I did one of those joke quizzes on Facebook circa 2007, "Which Creature Are You", and my result was vampire... so I got a marking talk all of my own! and a personal visit from the elders with prayer because vampires are from Satan and magic, and good JWs don't believe in magic or participate in things from Satan or think they are creatures from Satan. They tried to hold my hand and pray with me even my cats wouldn't go near them, they sat and hissed and glared the entire time lol. I recorded the marking talk and played it for my friends at work, who knew I was leaving, and we had many many lols. It was the most ridiculous thing.

what is the dumbest thing you've been reproved/chided/df'd for?
by rather be in hades ini'm a big science nerd and i remember when we were going over the creator book, that the big bang doesn't necessarily prove there is no god.. i said this comment during book study and the conductor's jaw dropped.
everyone was pretty uncomfortable and it didn't help that he ct me off as i was explaining the red shift and mom wasn't too happy about all that.
i had to do a lot of bible research and write some nonsense about how the big bang was not reality or some sort...ugh.. .

Australia - Priests could be ordered to report confessions of sex abuse to police
by PrincessPeachz inhttp://www.couriermail.com.au/news/national/priests-could-be-ordered-to-report-confessions-of-sex-abuse-to-police/story-fndo1wyv-1226428524648.
this was on abc news this morning, one question asked: "should officials in religious and other organisations be held criminally responsible for the actions of offenders of child abuse in their employ or for whom they have responsibility?"..
it seems to be directed primarily at catholics, but could easily have ramifications for other religions as well.

It seems to be directed primarily at Catholics, but could easily have ramifications for other religions as well. The report is due to be presented in State Parliament in April next year.
Apologies if there's another thread on this already, I don't watch the news very often :)

My grandmother died recently, she was anaemic and needed blood, refused and her body shut down.
It's much worse when young people with their lives ahead of them die for refusing blood.

Introducing Mrs Cedars...
by cedars ini just thought you should know that mrs cedars has finally taken the plunge and joined the forum.
she was able to log on for the first time yesterday.. though we both "awakened" at different stages, mrs cedars was very supportive and non-judgmental when i first began exploring my beliefs from a critical standpoint.
she is currently in the process of reading crisis of conscience and aquainting herself with some of the facts of witness history that were hitherto unknown.

update on my boy
by Aussie Oz inmy son came to visit today, he and i are getting a lot closer since he left his jw home and thanks largely to his mother and step father alienating him big time.
he needs one of his parents to help him out at times and he can't turn to his mother.
thats sad but its her loss, and his i guess.. anyway, he recently got himself a girlfriend, a worldly girl at that.

Watchtower Library NOT identical to printed publications
by cedars ini realise the title of this thread will come as no surprise to many of you.
i've certainly heard before of subtle variations between extracts from the watchtower library and the actual printed literature.. what i didn't expect was to find this openly admitted to in the license agreement for the watchtower library, where it says in article 4:.
4. limited warranty.

" The bound volumes and YEARLY indexes from the 60s and 70s are Goldmines."
My parents made the grave mistake of keeping all volumes of the watchtower and awake from the early 50s to the 90s... and me being the inquisitive, reading type decided to read them all... yes, I read them all. And had a LOT of questions, for a small child! I was between 7-10 when this happened lol. They weren't impressed and refused to answer my questions as to why we didn't believe what the old magazines said on certain things etc. I'd already started testing the whole 'god-knows-everything-you-do' idea and the prayer thing when I was 5, and decided for myself it was a load of bullsh!t, so I guess it was only to be expected I would leave eventually!

Hi!
"Is it bad that I want to serve him his divorce papers during his meeting?"
HAHHAAA I so wanted to do that too, but I ended up trying to serve them on his lawyer myself, as they said they would accept service of them, then they refused to accept them when I got there, but charged him for it anyway. That was a tiny win. Eventually the process server found him at work, he was avoiding them at home so he wouldn't get served, the bastard.
Make sure you have proper legal advice and don't let him screw you over, I don't know what the laws are like where you live, but in Aus they are very straightforward.
