i have been lurking for a few months now.
the only reason that i have not posted until now is because of the paranoia that comes with being raised a jw.
my current status in the congregation is irregular, reaching out for the office of inactive.

I, too, was raised a JW and it took many months of lurking before I got up the courage to post. But once I did, I wondered what took me so long. There are so many wonderful folks here. I'm so glad you joined us! The more the merrier.
Also, I'm not df'd or da'd. I just walked out, never to return. I too have family within the org. It's hard, but at least now after months of 'deprogramming' I can sleep at night not feeling like god is going to kill me at armageddon.
Please stick around. I'd love to hear some more of your experiences when you feel up to posting them.

I'm glad that you have found love and happiness. Don't pay any attention to these clowns. If you ignore them, they will eventually get bored and go try to start contorversy somewhere else. They are just here to get a rise out of people.
Also, you will notice, the only ones who behave so badly are the ones who claim to have Jehovah's or Jesus' backing. LOL.

reading farkel's thoughts about being called names, and remembering my own discouragement about the same thing, and thinking about all the posts recently decrying the fighting and bad language, i'm curious to know how my "seeker" persona is perceived here.
i know i have fought with some, made friends with others, so how i am perceived will be varied.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your dad. I hope you have family and friends who will be with you tomorrow.
I lost my dad too. The feeling was/is unreal, and the worst part is that I had no closure. Your post made me cry because I know the pain you have experienced. I would give you a big hug if I could. Please know that there are people here who care and will try to help you through the rough spots.
Take care Bernard. I'll be thinking about you tomorrow. In the meantime, maybe take some time and look at old photos, listen to his favorite music, or just take time to reflect on your good times with him. I know this always helps me.
