Has WTC paid into the scheme for victims? Or are they still obfuscating?
The JWs are billed / charged as each case is agreed and settled WITHOUT the JWs control.
Currently there are up to 756 potential Redress Scheme claimants according to the video, although the real number is believed to be much higher.

the pennsylvania supreme court memorandum opinion that i posted on this discussion board yesterday was confusing enough for me to ask attorney irwin zalkin to explain the issues.
he promptly replied and gave me permission to post here the following important information that he provided.. "the pennsylvania supreme court memorandum opinion raises the question of whether jehovah’s witnesses (“jw’s”) elders, who are volunteer clergy, fall under an exception to the mandatory reporting law of the state of pennsylvania.
jw’s members of the ivy hill congregation of jw’s sued the pa department of human services (dhs) and asked the court to issue a judgment that as a matter of law makes jw’s elders exempt from pa’s mandatory reporting of known or suspected child abuse, including child sexual abuse.

It is worth keeping in mind that when two elders, or a body of elders, report child sexual abuse to the Service Department they are communicating with an anonymous person. Further, that person is also under a Vow of Obedience to record and also report the information received to other elders.
And if the Service Department views the abuser / confessor as a threat to children in the congregation then the elders will be instructed to inform parents of the identity of the abuser / confessor.

I understand. It comes down to interpreting the laws in Australia, including working with children laws and the context of what is an institution.
For example, I appeared before parliament in Australia last year as a witness and gave evidence in relation to the National Redress Scheme application form questions.
To illustrate (the following paragraphs not being legal advice): a 19 year old male (or older) is allowed to ask a 16 or 17 year old female out on a date. Or vice versa. In most circumstances this is allowed. In fact repeated requests are allowed.
However, consider the following: if the male was a ministerial servant and he had a working with children card (as mandated by law) then it would restrict his ability to ask such a female (in the congregation) out on a date as he has legislated and congregational authority over her. If they did ‘date’ and ‘sexual sins’ followed, then the JW religion could be liable and subject to a Redress Scheme claim up to $150,000. There could be more to the events but that is not considered in this summation.
The governing body were offered help to navigate all of these potential problems but chose to ignore the help, and now the corporation will most likely financially suffer from their stubborness.

I never realised that the Redress Scheme applied to abuse victims who were under 18 years of age.
Under 18 years of age at the time they were abused, i.e. a child. The scheme is compensation for victims of child sexual abuse only.

for those still interested in lloyd's fall from grace, i made up a chart of my own.
april 2023 is when he put out his "things are bad" tin cup begging video, and he got a small surge to 592 on the 13th of that month.
i'm also using his all-time peak of 897 from november 2022.. for march, we're gonna say a modest -15, putting him at 352. i'm also curious as to when he might hit 300 and then 200. if he keeps up with an average of -20 every month, he'll be at less than 190 before the end of this year.. happy guessing everyone..

one thing that came up in conversations of the time was about how dumb the name was; that someone in bethel could have come up with a less lame name.
i think that that bethelite was trying to be clever by using "warlock" as the stem and dropping the "w".

Firstly, thank you for the time and effort the royal commission has expended in its impartial investigation and examination into historical abuse and neglect in State care, and in the care of faith-based institutions in New Zealand.
Secondly, thank you for your understanding, acknowledgement, and your response to the harm abuse and neglect causes to individuals, families, and communities; and your efforts to ensure lessons are learned for the future.
We were disappointed that the Jehovah’s Witnesses are seeking a judicial review and High Court declaration in relation to being the subject of any review by the Abuse in Care Commission of Inquiry. According to the official media statement issued by the Jehovah’s Witnesses Public Information Department:
“the religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses does not and never has taken children, young people or vulnerable adults into care.”

The below interesting comment/analysis appeared on an XJW Facebook page. I thought it worth repeating.
“On reading publicly available media reports, the Jehovah’s Witnesses have responded to the New Zealand Royal Commission into Abuse in Care with a deliberately false legal entity. This non-charitable and non-religious administrative company was created in 2019, and thereby could never have been responsible for children or the congregations. Yet, by using this misleading entity, the Jehovah’s Witnesses have pulled the wool over the Commission’s eyes and appear to be doing the same to the High Court.”
so, folks, 60 years ago, starting on september 1st, i believe, we, local witnesses in southern california, had the "privilege" of attending the "around the world assembly", at, of all places, the rose bowl, in pasadena.
(i think that it was an 8-day assembly) i was 9 years old then, almost ready to start 4th grade.
so, was anyone else, on this site, at that assembly?
Most interesting. Thanks ‘titch’. I was not there but am currently researching the history of the Californian JWs, aka IBSA, at this point in time. Maybe one day we can ‘touch base’ on this time period.
