a question of conscience

how can you read all of the info on this forum regarding un scandal, alleged paedophilia, failed prophecies, u-turn on blood etc.

and not have your conscience affected before jehovah.

How can you read all of the info on this forum regarding UN scandal, alleged paedophilia, failed prophecies, U-turn on blood etc. and not have your conscience affected before Jehovah. Do you really believe that you have a clean conscience before Jehovah. i.e do you agree or disagree with the material found on this site.

Peter chapter 3 verse 15 - ....always ready to make a defense before everyone who demands of you a reason for the hope in you.

Because of this scripture, we would expect an answer.

i wondered how the questions now come up to scrutiny with the way various countries are dealing with religions.

Have these questions changed much from when they were first introduced if so, is that due to the pressures being put on religions, by various states.

hello everyone, this is my first post.... i'm in the process of fading after being a jw my entire life (almost).

i don't go to meetings anymore..... hubby's an elder, and boy, is he mad.

he still makes the kids go with him to meetings, service, etc... they hate it and i feel sorry for them, but there's not much i can do about it.. i've been feeling lonely today, i do miss my friends sometimes, and i have really good friends, but since i don't go to meetings i never see them much anymore.

I'm pleased to hear you've had the courage of your convictions to unleash yourself from the stranglehold of the JWs. It took me thirty years to realise that I had been duped. Recently, what with the UN Scandal, Failed prophecies, alleged paedophilia, blood U-turns etc. I also made the choice of getting out, (now the Truth will set you free) don't lose the love for Jehovah and Jesus Christ that you had.

This move will now allow you to look at different material other than JW material, that reflects Jehovah, Jesus and the Bible - something that was frowned on in the Organisation.

I can't get to grips with being shunned

my wife and i have been disassociated for about 2 months now.

every day in our small town we are being shunned by former friends.

one in particular annoyed me today.

Hello Chuckyy,

We were part of the Hereford congregation for twenty years and were in the Org for over thirty years. We RESIGNED a couple of years ago on the grounds of their involvement in the UN scandal. We waited 6 months for an answer to our questions regarding this, with the Society and a further two months from the local elders. They had copies of all the information, that it had taken over a year for us to compile. They could not or would not give us any answers. Eventually, as we resigned, everyone that we meet now in town, shuns us. When we warned them (elders) in our resignation letter about the consequences of their announcing that we had left, we also asked them for verification of "shunning" from the bible. They could not again produce any such answer - IS THIS REALLY A CHRISTIAN ACT? IF IT IS, THEN WHERE IN THE BIBLE, IF IT IS NOT HOW CAN THEY SAY THEY HAVE JEHOVAH'S BACKING.

The reason as I see it - is they cannot justify it therefore the Society encourages shunning - remember they don't want you or I talking to anyone - they don't want people to find out the real truth.

IF THEY HAVE THE TRUTH IT SHOULD BE AB LE TO STAND UP TO ANY QUESTIONING

Only One Religion's WebSite Ignores the Desaster in South Asia

to whatever religion's website you surf, all have a comment on the tsunami in south asia: be it catholic, protestant, adventist, mormon, new apostolic or whatever.

they try to give comfort and encourage people to donate for the suffering people there.

but if you go to http://www.watchtower.org or http://www.jw-media.org there is no mention of it (at least by now).

Re: The JWs uncaring attitude towards the Tsunami crisis. At a local level, a few years back, (when I unfortunately was a witness) the whole county of Hereford, UK was almost flooded, as we live in an old water mill, only 200yds from the river Wye, the water level came within a few feet of our home and flooded into the cellar under the house, cutting us off. NOT ONE ELDER OUT OF APPROX 10 ELDERS IN THE LOCAL CONG. EVEN BOTHERED TO PHONE TO SEE IF WE WERE OK. The WT seems to breed uncaring "christians" in the Org.

makes a point to ask questions without really asking them like "oh we havent seen you here in a looong tiiiime" and "we miss hearing you comment at the meetings" .

brother womenizer--known for dating all the "available" sisters and dumping them .

Brothers who want you to complain to elders (the hierarchy) on their behalf, but conveniently disappear when you have started the ball rolling.

Brothers with a complete lack of principles

Brothers with fear of Men rather than of God

"Yes" men by the dozens

Elders who cannot adhere to their own rulings but counsel you if you don't.

Elders who will tell you the very first time you go out on the ministry with them, "you shouldn't underline your bible brother etc...."

Elders who hate you to have a scriptural answer to the problems they have caused.

Ad infinitum ........................

Just when I thought I didn't hurt over the JW's Shunning,,,,,,,, I dream :(

for such a long time, i haven't had any dreams dealing with my jw issues, and mostly i just pick and make fun of my old jw days.. last night i dreamed another dream about old friends and it was painful.

i woke myself up crying.. i dreamed my family that are all out, in laws included where at a convention.....there was one sweet girl that we have known since she was a baby and she was waving and smiling at us from afar.. i was worried she would get in trouble, and wondered if she knew we were d/a.

( of course in real life she knows).. as the dream went on , more and more of the faces of so many of the witnesses started to appear.

I found having been out of the Org for a couple of years, how the shunning still goes on even though we did nothing wrong except to ask questions (UN, pedophiles, Blood issue, failed prophecies etc) in a lengthy correspondence with the London Bethel and the local elders.

I noticed with the established JWs that they seem to suffer from a series of ailments, first noticed when approaching them,

1. they seem to quiver at the corner of their mouths and speak to their colleague (that they are walking with) as they come towards me

2. As they get nearer, their head goes into a rapid decline and they inspect their shoes.

3. As they come abreast of me, they get a sudden attack of acute deafness.

Is there any cure for these ailments !!!

For us that have made a stand on principle, we can keep our head up high.

UN scandal...again

i popped round to my mothers the other day, not realising she had the book study at her house.

luckily it had almost finished so i waited around.

once finished the elder shook my hand and asked me what i was doing now.

Well done YX - really good to hear that you managed to make the most of the occasion !

Eventually, I expect that the majority of JWs will hear about the UN hypocrisy.

It was this scandal that helped us to see the WT in a different light. We even telephoned New York UN and got it confirmed first hand, as well as in letter form.

DustyB has a very good point, if it wasn't true then surely they would use their lawyers
