start somewhere, and you can see the passion and commitment from those loyal 50 that showed up in warwick yesterday.
the event was not very well organized but you could see the passion & dedication from most of them.
and i think they at least touched a couple of people at the kh yesterday.. having an annual day of action actually inspires me.

Attitude in Kingdom Hall vs. in church
by Yesu Kristo Bwana Wangu inso, today i went to a different church than the jw's for the first time in over three years.. it is a protestant african church.
my first thoughts: for people who are 'trapped in babylon the great (according to watchtower) these people really seem genuingly happy and sincere in their adoration for god.
what a freedom compared to the witnesses!

I went to a small church with my cousin and the people scared me. I felt like they were trying to love bomb me. I quick learned that they truly cared about me. After about two years I tried a mega church, they were even more friendly than the first church. They had a meeting for about an hour after the service to tell you about the church. It seemed like a sales pitch. I was wrong. Everything they said about the church was true. I've been going there ever since, and I love it there. Both churches were 100x better than any KH.

Trenton NJ Convention... Some Brief mpressions
by Room 215 inpeak attendance (sunday): 5,645; 26 baptized.
general impression: "convention light"-- i.e.
entertainment value:(previously nil) now enhanced by leavening the boring talks with interspersed video.

0.46% baptism rate. That's the best part of twice as good as some other results we've seen. NJ must be bathing in the light of extraordinary JW growth.
I find that number deplorable for a group that boasts about there preaching. About 2 weeks ago our church had a baptism. They have about 3500 people in attendance. We had 135 people get baptized. That means about 4% of the attendance got baptized. Our church DOESN'T GO FROM DOOR TO DOOR. The people just come. They have on average 30 new people join the church a month.
The JW's have nothing to brag about.

Had a weird love-bombing throwback today......
by dubstepped inmy wife is having her first birthday party in july, and we're looking for a place to hold it.
we found an episcopal church online that offered their fellowship hall for such occasions, and we went to check it out this morning.
when we arrived they were having something in the hall and were setting up for it.

I wouldn't worry about them being friendly. I had the same experience when I visited a church with my cousin. I thought they were to friendly. It scared me. I went back the following week and the former pastor invited me over for a meal after church. By this time I was convinced it was love bombing. Later that week I went to there bible study group. The person who was overseeing the group told us about his wife having breast cancer. The following Sunday at church they called her before the church and showed GENUINE concern for her. It showed me they were like that to everyone.
Later I checked out another church. Again they were to friendly. It scared me. I went back the following week for a service and went to a program in the evening. I talked with the head pastor and told him my concerns. He looked at me and said, "GonzoX you take as much time as you need." Those were the best words that he could have said. I felt relaxed. It told me they were after people and not after members. I have been going there ever since. I love going there. I now look forward to Sunday's.
Find a church where they make you feel like your apart of a family and you will be happy. In time, if this church doesn't feel like home, then keep looking.

Did Jesus attend a "worldly celebration"?
by Westenddave inhello community,.
my question in a nutshell is whether there is justification in celebrating worldly holidays, such as the 4th of july in the usa?.
let's look at a parallel.

At this time in early Christian history, Jesus didn't have proper instructions from the Watchtower to tell him what he could and couldn't do.

How did you find the truth? - the loaded question.
by user100 inhad dinner this weekend with a jw family and met a bunch of new jws.
one of them who was not very talkative at all and out of the blue asked me how i found "the truth".
i answered how my family has always been starting with my great grandfather.. then he clarified his question.. he said something about how this is a great question and people always talk about their spiritual heritage.

Was There Anything You Actually Enjoyed About Being A JW?
by MrFreeze ini'm sure this question has been raised a lot but it is always good to look back.
the last 5 or 6 years of me being a jw, i did not have a very good go of it.
one thing i actually did enjoy was going to the international convention.
