  Introducing Mrs Cedars...

  i just thought you should know that mrs cedars has finally taken the plunge and joined the forum.

  she was able to log on for the first time yesterday.. though we both "awakened" at different stages, mrs cedars was very supportive and non-judgmental when i first began exploring my beliefs from a critical standpoint.

  she is currently in the process of reading crisis of conscience and aquainting herself with some of the facts of witness history that were hitherto unknown.

  Does anyone know the networth of the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society ?

  with the more recent assimilation of congregation properties, profit on sales of major real estate worldwide, and building of the new upstate compound does anyone have a handle on current net worth?

  "book value"?.

  it would seem some of this data would be available by government charities disclosure.

  Lack of reading material provided by the Watchtower

  ok, so sseveninches made this comment on another thread got me thinking:.

  concerning reading books (life is to short): i read many 'secular' books, and my sister reads even more than i do.

  we're very open about it - in our house we have a giant bookshelf of books we've read, textbooks, and some movies.

  When I was active I felt the same way as your mom, and felt guilty whenever I read a 'worldy' book when I could've been reading a WT publication. Now I can't even stand the litterature as it only makes me feel sick. What do I do with my newly found free time? I peruse this site. It certainly made time fly when I had my DC weeks ago.

  The biggest enemy the Watchtower Corporation faces now is "The Truth"

  thats my opinion because the wts really has been preaching false information now for so long about the end times and armageddon soon.. also the doctrine that jesus chirt has taken a position over his earthly and heavenly kingdom in 1914 .... etc.

  its been a winfall marketing scheme for such a long time, which now really doesn't have much leg to stand on.. time in conjunction with reality has made the wts's doctrines redundantly weak or useless more or less.. i'm even believing the leaders of the wts are even starting to know this for themselves.. the wts future and its main supporting pieces of literature, the watchtower and awake magazines may eventually be tossed aside.

  for some new doctrines as well newly named pieces of literature .

  I agree that to some JW's it is their whole life, and honestly don't think everyone can handle the real truth, especially if they're mentally unstable. Even if the GB admitted it was all a lie to everyone there will probably be those that will form splinter groups.

  i'm not an ex jw but have some weird connections to the group none the less.. i was raised in the worldwide church of god.

  Will we ever see another Ray Franz?

  will we ever see another governing body member leave the organization like ray franz did and speak out against them?.

  one can only imagine the kind of dirt that's been concealed behind those gb sessions since the 1980's.. what are your thoughts?.

  Did you pick-up many people for the meetings??

  i was a regular taxi for alot of people.. we (wife & family) pick up one sister and her 2 children for many years ...he husband had walked out on her and we did'nt mind.. however when we were asked by the cobe wife to pick up and elderly and infermed bro a 3 day assembly (we had 3 young children) i said no.. we pased her and her daughter traviling alone to the assembly.. .

  Same as skeeter1, I would refuse to give anyone a lift. We live in a litigious world. I only did it once, but didn't know the brother lived half an hour away from me, and he didn't offer me money. I wouldn't charge someone if they lived really close to me because I was still going to the same place. I say those that can't make it should just call in and listen to the meeting at home.
