WHY does God fail to...

...attain unanimous support from his creation of free moral agents?

from the majority at least.. apparently according to the wt interpretation of god's own book...a prominent spirit creature who made himself satan became unsatisfied and left god.later untold numbers would join the devil.. now the only solution for the future of these 'rebels' would be for god to destroy them.. then the very first human creatures apparently also felt unsatisfied and withdrew from god.they got destroyed.. later god had to confuse the language of all humans because they were unanimously opposed to god.

those people too are history.. then god had an ark built because all flesh had left god's way except for a handful of people.. evidently god was not expecting any great number to actually join noah, otherwise god would have had noah build several arks!

A more accurate illustration of what has happened would be instead of telling your neigbor to mind his own business or just plain ignore him, you invite him into your household instead and allow him to rape, plunder, and murder your family just to prove that you are better than him.
Like I said, some pieces of the puzzle are missing here.

Yes, the God I was taught about all these years only strikes fear of death into mankind. And something just doesn't wash. It was one of the most disturbing things, in my mind, to have to feel the God you've been taught to worship is spiteful and mean-spirited. Couple that with the blinking light of the Organization, and it makes you wonder why there are so many followers, huh?

Introduction

i just wanted to introduce myself.

i grew up as a witness in the 50's but found that there were to many issues that i could not resolve without going "outside" to investigate.

i have never returned and have no desire to, however, about two years ago i discovered h20 and have been participating there every since.

Nice to meet you Carmel. I've just been here a few days myself but already I find I'm heading to this board right after I read my mail every morning. The threads are interesting, and for the most part, not the constant bickering and flaming that you see in other places. It's well made. Hope to get to know you better!

Writing private letters to the Society.

for anyone who's ever written something of a private nature or asked clarification on certain beliefs have you ever had the unfortunate experience of the elders calling you in the back room or a sheperding call ?.

the reason i bring this out is that newer brothers or sisters don't know that everytime you write the society the society sends a copy of your letter to your local cong.

That is a preposterous comment. Only occasionally does the Society copy elders on personal letters received by local publishers. The idea that the

Society copies local elders "every time" manifests ignorance of the huge load of such mail the Society receives each day. They do not have the time, inclination or resources to copy local elders each time a publishers writes them with some personal matter.

That is utter bunk and you know it. I am not deaf, and my own ears heard talks from the platform in EXACT OPPOSITION to what is stated above. We were told that we should pay for the literature at the time we picked it up, by putting contributions in the box, and all contributions we received in service were ALSO supposed to be put into the box. They even gave talks admonishing the brothers that they were not giving ENOUGH money to cover the literature, tapes, and computer programs!!! It got so bad that it was happening at every meeting! I was totally disgusted by it all. You may know the "letter of the law" so to speak, what they write in their publications, but the WTBTS speaks with forked tongue. What they say and what they print are often two VERY different things.

I agree with Frenchy.. it's DISHONEST. And shady.

Also, at our congregation, we were told we should put a contribution in the box equal to what we felt the magazines were worth, (and were reminded that costs go up all the time!) THEN, if we received a contribution at the door for them, we were also to put THAT contribution in the box for the world wide work. Now if that isn't putting a load onto the backs of the poor publishers with no education and menial jobs (due to the Society's "no education" policy) pray tell, what is? They are no different than Babylon the Great. Wake up and smell the coffee. [8>}

Dear Waiting,

I was referring to what seemed like the constant pleas for money and contributions that were being begged from the platform last time I was attending meetings regularly. They asked everyone to "sign a slip" of what they would faithfully promise to give every week and put it into the contribution box. They then reminded everyone of how much publishing the books cost, as in how much it would cost you to buy it in "the world" conveniently forgetting that the world doesn't have their books made on free labor.

They were especially upset that brothers were ordering the computer programs that the Society puts out, but not contributing enough for the cost of them in the Contribution box. It got so bad that I felt they were like the merchants in the church selling doves and such in Jesus' day. The ones he lost his temper with and threw them out of the temple. It was disgusting!

We all know that it costs next to nothing to put a program on a cd. But they were asking AT LEAST 100.00 per program ordered, to be put in the contribution box. This was going on WEEKLY in our KH.

Thanks for the memory, SC. One of my favorite MS' who was eventually sadly disfellowshipped, used to fondly call me bonehead. It wasn't taken as an insult back then, we were very good friends.
I'll always treasure those times a few years ago, and remember them fondly.

Yes, I very well remember this. And I felt at the time, and STILL feel, that they were trying to convince people to do this, because it was beginning to sound too much like a Cult, when people would constantly parrot the "Society".
If it looks like a cult, and talks like a cult, and bullies like a cult, what would people think?

You hit the nail squarely on the head, Martini! No worky, no Organization. No money, no organization. No pushy the mags, no Organization.

So what if you come to all the meetings? If you don't sell the mags and get the people in and convince them to contribute their incomes, No Organization.

Is this JEHOVAH's organization, or a publishing companies' organization run by guilt of the masses?
