  at least 300 have been terminated from the us bethel branch in the first month of 2008, and she expects the number to increase.

  I would like to point out that even selfish, greedy corporations are required by law to pay into benefit plans, such as employment insurance and pension plans (I'm speaking here from a Canadian perspective) that will provide benefits in the form of income continuity and pensions after a layoff has occurred. As well, corporations are required to provide at least a minimum of severence when laying a person off.

  The Society falls well below the level of even the worst corporation. In addition, these people are layed off, in many cases, with no usable skills or references. And, they have been sold a fake dream which has prevented them from getting an education.

  Science fiction book suggestions...

  i love science fiction books and have run into a dry spell.

  i have read alot of david weber but he has been quite slow with new books lately...anyone have any good suggestions for a good read...i need 5 star authors with "blow your socks off" books...any suggestions...

  I thought Ender's Game was excellent - well worth the read, but the next five books in the series went progressively down hill. By book six, I was praying he wouldn't write any more.

  With the exception of Ender's Shadow. It was also good. It is basically a retelling of Ender's game from Bean's perspective. You find out what really happened.

  Ok, so if I were to read one Vonnegut, which one should be my first?

  Over the years, I think I have read all of Vonnegut's books. Ironically, I just finished rereading "Slaughterhouse Five" and am currently rereading "Breakfast of Champions."

  Personally, I consider "Slaughterhouse Five" to be my all time favourite book, although, I can't classify it science fiction. It's sort of a hybrid - nothing else like it.

  This fall, I read the Dark Materials trilogy (Golden Compass). It's not something I would normally have read, but the Catholic Church came out against it, so I figured it must have had something going for it. It was quite good.

  Asimov's Foundation series (7 books) was good, but I found that I enjoyed it immensely when I was a teenager, not so much now. Vonnagut, on the other hand, ages well, and I actually enjoy him more as I get older.

  Ray Bradbury's short stories are also good.

  And, of course, don't forget Kilgore Trout...

  it absolutely stunned me that a b0rganization that had been so central to our lives was literally unknown to the attorney who was assiting us with the updating of our will..... three times we had to repeat "watchtower bible and tract society" ...

  first - let me point out that (for those that do not know this), neither my wife nor any of her family are jws.

  my wife studied with a jw - but that was many years ago.

  she never got too far into the jw religion - but got a knowledge of what - and who they are.

  My wife's uncle is an elder, and has had back problems for a long time that make door to door work difficult. So, he picks names out of the obituaries and writes infomercials to the survivors. I've also heard of witnesses phoning or writing letters to people who are chronically not at home when they call or who live in secured buildings.

  how do i load a 20" floor buffer in the back of my pick up alone without killing my back?

  No, if a bulldozer can't do it, I doubt if a block and tackle would me of much use.
