  Terminology the Society Hates?

  in my most recent talk, i got counseled for using some terms that were not prefered.

  for example i said "new testament" rather than "the christian greek scriptures".

  i also used the term "gospel", but even worse, i made reference to the "synoptic gospels" and the "gnostic gospel".. i guess i never thought of it before, but when i looked at the societies information on the matter they always say things like, "the so-called new testament..." or "the so-called synoptic gospels..." why with all the "so-called?".

  i wonder how many of these are "anointed"?

  That "replacements" theory was debunked and tossed out by the WT years ago. If they were replacements then the total number left on earth would stay the same or decrease.

  The numbers are up 50% or more from the year 2000.

  At the same time, the WT also said the new ones didn't have to be longserving - that too is an old teaching. As for fourth or sixth generation, since when does someone's choosing depend on what their great,great,great,great grandparents did 150 years ago?

  i've seen this part of the agm folded in with other topics and poked around, but no really critical discussion of the implications.. .

  the hermenuetics of the type/anti-type practice was a big deal to me in realizing the tatt.

  i searched high and low for a rational basis for concluding that god was communicating in a type/anti-type format that wasn't special pleading and circular.

  i read here recently that the khs are being instructed to buy and install projector systems.. now that we've seen the launch of of tv.jw.org we can fully expect public talks to - on a monthly basis at least - be replaced by content streamed from the site to the screens in khs.. .

  Does this mean that if we are the victim of a crime or are threatened in some other way, we should just meekly accept it? By no means! When Paul said, “Keep conquering the evil with the good,” he did not mean that a Christian should be obsessed with being a martyr. On the contrary, when attacked, we certainly have the right to defend ourselves.

  Seems like he did the right thing in getting Old Testament on the intruder.

  The video clip at 20 mins is all about a young teenager being bullied at school.
  This is something so serious it has often caused young persons to end their lives.

  This family look to the Bible to learn how to endure the bullying and how to rely on Jehovah.
  Speaking to a responsible adult or a teacher is seen as almost an afterthought.

  Any other parent would immediately approach the school and actually DO something about it.
  For more serious incidents of bullying the police may even be involved.

  Aaah, and now it's broken because it can't cope with the demand.

  Bro Lett tells us "The GB have approved this station on a trial basis only". The video then explains how Jehovah has clearly blessed this new arrangement.
  So if Jehovah has clearly blessed this, it seems the GB will determine whether to continue running with it or not.
