Just today I found an audio clip from a 1972 district convention reaffirming 1975.
Fink was right when he pointed out the connection between the OP quote and 1975, it was a fervour.
check this out.
got this bound volume from my dad.. .

this topic has been on my mind lately.
i have been looking around at jws and wondering how many truly believe the end is as near as they are told.
from my personal experience, i know that my parents fully believe the end is imminent and may come any time now.
If there were no consequences for stopping field service, no 'encouraging visits', no "we've missed you's", no CO chasing up elders when people go irregular, no risk of DA, DF, or shunning, and no being looked down on judgmentally and being avoided by people you've known for decades, then half the JW's would walk out tomorrow.
The congregations are held together with peer pressure and fear pressure.
draw any jw's attention to watchtower's history of false predictions and invariably, somewhere down the line of the conversation, the jw will tell you that watchtower never claimed to be an inspired prophet and therefore cannot be accused of being a false prophet.
but is it really true that watchtower has never claimed to be an inspired prophet?.
technically speaking, the answer is yes - i think (if i'm wrong i'd love to see the quote).
A few excerpts, but I don't know if they meet your criteria. If you include "prophet" in quotes, there are quite a few more. Can't format it too well - using a tablet.
WT 1919 Oct 1 p.297 - "This was the test - the coming down of fire; and the fulfilment exactly on time has proved that Pastor Russell was one of God's great reformers and prophets."
w59 1/15 pp. 40-41 pars. 11-14 Down with the Old—Up with the New! -
11 Jeremiah prophesied forty years in the time of the end of the kingdom of Judah. So who will prophesy with his message in this time of the end of the nations of this world?
13 The fact that decides the answer to the question is, not, Do all the clergy of Roman Catholicism and of Protestantism agree that Jehovah's witnesses have been and are God's prophet to the nations? but, Who discerned the divine will for Christians in this time of the world's end and offered themselves to do it? Who have undertaken God's foreordained work for this day of judgment of the nations? Who have answered the call to the work and have done it down till this year 1958? Whom has God actually used as his prophet?
14 By the historical facts of the case Christendom is beaten back in defeat. Jehovah's witnesses are deeply grateful today that the plain facts show that God has been pleased to use them. All the preaching and all the Bible educational work that they have done till now in 175 countries and islands of the sea they confess has been, not by help of a military army, nor by human power, but by God's spirit, his invisible active force. (Zech. 4:6, AV) It has been because Jehovah thrust out his hand of power and touched their lips and put his words in their mouths.
Awake 6/8/1986 p.9 - "You will be interested to learn that God has on earth a people, all of whom are prophets, or witnesses for God. In fact, they are known throughout the world as Jehovah's Witnesses."
Reasoning From the Scriptures (1989) p.133 - "If any individual claim to represent God but decline to use god's personal name, and make it a practice to express their own opinions on matters, are they measuring up to this important qualification of a true prophet?"
w91 9/1 p. 29 par. 20 - By our preaching and by our very presence, we are warning the wicked. (Ezekiel 33:33) ["And when it comes true—look! it must come true—they will also have to know that a prophet himself had proved to be in the midst of them]
w99 10/1 5 "For Everything There Is an Appointed Time" - "For the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will not do a thing unless he has revealed his confidential matter to his servants the prophets." (Amos 3:7) ... For that purpose God has authorized a "faithful and discreet slave"to provide his people with "their [spiritual] food at the proper time."
w10 7/15 p. 11 par. 18 "What Sort of Persons Ought You to Be!" - "At the same time, Jehovah will honor his faithful servants by making it abundantly clear that they were, indeed, his representatives.—Read Ezekiel 2:5; 33:33."
(Eze 2:5) And as for them, whether they will hear or will refrain—for they are a rebellious house—they will certainly know also that a prophet himself happened to be in the midst of them.
(Eze 33:33) And when it comes true—look! it must come true—they will also have to know that a prophet himself had proved to be in the midst of them."
w14 11/15 p. 30 11 - "Revelation 11:3 speaks of two witnesses who would prophesy for 1,260 days... However, true to the words of the prophecy, at the end of the three and a half days, the two witnesses were brought back to life. Not only were these anointed ones released from prison but those who remained faithful received a special appointment from God through their Lord, Jesus Christ. In 1919 they were among those who were appointed to serve as a "faithful and discreet slave" to care for the spiritual needs of God’s people during the last days."

the bible does say that the "day of jehovah" (armageddon) would be associated with the sun becoming dark followed by the moon turning to blood.
but the moon turning to blood is specific to a total lunar eclipse.
Funny how these threads all run into one.

Awesome song.
Incredible album.
my ex husband and father of my daughter was never baptized but is still a believer in the wt.. a couple years ago we were talking about evolution ( which he does not believe in ) i brought up the subject of the neanderthals and how we all have their dna except africans ( the ones that never left africa ).
he said neanderthals are apes and not humans and jw's do not teach that they are humans.
i said i believe they do.. in the life- how did it get here book, under the sub heading " the human family "is says " neanderthal man....... was undoubtedly human.. his response was " they are just talking about what other people believe " ahhhhh .
Interesting paper on when humans and neandethals may have first interacted
when his children want to construct a tower that reaches to the heavens, heavenly father is unlikely to respond, saying: nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.
come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.
(gen 11:6, 7).
What are two reasons often given as to why God may have confused the languages?
1. To stop the building of the tower / city.
2. To disperse people across the world.
Why do those two reasons lack logic?
1. If building tall towers or large cities is wrong, why has God permitted it since? Did man get the upper hand on God after all?
2. If the languages were not confused at that time, would the entire population of the world today all live in one place, or would people naturally want to (or be forced to) explore, move and find their own land?

OK CharlieSmith1975 you have convinced me.
Now tell me what exactly I must do to be saved, or is your warning just that I'm going to die?
I'm sorry but I'm very dumb, you're going to have to spell it out to me, so a simple "accept Jesus" isn't enough.

You should phrase it the same way as the WT does, you know, so if it happens you can say "See, you were warned!", but if it doesn't happen you can say "We never said it was definite!".
Here's an example:
KM 2014 03 p.2 Para 4. 'Will You Seize the Opportunity?'
"Will
this Memorial be our last? We do not know."
Which is a rerun of the WT 1918 Mar 1st 'In Memory of our King'
"Whether the coming Memorial will be the last on earth, we do not,
of course, know"
So if you don't know, why say it? It's hardly a loud warning to save peoples lives, and it's sitting on the fence, playing with words, because you actually have no idea yourself.
One thing is true though. Keep saying that every month, every year "this will be it", and at some point you will be right.
No-one will be listening by then, of course.

CharlieSmith1975 PLUS, what I like about it is that it is an international sign.
The lunar tetrad you are referring to will be visible from most of the US, certainly not internationally.
CharlieSmith1975 These four eclipses are considered significant because the four eclipses fall on two primary Jewish holidays.
Since the first century, eight tetrads have coincided with Jewish holidays.
The problem with predicting things like this and them never coming true is that you discredit yourself and become the Boy who cried wolf!
Then when you predict another, then another, they fail to be warnings because you have lost all credibility.
They should call this "Watchtower Syndrome"
