The WT no longer teach that each creative day is 7000 years long.
Oops, there goes another bunch of calculations down the pan.
greetings, folks: so, it's been 40 years since 1975. and, if you were actively involved with the witnesses back then, the mindset of many was, that by early autumn of 1975, it would mark the anniversary of 6000 years of human existence.
and, the hope was then, that it would mark the start of the 1000-year of christ, from the heavenly realm.
but, looking back now, 40 years ago, in june of 1975, only 3 more months remained until early autumn.
The WT no longer teach that each creative day is 7000 years long.
Oops, there goes another bunch of calculations down the pan.
so, i left about 5 years ago and at that time, the official ruling on number of members was a little over 6 million.
i google jw out of boredom the other day and find they are now claiming 8 million members.
sooooo.... hold on 2 million increase in 5 years?
Fisherman Your projection that this is the decline of the WT, is your personal view which is not supported by the chart.
I actually said that this is the start of the decline, not that the table demonstrates a decline. And yes, I agree that this is merely my opinion. I'm not arrogant enough to state categorically what the near future holds. Unlike some, I recognise that this isn't sensible to do...
What is decline? If WT increases by 1% per year, this is less than the world population increase.
You can correctly state that the number of members are growing, but in relation to the world in general they will be reducing as a percentage of world population. To me this is not legitimate 'growth' for a group who boasts about worldwide figures.
This would be increase in isolation and nothing to be proud about, much like the 0.2% baptisms we are seeing at the conventions.
because of the may broadcast about how funds are down, our elders have been in their talks "encouraging" or pressuring everyone to donate more to the world wide work.. it freaks me out how we already give them a set amount of $600 a month, plus what is contributed by the congregation(usually $400 to $500 a month).
heck, our local congregation bank account even got below $500 for the first time this past may since i have been doing the accounts(4 years now).
for june, we raised a whopping $2400 to send into the branch.. the most amazing part, is that only a select few contribute on a regular basis every month.
A great way of creating resentment in the congregation.
(Good News Bible) "They take advantage of widows and rob them of their homes, and then make a show of saying long prayers. Their punishment will be all the worse!"
sophia either got lost or is playing the role of dorothy!.
sophia, i mean dorothy, pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!.

i'm having problems identifying a small cyst that i get every once in a great blue moon.
i like to call it a lollipop cyst because it looks like a really small lollipop.
so, it's basically a small cyst at the tip of a really small shaft (not my penis).
Is it a skin tag?
so... i have been working on an excel spreadsheet that has "ttatt in a can"... i have it both in spanish and in english.

SV Splash, do you actually have more of these changed teachings saved up? It's already an impressive list !!
I have a document which I have built up over time, it's now approaching 130 pages long of non-stop flip-flops. This is why you will see me post these type of flipflops into various threads from time to time, when they are relevant - I think it's good to expose the unstable basis of the WT faith for what it is, a never ending sequence of new ideas and reversals, promoted to look like Biblical teachings.
I see from my post here two years ago that this document has nearly doubled in size since then!
When any topic comes up I research to see what we used to believe, but major credits also have to go to jwfacts.com, Ray Franz (CoC) and these forum members.
Every WT that comes out these days adds another line to the document - the WT is going through a huge doctrinal metamorphosis.

Thanks Fisherman - I updated my earlier list of quotes to include your one.

QUITE SOME TIME - w55 2/1 p. 95 Questions From
Readers
Why, it must have taken Adam quite some time to
name all the animals, as he was commissioned to do... It was not until after
Adam completed this assignment of work that his helpmate Eve was created.
WE CANNOT KNOW - 1963 All Scripture Inspired
Whatever time elapsed between Adam’s creation and the end of the ‘sixth day’ must be subtracted from the 5,988 years in order to give the actual length of time from the beginning of the ‘seventh day’ until [1963]. It does no good to use Bible chronology for speculating on dates that are still future in the stream of time.
A SHORT TIME - w68 5/1 p. 271 par. 4 Making
Wise Use of the Remaining Time
it is logical that he would create Eve soon after
Adam, perhaps just a few weeks or months later in the same year,
WE DON'T KNOW - w76 7/15 p. 437 par. 25
Keeping a Balanced View of Time
We do not know whether it was a brief time such as
a month or a few months, a year or even more.
SOME TIME - w81 9/15 p. 26 par. 1 If a
Relative Is Disfellowshiped
After Adam had been alone for some time, God said: "It
is not good for the man to continue by himself." Then He created Eve.
So in 1968, soon after the WT started the whole 1975 buzz, the WT taught that Eve was logically created within a year of Adam. Despite having no proof, this conveniently supported their date setting.
Then in 1976 when it had all gone wrong for them, Eve's creation was conveniently pushed back by a year or more.
Watchtower's teachings are based, not on what the Bible teaches, but on what is most convenient for them at any particular time.

Prior to 2000 the increase was 5% - 6%. After nothing happened it dropped to 1.5% - 2%.
Leading up to 2014 the increase was 2% - 2.5%. After nothing happened I can see it dropping to less than 1%.
The general disappointment will start to become apparent from here on and the yearly increase figures will reflect this. Especially now people are using the internet more than ever, coupled with the bad publicity the WT are getting all over the world, this is the start of the decline of the WT.
on one hand, wtbts blame you if you choose to work instead of pioneering, and on the another hand, they ask crazily amount of money!.
isn't it paradoxal ?.
if every jw leave his job and pioneer, no more money!.
I am a native English speaker, and I also do not know the difference between them both!!
