Good points here. The first thing I thought of is that you can surrender your licence, let it expire and stop driving with what consequence? You will not lose family and "friends". To compare having authorization to operate a machine to dedicating your life to a group that holds shunning over you is crazy. I got baptized at 12. I remember years ago how they said the deciscions making frontal cortex of the brain was not developed until 25 and you should not make the commitment of marriage before then. I guess they were right. The two worst deciscions of my life were made at age 12 and 19. Getting baptized into a cult and marrying a cult member. Now at 27 I do feel more mature and also feel I have fucked up my life royally from those decisions. -

June JW Broadcast - Jehovah's & Jesus' names Are Interchangeable!
by The Searcher inmr. geoffrey jackson hosts this month's propaganda-fest, and uses a favourite catchphrase of the org - "by extension" - to get out of the dead-end which the scriptwriters had put him in.
he quotes matthew 10:22 - "and you will be objects of hatred by all people on account of my [jesus'] name; but he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved.".
mr. jackson knows only too well that probably no j.w.

The Bible says to NOT GO BEYOND WHAT IS WRITTEN. Extending or by extension MEANS to go beyond something! How much more obvious can this get? -

Suggested comment to add when answering at the meetings
by stuckinarut2 ininspired by the humour in cappytan's thread, i thought of a way those who are still forced to attend meetings can have some fun.... especially with the increase in articles with topics about "listen, obey and be blessed", a subtle method of having fun would be to substitute the expression "the governing body" wherever "jehovah" "jesus" is said.. imagine an answer such as this:.
"yes, this paragraph helps us to see how vital it is to listen and obey the governing body".
"yes, our strict obedience to the governing body is a way to show how much we love them".

I honestly believe that all you would get after that comment is commendation and approval. After all that IS what they believe and what they do everyday! Why dont they celebrate birthdays, go to college, or accept and refuse certain fractions of blood? Because the babble says it or because the GB says it?
Even the simplified WT has come out and bluntly stated that we must OBEY christs brothers in order to be approved by Jehoober. Your comment, although more blunt than usual would be greeted by the usual zombie like head bobbing.

The "Final Push" before the GT!!! I think they REALLY believe it!
by DATA-DOG ini don't know if i have shared this with everyone, but there seems to be a new theocratic term, at least in my circuit.. the term is "final push.
" wtf does it mean?
well, an eldub said that the gb are "all in" with warwick and they might spend all their money on the project.

That article never gets old.
Another great part of JWs "spiritual heritage" is that it was said in 1941 that the end was "months" away!
WT 9/15/41
"Receiving the gift (the book Children), the marching children clasped it to them, not a toy or a plaything for idle pleasure, but the Lord's provided instrument for most effective work in the remaining months before Armageddon". -

If anyone questions a lack of zeal, or why not going to college is a bad idea, just have this "spiritual meat in due season" printed out and hand it to them. Remind them that those teens who read this article should be retiring soon.

As a doomsday cult, they must always believe the end is imminent. Without this sense of urgency, what motivation is there to attend the meetings, go out on Saturday morning and bother people etc. What reason would there be to forgo college and pioneer?
Since we know TTATT we know the history of failed prophecies and predictions dating back 140 years like the backs of our hands. We know about what was really predicted for 1914, 1925, 1799 being the start of the last days etc. However most of the rank and file do not even know about 1975 or the hype of the 80s. That is why they are able to use the same tactics over and over. JWs in general are ignorant of history and even if they are not, what would they say?
Overall, however over the years less and less JWs are buying into the hype. They may talk the talk but they are not all walking the walk. If they truly believed the end was imminent, would they sit idle beside a cart not interating with the public to give their lifesaving message?
Go on WT library and look at random KMs from the 70s 80s, 90s. It is shocking how much the same they all are! How people can stay in for decades and stick with it is beyond me. When you are almost at the "finish line" in the 70s and 40 years later are still there almost at "the finish line" yet at the same time Jehovah is "speeding things up" alarms should be ringing in every heart and mind.
plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose

Paradise is going to suck!
by WasOnceBlind inonce you really start thinking about it, the whole paradise idea is kind of depressing.
i remember growing up as kids my sister was the first to tell my parents (admittedly very courageously) that she wasn't sure she wanted to live in paradise, it sounded boring living forever.
i thought she was dumb for thinking that, i mean playing with lions!!!!

It breaks my heart to hear JWs put off travelling, marriage, kids, career etc and say they can do it all in "the new world". It is so sad that they mortgage the present for a future as real as the easter bunny!
Even something as simple as weekends are wasted. Most who work 5 days a week spend the weekends in fulfilling, fun persuits, yet the JW rationalizes that they will have all the time in the world, eternity to do whatever they want, thus they waste their free time for the cult because they are the "more important things". Time is the most valuable commodity humans have. What billionare would not trade their money for a longer life! The JWs waste time and potential for a lie. A true tragedy.

Paradise would be a restrictive tyranny by default. Even under a "human" tyranny you at least can have your own thoughts between your ears. In the JW new world, you will be punished for even your private thoughts!
I think what enabled me to wake up when I did was the fact that I had decided that I would NOT want to live in this world even if it were true. I didnt like the Idea of bethel and the "paradise" just seemed like a worldwide bethel. The elimination of the fear of dying at armageddon or "missing out" on paradise enabled me to do real research and open minded, rational thinking without emotions or fear getting in the way. I just didnt want their carrot they were dangling anymore! I was like the donkey with the carrot dangling in front of him, only I hate carrots!

On the subject of Child Baptism - Video

This is repugnant. They know that a child who is exposed to this, and wants to do the "right thing" AKA pleasing their parents and other authority figures will now be bugging their parents to get baptized because its kewl. Kids like to imitate what they see and when they are told that it will please the "imaginary" Jehovah they will do what they are told. Kids already have active imaginations so believing in the big "sky-daddy" isnt too hard. Plus almost all the adults around them believe in it, and those who do not are nothing more than someone to give a tract to.
I truly believe I have either great strength or incredible weakness that I do not blow my fuse. My oldest daughter is 5 now and is exposed to this garbage, and it IS WORKING. My wife shows her these videos on the IPad as do my parents. I cant stand it and it is ruining my life. I could be having a good day, mowing the lawn, and having a cold beer or going out to eat with my family and THEN my daughter may say something she saw on the videos. Just the other day she threw out a little "magic toy pony" because it was magic and Jehovah hates it. She said she feels proud and good to do it. My wife was sitting there the whole time so what could I say? 5 year olds think in black and white, something is either good or bad.. No middle ground. I try to draw her out and get her to think, but that is really not to effective at her age, neither am I a child psychologist/miracle worker. It ripped my heart out and I proceeded to drink tequila until my pain was numbed and I didnt care about much and the thoughts slowed down in my head.
