Just found out my older brother has passed away

i have just found out that my brother (who was one of a bunch that shared this login) has died.. he and his wife were living in another country where they once pioneered.

i didn't see him that often.. such an empty feeling.....

on jw broadcasting malenfant's latest video, "do not be misled by the wicked" states (@ 4:30) "did it (the serpent) take a bite of the forbidden fruit and because of that was she allowed to gain this ability to speak?".

where does malenfant get the idea that the serpent in the garden was female?.

interesting, because malenfant, like the governing body, adds to scripture what is not there.

i saw an instagram post showing a short clip of a talk being given in one of our southern states.

the talk clip showed speaker making the statement, "jehovah doesn't want anyone to know satans real name, jehovah hates satan so much, he doesn't even want his name mentioned" .

i posted in comments: matt 5:44-48 with the full scripture rendered from niv.

Does it matter if no one knows his original name?

It's not as if he doesn't have a name, its just not his original one.

People change their names all the time if they don't like what they were given, maybe Satan did the same.

At the end of the day, Satan has a name - Satan.

If we're going to get picky we could also say that God has hidden his own name, since no one knows how to pronounce it. It doesn't matter though because He's been given a name.

What's the big deal?

Village Idiot The thing I don't understand about the "overlapping generation" teaching is why there can't be more than just two "generations".

Actually, by their own specific definition, there could be three overlapping generations.

The first group saw 1914, but those who overlap constitute the other group.

The WT do not define that the overlap is later than the 1914 generation, since there was also a generation who overlapped before 1914 and include CTR, George Storrs and Henry Grew.

For legalistic wordsmiths like the WT, I would expect better.

How about a slight change to Searchers killer question to "Do you believe that everything the faithful slave has said in the past was correct?"

If they say "yes" then ask why they have changed stuff.

If they say "no" then say "so they CAN be wrong!"

If they say "it was right at the time", then add "but it was wrong later?"

we are not living today among theocratic nations where such members of our fleshly family relationship could be exterminated for apostasy from god and his theocratic organization, as was possible and was ordered in the nation of israel in the wilderness of sinai and in the land of palestine... (and a bit later)..being limited by the laws of the worldly nation in which we live and also by the laws of god through jesus christ, we can take action against apostates only to a certain extent, that is, consistent with both sets of laws.. so let me get this straight: if our secular pesky laws were not an obstacle and jesus was not in the way we'd be hunted and exterminated?.
