so it has been over a month, maybe closer to two that i haven't attended a meeting.
my stress level has gone way down, and my life is pretty good right now.
well as you know, there are tons of nosy witnessess.
I told my mom:
I don't need to do that anymore.
That's my standard answer to most questions. If I get pressed I just say: "I realized that living that way was not good for my emotional and mental health and I made a choice to get healthy." I usually say that line with a look of sheer angst on my face like being a JW was going to literally kill me...which is true.
I usually get *crickets*
Then I go about living a happy life!
well i think the borg crossed the line with many of the r&f.
met a young woman at a class i take come to find out she and her husband are recent ex-jws.
they were both born-ins and they felt the printing company is taking too many liberties and that many in the khs are not talking about it... just leaving.
Exactly what is the reasoning behind disqualifiing a person to be an elder if his child goes to university? Are they looking to keep that child focused on "spiritual things" thus grooming future MS/elders/pioneers?
Then personally if I wanted my child to have the benefit of higher education, I'd skip the whole elder business.
The R&F better get hip to the fact that they CAN and should go to college. I am going to make sure my JW sibling knows about this.

recently we had the 'privilege' of attending our local special assembly day.
the theme for this year was safeguard your conscience, and you guessed it, they looked up every reference to the word 'conscience' in the bible and then wrote a talk about each one.
it was most definitely a case of "pack your bags, we're going on a guilt trip.".

This brings us to the matter of counting time in the ministry. Have you noticed how everyone seems to have a different way of counting it? When someone asks us how we count our time, do we tell people, or do we direct them to the Organised book on page 87 where it advises on this subject.

Do Not Wound the Conscience of Your Brother! Those who are strong must(?) adjust their behavior to suit those who may be weaker….but in the same talk…We should not demand that people change their conscience to match ours. We should not dictate to others what they should do on things that are not expressly stated in the scriptures. We must be mindful that just because we can do something shouldn't necessarily mean that we should, especially if those who have weaker conscience might be upset.Sorry not to be cruel, but I got tired of baby-sitting folks conscience.
Follow Your Spirit Directed Conscience Weddings. We do all things for God's glory. When a couple are making arrangements for this, they should always keep Jehovah in mind. They would of course want to use a Kingdom Hall, because they love and are thankful to Jehovah as the originator of mariage. The husband would take the lead in the arrangements. There are no rules, but many have chosen to have a modest small occasion that focuses on praise of Jehovah.WTH???I am sorry, but what difference does it make?Employment and standard of living. Some have made changes because their work conflicts with Jehovah's standards. This may lead them to having a simple life. It can involve a change in thinking and a realisation that we don't need to work as much because Jehovah will look after us.Yes…he will…he will give us our retirement package that we have stored in heavenOur conscience should move us to shame, even if we take a false step in something small. Some may be habitually late to the meeting. Is this because of their schedule? No it is because of conscience. i'm interested in knowing whether any other faders out there ever find themselves feeling a little paranoid about establishing contact with other faders or former jws, just in case the unthinkable happens and things turn sour.. personally, i'm now fairly comfortable with the idea that i will be disfellowshipped or disassociated within the next year or so.
i see it as inevitable, and an essential transition in order to do what i want to do with my life.
I almost feel like telling my family:
I am making a stand. I am speaking out. I do not believe in this any more. I am joining a cause for change. My choice to SPEAK OUT should tell you I am on to something. Pay attention!

When I read the stories here about everyone just trying to live their lives and be at peace... It really drives home the reality of the CONTROL that the org has on us and our loved ones. I feel like we need a resistance movement or something, because no one, no group should ever be able to tell you how to LIVE YOUR LIFE!

didn't the apostle paul say that all christians have to be self sufficient and work?, not depending on anyone else and cause a burden?.

Both you guy:s WTWizard and Mr. Flipper, brought out the deeper, more meaningful aspects of this “Congregation” that we have online. You are both right. This is one place I look forward to coming to..every day. I dreaded that other place and I only had to go 3 times a week!
