collegirl I'm sooo glad you're 19 and at college ... use your time wisely believe me before you can cough you'll be 30.Cos I was a dub i left school at sixteen and wasted my time pioneering.I always had niggling doubts but buried 'em (just kept thinking about the carrott)
When I was 19 I probably would have "marked" somebody who talked "apostate" to me and secretly shunned him !!What an a--hole.
Amazing how things turn out.
Get out while you're still young and see how your "friends" treat you.
I can't believe the so called mates of mine who now don't even call or phone me just to see how I am (never mind the bible)
I've found more friends on here in the last month than any jw's in the past 10 years and they don't even know me personally.

Mine's the opposite of the rags to riches story at least from a jw's point of view.I was brought up as a jw from the age of 7...by the time I was 20 I was a reg pioneer servant never off the platform etc you know one of those vomit inducing do gooder types who all the elders and pioneers loved to bits and I kissed their arses too.
After marrying a pioneer it all went steadily downhill(!)
Didn't have any secular qualifications ... wife suddenly decided she NOW wants a career....Due to marriage probs becoming obvious to elders they took me off servantship, not long after marriage ended..divorced..got remarried too quick (rebound)to screwed up jw.
Had a breakdown leading to depression..meeting attendance haphazard
...by this time i was in late 20's early '30's...still in "truth" but strugglingFlash forward to July 2001.Went to assembly (what a bore).Never attended another meeting since!
Looking back though i did have my doubts even early on but buried them.(once sneaked a peek of apostate book in public library)
When I got on internet the temptation was too much..now here I am...

Post quotes from bible you are skeptical of
by ashitaka inthought this might be interesting to both religous and non-religous types.. perhaps leaving out revalation might be a good idea.....you know why, but if you've got one from there, go right ahead and post it.. mine is a popular one:.
isaiah 2:4, revised standard version.
"he shall judge between the nations, and shall decide for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshears, and spear into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.".

Please don't discredit Apostate FLUFFERS!
by Smoldering Wick ini'm not sure where we draw the line at fluff?
is it humor, sex, happy posts, personal experiences, life lessons?
who determines which post (or poster) falls into what category?

Hi wick...Remember our brief discussion about the red crabs on Christmas Island?Well I couldn't believe it when I saw an advert on telly set on Christmas Island with the crabs and a car dodging them!!
Its an advert for a car and it shows the car dodging(computer generated)crabs to the music of the theme for Fight Club!Really original its a pity you can't get ITV oner there (or can you)

Most unintentionally funny scene in a movie
by Abaddon inin the original superman, where superman sticks the flag back on top the white house, and says "i stand for truth, justice, and the american way"; this never failed (the couple of times i saw it in the cinema as a kid) to reduce the audiences to tears of laughter (in enlgand).. in the blair witch project, where she's doing the "i'm sorry" bit in the super-big-close-up nostril shot; hilarious.. the bit in jurassic park where the lawyer gets eaten; the audience i was with cheered.... .

Speaking of Jeff Daniels what about the toilet scene in Dumb and Dumber!(after jim carrey sneaked Turbo Lax into his nightcap)
whoops that was intentional but I think some people hate toilet humourAbaddon I don't know which Superman you saw but at the end of my copy of Superman2 he flies across the white house lawn with the top of the dome and a flag on top(look closely...the background is a still photo...the fountain is frozen in midstream!!)
Anyway he then plops the flag in position and says "sorry Mr President...I won't let you down again" -

He also did a film with Robert Downey jr about a lawyer, can't remember the name of that one..i think it had a different name in England than US (you know like Above the Law is called Nico here!)
Oh yeah The Ref is called Hostile Hostages in England.Funny film.
Boyz and the Hood

Pioneer Blues
by Rummy1 inwhen i was heavily into the borg (before marriage to jw followed by dissapointment and dissillusion)i knew an interesting sister from new york who often visited england and actually stayed in my (parents)home about 1989.she gave me an audio tape of some witness band(i think they were in bethel) which tape had 2 tracks about jw's preaching etc.they were both excellent and very funny.one was called "pioneer blues" and the other "going to the kingdom hall".does anybody remember this stuff.
(incidentally in typical witness style the music was condemned by the borg heirarchy and the bros in question were counselled for producing so called negative songs about the witnesses!).
i have the tape still!!!
