Joel's prophesy and the 1919 "fake anointing"
by raymond frantz infor many decades the writing department of the watchtower has been claiming that joel's prophesy in joel 2:28 had its modern fulfilment in the period between 1919-1922 :"after that i will pour out my spirit on every sort of flesh, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions.".
what were the miracles performed during these assem blies ?
why are these verses connected with the begining of the last days ?

There's a confusing statement from the 1950's:
*** w53 2/15 p. 119 par. 23 When Will God’s Kingdom Come? ***God knew that Satan the wicked one would attempt to turn the attention of the people away from God’s kingdom when it was established. So it was when Satan was ousted from the heavens down to the earth. He was wrathful. He plunged the nations into World War I. He wanted to turn the attention of the people away from the significant event that then was taking place and he proceeded to do so in the most deceptive ways.
In summary:
1. When the kingdom was established, Satan would divert peoples attention from it.
2. This is what happened when Satan was ousted from heaven.
3. Satan plunged the nations into WW1So it says two conflicting things:
All these things must have happened prior to October, since that's when WW1 started.
However all these things are linked to the establishing of the kingdom which happened in October.I've tried, but I can't grasp this.

It would be interesting to have some present (Stonewall?) at these meetings to witness and record talk number three on the TMS.
Talk 3 - "What the Bible says about homosexuality" (Reasoning Book p.368-369)
The Reasoning book tells us in part:
"True Christians know that even deeply rooted wrong desires, including those that may have a genetic basis or that involve physical causes or environmental factors, are not insurmountable for persons who truly want to please Jehovah... Likewise, a person may feel strongly attracted to others of the same sex, but by heeding the counsel of God’s Word he can remain clean from homosexual practices. Jehovah does not allow us to go on thinking that wrong conduct really makes no difference; he kindly but firmly warns us of the consequences...""Those who apply this counsel safeguard themselves against the deep emotional scars and loathsome diseases that go with immoral conduct. The Bible’s counsel is very much up to date in meeting the needs of those who want a clean conscience before God and a life free from needless frustration."
I bet the students giving this talk will do their best to speak of it in a hateful way, maybe even an illegal way.
I can see that one day some speaker will really land in deep water for publicly extolling the WT view of homosexuality. If this ever happens, the resulting turmoil for the speaker and the way he would be left to fight his own corner would surely make others see how vulnerable they are when giving public talks.

Contradictory geneology of Jesus
by rebel8 inso i'm reading another carl sagan book and he seems to invariably find a way to slam j-dubs in each one.
(i can't say i blame him.).
anyway, in this one he discusses the fact that the gospels give contradictory geneologies of jesus--differing lines back to david from joseph, and a different number of generations.

HowTheBibleWasCreated ... this geneology places Jesus as not one almost...
Could you rephrase this in a way that makes sense?

jw logo vs people who wear a cross. IDOL WORSHIP IS STILL IDOL WORSHIP
by goingthruthemotions inlast week out in service i saw an elder wearing a jw.org pin.
and thought.....hmmm isn't this idol worship?
what a double standard.....it's ok to promote the borg with a pin...but not ok to promote jesus by wearing a. cross?.

Wear a pin that just says "Jesus", white text on blue background.
The brothers would feel uncomfortable about that.

Thoughts on the new 'God's Kingdom Rules!' book
by sd-7 ini was feeling a little melancholy earlier this week and i decided to start reading wt literature again, just to see what was new and improved.
and it seems that, as has consistently been the case, the more i read of the literature, the more i see that i made the right choice to leave.. the first chapter goes into explaining what the kingdom is, then it looks like they must've essentially cut and pasted from the recent wt study articles about the 'harvest' illustration and about the two groups of anointed = one generation, but there's a third group of anointed who aren't part of 'this generation' (but, i imagine, probably will be someday, i mean, if two groups decades apart in age can be part of one generation, why not three?).
it's interesting, looking at it again after all this time.

Unfortunately there is an error in oubliettes chart, which prologos refers to.
The overarching label "The Overlapping Generation" actually starts and ends only on the first group. To truly delineate the end of the overlapping generation it would have to end in the 2070's, at the end of the second group.
And if we are getting into details, there's an earlier group of anointed which pre-date those who pass through 1914, eg the apostles.
This brings to number of groups to 4.

JW teachings that have remained the same
by Splash inteachings that have remained the samewhen you highlight the continual ebb and flow of changing teachings, a jw may refer you to the long held teachings which have never changed.
core doctrines such as the importance of using gods name, and the trinity, hellfire and immortality of the soul all being false.
but even here things are not as simple as they could be:.

Dis-Member 4 teachings? That's just grand.
To be fair, these are 'core' doctrines.
If we included other, less important teachings that had never changed, we could add:
Our view of organ transplants. erm, actually, sorry, no we couldnt.
The edenic serpent had legs? um, nope that changed too.
Vaccinations? Hemoglobin? Nah, changed.
Worshipping Jesus? Try again.
Lecithin? Pinata? Disfellowshipped can partake of the Lords evening meal? No-ho! all changed.
Can greet a disfellowsipped person? Ministerial Servants can sit on Judicial committees? Praying for DF'd ones? All changed again.
Hmm....Meaning of 'marking'? Who are the 'superior authorities'? Who sowed the mustard grain? Who are the Glorious Ones? Who the Alpha and Omega is? Who replaced Judas as the 12th apostle? If resurrected ones can marry? when the 1260 days, 1290 days, 1335 days or 2300 days begin and end?
How about if Matt 24:14 has been fulfilled yet? Will there be another world war? How long a creative day is? If Zoo's are good or bad? How many keys to kingdom there are? Who is the 'True Lord'? If Every eye will see Jesus? When the 2nd presence began? 10 toes on Daniels image? If there will be a rapture? At what age to get baptised? The guaranteed 1925 earthly resurrection? How to remove a tattoo? If you can be sexually sterilised? Seperating of the sheep and goats? The Mustard seed? The wise and foolish virgins? What is a Generation? Who Jesus is mediator for? If we can vote? If Jesus had a beard? How bodies will be disposed of after amageddon? If you must only marry in the Lord? What reasons permit you to get divorced? When The End will be? Adam's skin colour? How long Adam was alive before Eve was created? if women can be MS's? If JW's are prophets? If Adam will be resurrected? When the harvest began? When 6,000 years will be up? Who Michael is? If Chess is safe to play? Who are Ordained ministers? Who are the seven Shepherds and eight Dukes? When the anointed were sealed? If alternative military service is allowed? When Babylon the Great fell? Who the 12 tribes in Rev refers to? What is the sin that easily entangles us? If there will be a Rapture.
Well wouldn't you know it - all changed!
OK Dis-Member, 4 teachings.

Hi designs,
the full 'trinity' quote from that article (emphasis theirs) is
*** w89 3/15 p. 18 par. 3 Insight That Jehovah Has Given ***
Building on this foundation, way back in 1882 these dedicated Bible students clearly stated in the Watch Tower: “Our readers are aware that while we believe in Jehovah God and Jesus, and the holy Spirit, we reject as totally unscriptural, the teaching that these are three Gods in one person, or as some put it, one God in three persons.”
In fact, all of the quotes in the OP are from the exact same WT and exact same article. It was called "Insight That Jehovah Has Given"
