no jw's have been to my door for years because they all know where i live - my mom drives by with her "car group" and points out our house, even stops to use the potty or get a pop.
silly - i know, but mom doesn't seem to care about the shunning thing (thank goodness).. anyways - hubby and i have bought a new house and will be moving out of this congregation's area soon.
it's a brand new house in a new area so i'm sure it'll get worked fairly quickly (new blood on the block).

Also, did you know that the Organisation has been involved with the United Nations for over nine years. I don't think that they would be able to answer either of these questions, but it would be interesting to hear them waffle !

We gave the elders The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 brochure, which was updated in Oct 1999. The full Act comes into force in 2004. We made it quite clear that they are obligated to provide an equal service to all. No moves have been made to comply with these regulations , the disabled are still sitting downstairs in the foyer, where it is quite cold and draughty. Although a promise was made to the congregation before we purchased the Hall, that a lift would be installed, they have never kept their word. This hall was purchased in 1993, so they have had plenty of time to get things sorted out.
Other priorities, such as new chairs (for the comfort of the able-bodied) jumped the queue of importance.
I publicly reminded during a study item, that one of the elders had just given a talk on "keeping your word when giving a promise", this did not go down well.
If I promised my son or daughter and did not keep that promise, and did not explain why I could not, I would be teaching my children to lie.

jesus christ commanded:.
"go, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all things which i commanded you.
What about the "evil-doer" on the stake next to Jesus. He wasn't baptised, as far as we know, but it was his faith in Jesus, and not baptism, that saved him.

In our previous congregation a sister commented publicly in the WT discussion, that this sort of thing does NOT EXISTS within the JW's. Just how brain-washed can you get ! Who's kidding who.
The Org. very quickly points the finger at all other religions whenever it can but of late they have lost all credibility.

Just to put you in the picture, briefly:-
Certain ones have been lying for quite a few years on the subject of Restricted Funds, i.e. Money donated specifically for a Lift for the disabled (due to the fact that the Main Hall where all congregate, is upstairs, with no access for disabled) We knew full well that donations had been given for this Lift Fund, but certain ones changed the name of the Fund to call it a more general name, They have even written to the Charity Commissioners to say that there had NEVER been a Lift Fund !!! (We have far more than two witnesses to this effect) We were certainly under the impression that Restricted Funds could not be changed to General Funds, without the permission of the donor or donors, but as a christian we are told to "Not blow our trumpet", and not advertise our gifts.

i'm sure this has been asked before but as i'm fairly new i missed all the discussion you had on this one.. we know the wts signed up with the un as a ngo, they say for a library ticket because the un changed their policies.
of course, there is no acceptable reason whatsoever for them being hypocritical and becoming affliated to what they see as the wild beast but what do think their real reason was?

Welcome to the board,
We have spent a lot of time and effort looking into the UN scandal, we even made phone and fax calls to New York to verify the information.
It seems that the ordinary brothers & sisters were certainly not aware of what had been going on for over nine years
and after speaking to a number of elders, it seemed that they were not aware of this either.
Have you tried searching in the box at the top of the page, try UN Watchtower, there are quite a lot of good links
and other sites which deal with this scandal. It certainly seems very devious and as you have said hypocritical in the extreme!
If you can find out how their mind works and the answer let me know.

The reason for asking this, is that we have come up against lies (as usual) and just need to get our facts right before confronting certain ones
