If this means the end of cosy chats with long time return visits I can see the field service losing one of its only plus points.

Can you imagine pioneers with 20 such calls telling them they're not coming anymore because they're a waste of time?

They will lose places to go when it's cold or raining, toilet stops, placements, return visits or studies on their report card, and easy time.

Getting your WT files deleted (UK)

the uk are tightening up their data protection laws to make it easier for individuals to get hold of the information organisations hold on them and to get it deleted.. i think paul grundy (jwfacts) went through this with wt once and found it very time consuming and difficult.. will wt now abide by the law and hand over or permanently delete the records it keeps when requested?it would mean every uk exjw could have their report card info, personal file with age, sex, baptism date, judicial information, appointment/deletion/disfellowshipping dates, letters of disassociation, letters of recommendation when you move, phone number and address permanently removed.

anyone acting for the wt (elders) who retain this information, eg your phone number in their phone or the secretary keeping your historical monthly report details, will be in violation.

failure to comply will incur a fine.. expect a letter to all boe's any time soon explaining why this does not apply to them.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-40826062.

I agree.

If you've requested your files be deleted and they come back with information about you, they have proven they did not delete the files as mandated by law.

Same as if they come shepherding you after you've requested to be removed from their files. They should not act on personal information (like your address) that they should no longer know.

A small update on this.

The EU laws will be brought in from May 2018.
There's a description of "The right to erasure (the right to be forgotten)" which is very interesting.

If you ask to be forgotten by the WT but in the future they contact you (e.g. the elders phone or call on you), they may have violated this directive and the financial penalties are potentially high.

Who's going to be first to try it?

JW critically injured after being electrocuted in assembly hall

a newspaper reports that in bornem, belgium, a jw volunteer was critically injured after being electrocuted:.

bornem - a man was electrocuted while performing maintenance on a high voltage installation in the assembly hall of jw in bornem friday afternoon.

the man was critically injured.. possibly the man, who is a volunteer with the jw, tried to clean the installation with a vacuum cleaner.

Belgium is the heart of EU bureaucracy, I'm certain there will be an inquest.

Hopefully they will inspect the rest of the building and the operating procedures too. This is another opportunity for God's organisation to be improved by Satan's more caring system.

The victim was transported to a hospital in Sint-Niklaas.

I find it ironic that he was treated at Father Christmas' hospital.

JWs MUST Accept The Watchtower Teachings EVEN When They Are Wrong!

isn't it unbelievable that a jehovah's witness must accept whatever the organization says or they can be disfellowshipped??

unless they tell you that their understanding has changed, you cannot believe anything unless they say it's ok. .

many years ago i questioned them about their ridiculous view that whenever the word "heart" was mentioned, it was a literal blood filled organ.

You don't need authority to do that, just a little bit of common sense and honesty.

Pioneers Living With Married Couple

a baptized married couple, with no privileges that we know of, have opened their home to 2 unmarried regular pioneers because of the pioneers' financial issues (limited income).. - husband works from home.

- wife doesn't work and stays home or in service.

Need help with a reference dealing with the Generations and SPLAINE

when originally explaining the "new generations" splaine used the example of joseph and his brothers.. he backed up the time difference between the original anointed, and the new ones by using what he said was a big age difference between the youngest "joseph" and his oldest brothers.. then more recently in a jw broadcast - he said that there was not a big age difference between joseph and his oldest brother.. can any one help me find both those, please?.
