Only other news I've seen is that the autopsy states he shot himself to death. The local news has sat on this story, no name given as yet, no more information. No obituaries in the newspaper. Looks like his family is just going to bury him with no memorial, even in the newspaper. I begin to wonder if the society is paying off the media to keep this quiet. They even removed all comments in the KCStar's website pertaining to the July 28th article about the police not yet releasing his name. Someone must have some influence with that newspaper.

I live five miles from the KH. We took photos and there is much more info if you read www.kansascity.com 's article and read the COMMENTS on the article. Apparently, the guy went to the front of the KH, poured gasoline on himself and lit it. It blew a hole in the back wall (away from the street side so we couldn't get photos of it), and started a fire. The KH is still standing and basically needs some hefty cleanup work and the hole in the brick wall repaired. The congregation was in there cleaning up today, bringing bag after bag of debris out. My husband and I took photos from the road, which rattled their cage. The ATF was there yesterday, but the police tapes were down today. Also, from what I could find out, it was most likely a MS or Elder as the person had the key, and did not break in. That particular congregation usually cleans their KH on Saturday afternoons, so this guy most likely knew that and had access to the KH. That's all I have been able to glean so far. Teresa

Pardon me if I'm mistaken, but weren't we always told that the prayers of anyone who's not a baptized JW or "interested ones" were not heard by Jehoober?
So they're thanking people for prayers that they're taught from infancy aren't heard by their "God"? Hilarious.

A pox on all who think this girl willingly ran away from home and stayed with this sick lowlife. She was reared in a beautiful home, educated, and from all the pictures I've seen of her, appears to be a very innocent human being. Eyes don't lie. She was abducted at GUNPOINT, people. And more than likely, she was taught obedience at home, to the point that it would be easy to brainwash and browbeat her into submitting and not trying to secure her own release. Some people are fierce in their fight for personal freedom. Others are taught from birth to be totally obedient to those in power. She obviously is one of the latter, and has been psychologically damaged.
Any who have been JW's should clearly be able to understand how that happens. Get real, and punish who's really at fault here: the kidnappers, not the victim!

20/20 SHOW LAST NIGHT
by Mary indid anyone watch 20/20 last night?
here's what one of the stories was about;.
quite a few women who had planned on dedicating their lives to their country, have come forth to tell the horrors they've encountered while at training at the air force base (in colorado i think).. many women have been raped repeatedly by "superior officers".

Which just goes to show you, it's not just the Watchtower Society, but a root problem with society in general.

Oprah Talks to a Child Molester today at 4p dallas time
by wednesday inmust see tv, child molester gives inside info about what makes him "tick" so to speak.
something all of us should watch.
-

I am really curious about what causes a child molester to feel the way they do for a young human being, when it repulses most people. How do they develop such an illness, and is there anything which could prevent that? Is it genetic mental illness, or environmental?

Does anyone remember
by RedhorseWoman in.
the article in an older watchtower where jws were warned against investing in the stock market because it was considered by the society to be gambling?.
i know that i either read this article or read about this article--possibly here--but there is still no search capability and i haven't been able to locate it.. or....did i just confuse this with something else?

RHW, I do vaguely remember reading that article. It would have been written before 1993, I think, as that is when I pretty much stopped attending meetings on a regular basis and I never read the mags after that.

It's always funny to watch the Dallas folk play bumpercars after a good freezing rain, lol. I used to be a claims adjuster there, and it got positively crazy everytime they'd get a freeze!
Here in Mo it was -2 farenheit this morning when I woke up. Makes me long for a good Australian summer!
