Faithful Witness Why are the JW's required to report every hour of field service, every bible study they conduct, every return visit they make, and every magazine they replace?

You forgot this weeks new directive: "and every tract they place".

Was good reading this discussion, such uncomfortable questions. Even though he has great hindsight, is he still willing to do everything the WT demands of him today, "whether these appear sound from a strategic or human standpoint or not"? (wt13 15/12 p.20 par. 17).

The truthful answer is that he will, of course, do everything and anything he is told to do, whether it can be corroborated by scripture or not. The bottom line is that the GB set the rules, then change them. There is no opportunity to object or promote your own independent ideas. Especially interesting is that the GB 'prove' all of their rules with scripture, then when they change they 'prove' the new rules by scripture again.

What this means is that the pre-1975 brothers would have had 1975 proven to them with scripture, so it's no use now saying "well the Bible says we do not know the hour", because the Bible WAS used to show that the GB DID know the hour.

It was no different for the brothers back then to nowadays. If the GB say 'jump' everyone tries to out jump everyone else, even selling up and quitting their jobs.

To deny this happened is to deny facts, and to deny facts is to deny yourself.

well yesterday i had a 10 minute conversation with an elder who finally got the balls to call me.

I think I would have just said "Stop being silly" then hung up.

This is what happens when you give someone authority who's only achievment in life is to do 10 hours ministry every month.

Honestly, it's just utterly unbelievable.

I think that's old light since, as someone already mentioned, they haven't yet been approved.

This will happen more and more - there have been so many changes that noone can keep up with them.

WT's 2 BOE Letters Flip-Flop!

everyone knows about the recent across-the-board okay to use electronic devices in jw worship.

few, though, know about how not long ago it was considered a taboo.. first, there was that dc talk a couple of years back where they nearly demonized simply the ownership of a smart phone, ipads (i phones, blackberries, etc) let alone the use of them at meetings.

they brought out that they were a waste of time, expensive and that they exposed a christian to satan's world on the internet.

Since they spent a load of worldwide work $$ on ipads for all of the CO's, I'm guessing the WT had no choice but to relax the rules.

Can you imagine the elders telling a CO that his shiny new tablet wasn't allowed at their KHall? Hence the additional and public emasculation of the BOE's.

So are the anointed the children or the mother? Does it matter if they are on earth or in heaven?

Should Jehovah follow the lead of the elders and the Faithful Slave where punishment is concerned?

how can one's love of god be pure while being tainted by the fear of punishment?

satan would point out that those who claim to love jehovah are merely afraid of being destroyed by him.

it is for this reason that we conclude that the only appropriate punishment for sinners would be a temporary and voluntary separation from jehovah god.

I love this paragraph from the Watchtower about punishment. It's for when we have been wronged by someone in the congregation, and explains so much about the current approach to dealing with wrongdoing. Bold for those with short attention spans ! :

New! Borg instruct to report tract placements

there's a new letter coming up next week to be read instructing the publishers to begin reporting the number of tracts placed in the ministry, including copies of kingdom news 38, annual invitations, district handbills and other tracts.

see, the borg is allegue about numbers, and why on earth do they tell you to start counting placement in the middle of a campaing, like the one they are doing now witk kingdom news 38 and not before it started??.

I wonder if we'll see a move away from magazine work and there will be many more tract and leaflet campaigns instead. That would help keep the WT publishing costs down.

Counting placements on a monthly report is used for determining the spirituality of someone, so if the magazine work reduces then they will have to count something else in their place, otherwise how will anyone know if a brother can be recommended for appointment?

10 for this is what jehovah says, when 70 years at babylon are ful?lled, i will turn my attention to you, and i will make good my promise by bringing you back to this place.. the official watch tower society teaching is that by the end of the 70 years, the jews were back in judea, and that their actual arrival in judea marks the end of the "70 years".
