What was your eye opening moment?

if you had to pinpoint the time or experience that finally made you open your eyes, what would it be?.

i think for me it was the time i saw my dad shun his brother who he had not seen in decades just because he was a da'ed jw.

i thought to my self "no way jesus would do that.

I had many things come through my mind that didn't add up, and I always pushed them back thinking that it was me, or that things would become clearer. After all, my mother got the 'truth' as a 1975'er and I was still in single figures.

- Later on I couldn't understand how we have to refuse white blood cells, but babies breast feeding and eating white blood cells is ok. There was simply no logic to this.
- I was told that Bab the Gt fell in 1918 but here it still was, with billions of adherents.
- The UN NGO thing simply amazed me and started me discussing things with others.

I started researching and saw that the "Millions" campaign was an obvious sham, and concluded that in 50 years time todays' campaigns will be seen as obvious sham's also.
I also learned about how wrong 607BCE was.

My 'wake up' website was Perimeno which I read over and over.

The final nail in the coffin was not any teaching, but it was the attitude of the WT in that they were never wrong and you could not question them, when it was patently clear they were frequently wrong. It was as if they were hiding a secret that everyone knew, but no-one was allowed to talk about it. Their subsequent flip-flop history on just about everything they ever taught made me realise you can have no trust in them whatsoever.

Now when I listen to talks on their website or talks at the Hall I see them for who they are - deceivers.
Actually, the modern day GB have completely lost the plot and will ruin the religion. The vast majority of faithful ones are the elderly, and they won't be around for ever. They ridiculed the churches for having an old and decrepit membership, but they will suffer the same fate.

so although jehovah does not promise that every individual will receive exactly the same opportunity, he does make sure that an opportunity is held out to all honesthearted ones.

What about those who never had an opportunity to hear by the time Armageddon comes?

Will they be destroyed with no resurrection, or will they just get through?

Seems there's a flaw in this logic.

If I did that, I'd find all the things I was taught as being 'Truth' are no longer so.

They were taught, explained, backed up with scripture and we had to preach them.

They have since been replaced, discredited and teaching them now would get me DF'd.

jehovah`s witnesses make a big deal about the 2 or 3 witnesses in judicial decisions yet they ignore that evidence when it suits them.. firstly :.

regarding the length of a generation matthew ch.1:17 gives a strong clue ,their are 3 lots of 14 generations mentioned which equal 42 generations from the time of abraham to jesus .. watchtower publications give abrahams birth as 2018 bc......they also give jesus birth as of 2 bc a period of 2016 years .

Now Even JW Men Are Going To Die At The Big A

so this weekend there was a part about not following jesus at a distance.

the speaker made a big point of stating that any baptized jw male who was not either appointed ms/elder, or at the very least "reaching out" actively, was in fact following jesus at a distance.

he said that the only way to live through the big a was to follow jesus closely.

The GB going beyond what the Bible says again? Well that's no surprise.

(1 Timothy 3:1) "This statement is trustworthy: If a man is reaching out to be an overseer, he is desirous of a fine work."

No guilting there, just encouragement. If you want to then great, but no punishment if you don't.
The Bible even says that some are better suited to some roles than others, not that everyone should be an elder.Besides, if the GB stuck to the qualifications listed in the 1Tim 3 and Titus 1 then more 'would' qualify.They have replaced the Bible qualifications with their own, mostly unwritten, largely BoE specific requirements.

You must be seen to be doing at least 10 hours ministry or the congregation average per month.
You need to be answering regularly.
Your wife must be in good standing.
Your children must not be pursuing higher education.
You must not have the wrong sort of facial hair.
You must not be missing meetings, even for work reasons.
You should be conducting Family Worship every week.
Your car should be clean and your house tidy.
You have to be on the Theocratic Ministry School and give decent talks.
You have to kowtow to all demands, such as not wearing bright socks or coloured shirts, if the other elders demand it.
You must not have upset anyone in the congregation recently.

I've forgotten others, but if you miss any single one of these don't expect to be an elder.

Canada Branch Finances - What's Going On?

an update on the canada branch hasn't been made (i think).. year-over-year, canada's equity decreased by 11 million in 2012, 17 million in 2013.. however, the 2014 report shows a huge increase (20 million) in the cost of "purchased supplies.

" with the shrinkage of the mags, and the push to online, how the heck did this go from 39 million to 58 million?.

even with this number, the equity in 2014 went down by a staggering 56 million.. what the heck is going on?.

the person appearing in this video was the presiding overseer of a congregation in which i was serving.

i had served in a lot of congregations over the years and had seen a lot of crazy goings on, but this particular elder was high up on the "crazy list".

That's a good observation.

Times are changing in the business world as far as accepted norms for business wear.

JW's will stick to the 1980's formula until they are told by a CO or the GB that they no longer need a suit jacket and tie.
I can't remember the last time I had a business meeting with someone dressed like this, it dates them to a time and mindset that's no longer relevant.
