  Elders finally took me to the back room...

  after several months of leaving the meetings as soon as they ended or only staying for "the first meeting" then leaving the "second part", the elders finally cornered me at last night's meeting.. they said they were concerned about me and that being that i am a young brother in a recently divided congregation they saw so much potential in me to help out the congregation and become a ms.. i told them i was thankful for their thinking of me to help the congregation but that at the moment i could not due to my job.

  then the began asking personal questions that got on my nerves.. they asked where i worked and how much i made.

  they asked if i was going to college and what i was studying and for how long.

  I had that kind of thing happening to me once, they caught me off guard, and being the way I am, I told way too much. Since then, whenever elders want to talk I do one of these: say I don't have time; tell them that I will be calling them when I want to talk to them; thank them for their concern, but kindly say not on this occasion.

  It's rather funny really, when the elders give you this look as if you're an evil possessed person. And all the while I just smile and show them how happy I am!

  My friend and I both had the same treatment from the individuals in the cong, their looks are almost saying “Poor you, Satan has grabbed you in his fists, you must be miserable!!”, so whenever we see any of them we put a big grin on.

  i have been around in this forum a lot but haven't written much yet.. also i had a more or less rude awakening when i realized that the religion i grew up with, the religion i sacrificed a lot for and considered to be the 'truth' is nothing but mere bs.

  it's quite a brick to digest.. my parents both are jws, elder and pioneer.

  very good people but also very brainwashed.

  My brother died tonight

  he was diagnosed in early august.

  newbie here - i need advice

  hello, i've been lurking in this forums for a while but its only now that i've created an account.

  i'm an inactive jw, been in and out sporidically these past few years, but its only these recent months after reading crisis of conscience and christian freedom that i think i will never go back there again.. the reason i've been inactive primarily is because i have issues regarding masturbation and porn.

  my conscience cannot allow to continue preaching while i continously being overcome by these habits myself.

  Hello kassad84 and welcome to the forum. I'm sorry you feel alone, I still feel that way too sometimes. It is normal at the beginning. You will find loads of awesome people here that have gone through the same thing as you, so hang in there!!!
