  Why should I have to sign a letter saying I want to disassociate ?

  i don't understand why the elders want this letter so badly ....for one i don't remember signing a contract to become a jehovah's witness ,why do i need to resign ?.

  also i was baptised in 1978 before the baptism questions changed , i dedicated myself to god not an organization .

  my vow was to follow the direction by holy spirit as revealed to me through the bible, not the watchtower ...... if i belonged to the luthern church and quit going after three yrs they drop your name off the member list ........but if i chose to come to easter or christmas service everyonre would still talk to me i just wouldn't be a member any more .. .

  I wrote a DA letter, but never sent it in, I still have it. There is no need to send one, but you may want to send it for piece of mind. Before I gor baptized as a JW, I was told by my Bible study teacher AND the PO that I had to send a letter of resignation to my former church (Catholic) which I did, a form letter which can be found in the OM book.

  I guess if you send one in, the JW's will at least (hopefully) not bother you anymore.

  back in the day when the society imposed a smoking ban and gave all smokers six months to quit or be disfellowshipped, i wonder what the statitics showed.. rr.

  FED UP WITH IT ALL !

  hi, i haven't used this for a long time, due to the feeling of not needing to.

  i've been getting on with life, fine, for some time now.

  so been out 10 years, parents and other family still in.. well i guess i'm just asking how you cope, really, my family are becoming worse with me, and my son, (who has autism), little by little, and just the general putting the jw life before everything else, including me, my child, life in general, simple things and keeping us at arms length, it's really hard, as i have a relative trying to dig dirt on me, spreading it round the family in order to try and cause more upset for me.. so just a simple question, on how you've all coped in this situation.. thanks .

  Everyone copes differently ... like me, I could care less, I left in 1994, never looked back, left my whole life behind, friends and family, I have a niece and nephew I have not seen since they were in diapers. Out of sight, out of mind.

  Okay I just got back from the Police department

  the officer was very understanding and helpful .

  he said you would be surprised how many citizens they have come in and ask how to stop the jehovahs from coming to their doors .. .

  i told him my whole story about leaving the jw's after 44 yrs and just wanting peace and freedom .

  Make sure you send it "certified", or "signature confirmation", so that they cannot say they never received it. Certified is best, with "return receipt requested", you'll get a green card back with all the information and the name of the person who accepted and signed for the letter, You can even send it "Restricted", which means a specific person you address it to, MUST sign it. Then again, he could refuse, so a simple certfied with "RRR" is good enough .... yeah, I'm a letter carrier

  Should a Christian see the movie "AVATAR"?

  i give the movie a 6.5 score.

  the scenery was wonderful, but the plot was not zipped up well.

  it sort of follows the story-line of "dances with wolves", but in space.. .

  what publication did you study and how long was the study for??.

  when i came in you were only allowed 6months, i didnt even get that lol...but was baptised after 5months.

  it was so fast but i was ready for baptism.

  The six months rule was prior to the 1975 fiasco, between 1968 and 1975. However some still held to this rule after 1975. I studied the "Live For Ever" book in 1982, just a few months before I got dipped at a DC

  when i fell for him i was completely unaware of his upbringing as a jw and only became aware once he decided to leave a few months back.

  being raised without much of a religious basis, besides the typical western christian exposure, i have researched, read, attended groups, read in this forum, to try to better understand him, and jws, but i am feeling at a loss here.

  he just recently left the jws and now i am experiencing this struggle with him; i am wondering how much of our problems can be contributed to this transition.

  The author of this blog is JW name Corey from Colorado, I never personally met him, butr years ago we use to correspond about the Bible Students, everything was fine, until he found out that not only was I a Bible Student, but I was an xjw, then he treated me like the plague, unless he needed something from me. The last I spoke to him was a couple of years ago. I suspect his blog has much to do in countering all the "Pastor Russell is not the founder of Jehovah's Witnesses" Bible Student sentiments. Of course 99% of his postings are taken from the Watchtower's side of things.

  As to his claim that xJW "love the man and seem to read his books more then they read the Bible. It appears that dysfunctional codependents' will cling to anything if it makes them feel good." Is hilarious in itself, considering the rank and file love the Gocerning Body and spend more time reading books about the Bible, then they do reading and Bible by itself. One would think that if the New World Translation was the premier translation, that the Society would have published it in as many languages as they do their journals and other publication.
