ive given this new arrangement a lot of detailed thought and how greatly it benefits the wt and how much it puts a strain on each congregation.. first, let me explain how the old arrangement worked.. you had 3 donation boxes in each kingdom hall.
one for worldwide work, one for kingdom hall construction and one for congregation contributions.. the congregation contribution box accounted for about 60-75% of all donations.
the world wide work box probably accounted for 20-30% and the kingdom hall construction for about 5% of the contributions.
And it's not just Candace Conti who's got them excited.
As far as I'm aware, the Australian Branch were recently summoned to the Australian Royal Commission investigation that is taking place there, to tell their side of the story.
If this goes bad for them in Australia, there's going to be a pretty hefty compensation bill at the end of it. Better to fill the coffers now, before the congregations wake up to the fact that WT are no different to all the other religions and quit donating altogether.

the governing body is powerful, but the holy spirit is infinitely more powerful.
if the wt ever changes, it will be because of a movement such as this.. .
but sanctify the christ as lord in your hearts, always ready to make a defense before everyone that demands of you a reason for the hope in you, but doing so together with a mild temper and deep respect.
We've heard about this Reno congregation before:
http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/262450/1/Reno-Nevada-JW-Splinter-group#.U1AGDnlwb0w
i'm considering resigning as an elder.
i'm not planning to fade or stop as one of jehovah's witnesses, just stop serving as an elder.. i have responsibility in the congregation and in circuit, district, rbc, etc.
and i'm completely exhausted.
My experience is that the BOE will of course ask if you have done anything wrong that they should know about, they seem perpetually suspicious like that.
Then they will often to lighten the load for a while, enticing you to stay on.
They will also ask you to reconsider and delay accepting your resignation, after all, think of the paperwork and the questions from the C.O.!
If you stick to your story and to your guns, you will get that relief.
The short term interrogations and pain are well worth it.
When there's an announcement that "could the elders meet after the meeting" then I promise you will leave the hall smiling. And when you decide to have a lazy Saturday morning in bed 'without fear', you will know your life is better.
The congregation will still respect you, and any animosity from other elders will purely be jealousy. Leave them to it.

i know that thoughout other threads and comments, some of this question could be answered but; what in countries are kingdom halls owned by the local congregations?
here in australia, everything is already owned by the organisation..
If the WT are trustees, they do not have ownership or buying/selling rights, that remains with the congregation trustees (elders).
If the Soc has provided a loan and they are on the deeds to the Kingdom Hall, then that could be altogether different.

new guidelines for field service coming this summer.
new publication to be released giving new ways of counting time, conducting studies, group activities, etc..
I wonder if there will be a column on the new time form for the number of hours spent in Family Worship.
This would make it easy to see who's doing it and who isn't.

just read a post on jwsurvey about the new donation arrangement.
congregations are to pledge a monthly amount to be sent to the society to fund the building of assembly halls and kingdom halls.
congregations who already have a loan from the society will no longer have to pay back the loan but the amount pledged should not be less than the current monthly repayments to the society.
BTW can anyone please tell me how to start a new post? If I click on that RSS thingy it says an error occured
then select a forum and choose "new topic"

*** w59 5/1 p. 285 Sharing the Good News by Contributing Personally ***
BACK in August, 1879, this magazine said: “‘Zion’s Watch Tower’ has, we believe, JEHOVAH for its backer, and while this is the case it will never beg nor petition men for support. When He who says: ‘All the gold and silver of the mountains are mine,’ fails to provide necessary funds, we will understand it to be time to suspend the publication.”
*** w62 5/1 p. 277 How May I Contribute? ***
But because the Watch Tower Society is a charitable organization and because it does not follow the methods of Christendom’s religions, taking up money collections or tithes, there is a good deal of wonderment as to how the Society gets its money and supports itself.
*** w13 7/1 p. 4 Can You Trust Religion Regarding Money? ***
Jehovah’s Witnesses commonly meet in modest buildings called Kingdom Halls. How are expenses covered? They never pass collection plates, nor do they send out envelopes to solicit donations. Rather, any who appreciate the spiritual program can discreetly place a donation in a contribution box at the Kingdom Hall.
(2 Timothy 3:1, 2)
But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money...
as a few of you may remember, i suffer from bipolar.. when working at the uk home office, i was signed off by my doctor with depression and anxiety.. in the space of 11 months i was assessed by 2 home office doctors, both diagnosing me as unfit for work.
i eventually left.. how therefore, can stupid little people in the kh say you'll be better doing fs, ministry school and being regular at meetings??.
they have to be the most un-empathetic bunch of people on the planet.
Suffering with grief? Depression? Illness? Old age? Unemployment? Abuse at home? Family problems?
The WT has a single solution to every problem: Do More!
And if you aren't suffering at all then you should also Do More!
