Rutherford a drunk? Why not... All of my nearest and dearest Witness friends had alcohol problems. including my ex. I think that the repression and suppression forced upon Witnesses leads many to look for an outlet, and since alcohol is acceptable to them, it often becomes their drug of choice. Oh and WW before you start the standard Witness holier than thou attitude, these were pioneers, servants and elders children.

How could have Rutherford been a 'drunk'?
by wholewheat ini feel that the apostate's claims that rutherford was a drunk to be far fetched.
on the one hand, they claim that he was so drunk that the brothers at bethel shipped him to san diego to beth sarim, where he stayed drunk out of his mind, then on the other hand, they claimed that he ruled the society with an iron fist, that he was a dictator.
no drunk could have ruled the society like a dictator.

Thank you for posting this. My only sibling, my brother, committed suicide. The burden of dealing with his mental health AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, the burdens placed upon him by the WT were too much for him. I have 3 beautiful children who will never know their uncle. I so wish that my parents had ignored the advice" to wait on jehovah he'll fix everything..." and had gotten my brother the help that he needed WHEN he needed it. This cult has cost some of us so much.

I am a potter. My husband paints and sculpts. My daughters are all in gifted art programs. I have an extreme problem with the way that JWs squelch artists. I had many people in my JW life, including my own father, who lived in agony because they were led to believe that their artistic pursuits would only stand in the way of their "spiritual" goals. AAAAAAHHHHHH!

Happy snakes & simple pleasures....
by thinker inthe other day at work i saw two harmless brown water snakes in a pool of water.
the pool was fed by two large pipes that allow a stream to pass under a road.
the water drops a couple feet from the pipe to the pool.

Some of my favorite things:
The smiles I see daily on the faces of my beautiful daughters.
Having a handsome , loving, true man in my life.
Watching the goldfinches at my bird feeder.
Feeling that through my work, I really can help people make a difference in their lives.
Knowing that I have true friends now, such as Thinker and Thinker's Wife, who though I don't get to see them very often, are always in my thoughts. -

Can A Witness Eat Organically Grown Food?
by Englishman ini wonder if jws are aware that organic food is grown in soil that is improved by enriching the soil with manure, fish-meal and dried blood?
lots and lots of dried blood?

As manager of a thriving health food store, I can attest to the fact that a few health-conscious JW's in my own community eat organically produced food. Bear in mind, however that they routinely consume massive quantities of manure with daft smiles upon their faces. The use of dried blood as a fertilizer... I'll have to research how widely it's used here in the US. This could be an interesting little topic to toss out there when I wait on my JW customers (the ones that will still talk to me...).

Older men make better lovers
by rekless inlondon (reuters) - older men are better lovers and have fewer impotence problems than their younger counterparts, with the "male menopause" a myth pedaled by drug companies to sell their products, according to a british psychologist.. dr. lorraine boule, from sheffield university in northern england, told the british psychological society conference that men became more skilled sexually as they get older, british newspapers reported on saturday.. "older men sustain erections for longer, are longer coming to orgasm, and satisfy women better.
sexual activity does diminish with age, but the quality should get better," she was quoted as saying by the daily mail.. boule's conclusions were based on a survey of 185 married professional men aged 30 to 60. while 22 percent of men under 46 suffered erectile problems, only 16 percent of those over 46 did.

Yeah, baby! My husband is 15 years older than I am and would still like it twice a day. Then he wonders why I'm tired!

Feb. 6 will be the 11th anniversary of my brother's suicide also at the age of 27. He was my only sibling. Suicides have become so prevalent in the borg that my parents run sort of an eastern US suicide "support group," all within the organization, of course. I'm so sorry that you have ahd to experience this also.
