  i have been a lurker for quite some time now (3 years maybe), and i vist the site a few times every couple of months.

  however, a situation has presented itself and i need to talk to someone.

  my "story" from 3 years ago is posted on http://www.jwfiles.com/jws-leaving/paul.html for some background info (i'm 26 now).

  That is a tough position you are in. Personally I think termination is the wrong choice unless there is something wrong with the child that could keep it from living anyway. I don't think it to be wise or nice if you kept it from your parents just because of the JW thing. Basically if your father turns you in then he turns you in. You have been out technically for 3 years anyway and have no aspirations to return so being df'd or whatever officially wouldn't have much impact on you personally I gather. I'm not sure what it would do though to the relationship with your family if anything at all. I would hope they still would have a relationship with you but unfortunately when it comes to these situations there is so little that we can control

  ever notice how witnesses seem to have "selective sins"?

  last i knew- gluttony was a sin, and to be avoided, yet so many witnesses are overweight!

  they just think the end is coming, why be healthy, why lose weight, why work out, blah blah blah.

  Wow! Sounds like the hall you went to was really ran by some nutjobs!

  If I'd have been in a hall like that it would have been really easy for me to tell them to go and F*** themselves!

  Why do they go back?

  i always hear at least two stories a year about someone i know who's left the "truth" goes back despite the trauma surrounding their departure.

  this morning i heard yet another story.

  a few years ago and elder's wife in my former uk congregation abruptly left the organization, surprising everyone and getting a big df in the process.

  I DA'd myself and went into the military. I always figured I'd go back though once I left the military. Funny thing though after I did get out of the military I started researching things and learned the truth about the "truth". Fortunately for me I did that as I probably would have tried going back.

  Freed 1 yr ago today; My B'D tomorrow

  it was one year ago today, that i mailed my disassociation letter.

  i had postponed my da'ng to spend months (many sleepless) gathering research to help "rescue" my jw friend of 26 years.

  i called her finally on june 30. turns out, she could have cared less.

  Disco Sucks!

  does anyone remember how the society joined the "disco sucks" movement of the late 70's?

  i remember reading in the mags about how disco was created by homos and that it has an "immoral beat" (whatever that means!

  ) it was also mentioned not to go see "saturday night fever" because someone gets a blowjob in the movie.. in our congregation, we had a special meeting about disco because people would request disco songs at our once-a-month jw skating party at the local skating rink.

  i like the IT environment. there's always something happening

  Yeah.. this place for as slow as things can be is pretty interesting. We have more different types of equipment running back there then anything I've ever seen in IT before.. From Cisco to Compaq all makes and models and everything in between..LOL Gee and think 10 years in the Navy I spent just to come here and do this..

  I'm in the IT field. Basically I babysit..errrr.. work in a Internet Data Center. So I get the joy of having thousands of different customers servers sitting in the 120,000 square foot room behind my office..LOL

  Thing is it's a 24/7 service so this place don't shut down. Most of the time at night I find myself catching up paperwork or installing new machines for customers.. or if something goes wrong then of course off I go to figure out what, where, why and how..

  Oh I normally find stuff to keep me busy around this place. When there isn't much going on as is the case on a night like tonight I get on here and post..LOL

  Working nights will get ya turned around though if you're not careful. Here there are 2 of us that work the graveyard and we went to the 8 on 6 off schedule so we can actually have almost a week of sleeping at night.. ha That way you don't have to always readjust your schedule every other day
