i can't imagine for one second that the wbt$ supply the apathy trollies they'll make the r&f pay for them.
or does the wbt$ supply the apathy trolley and charge over the odds for them?.
so...........do jws construct them?.
Eh up Punky!
I wonder what the next thing will be that they come up with to get more money coming in.
Recently we have had
- Specific requests for the congregation to give to our nearest assembly hall, per publisher (resolution carried)
- The "what can you donate monthly" survey
- A resolution (carried) to pay monthly to the branch, in place of the SKHF fund
- A resolution (carried) to pay so much per month to replace the KHAA arrangement
I know there are more - it seems whenever there's a local need, the need is always for more money, and it's never local.
Keep rocking!

I think there's another income stream in that the WT also send new trolley posters for each new set of magazines.
These advertise the current magazines, and are sent to every congregation each month.
I can't imagine for a moment that these are free.

sorry about the confused nature of the topic but my mom (who still goes to the kh meetings) said that there will be an "assembly" on sunday where there will be a prerecorded message or talk of some sort and that it will only be half a day and won't need to bring lunch.
anyone else have heard of these or gone to one?.
i know they are changing a lot of things.
Or is it the Annual Meeting that was recorded and uploaded to jw tv?
That meeting is a full 4 hours long, complete with a slot asking for more money of course.
At 2:40 Mark Sanderson reads a letter to those attending (and for those watching later):
"Well now here's one announcement we'd like to make.
Each of us has an opportunity to share in the joy of making voluntary offerings.
Contribution boxes are located throughout the facilty for those who would like to give financial support to the worldwide work.
In addition, donations can be made by debit or credit card.
Please note that all contributions to the worldwide work of Jehovah's Wittnesses are cared for by the local branch office.
Therefore, it would be appreciated if those who contribute by cheque would simply make their cheques payable to 'Jehovah's Witnesses'.
You may be seated"

hello guys & gals!.
we've just launched our brand new episode, s01e01 - irwin zalkin, which we recorded last night.. you can listen to it right here - http://www.jwpodcast.org/2014/11/03/s01e01-irwin-zalkin.
in this ground-breaking bumper show, we interview irwin zalkin, the lawyer who filed and won this new child abuse case against the watchtower organisation, which saw the victim, jose lopez awarded $13.5 million.. i think you'll agree with me (after listening to the interview) that irwin really knows his 'watchtower' stuff!.
It won't look like they're capitulating to anyone, because only the elders will know of the new rules.
My point 3 said that if anyone is found guilty in court then they WOULD be df'd as well. Easily done, you can be df'd for anything they want. Brazen conduct?
They would sell it as a demonstration of how they abhor child abuse, yada yada, and the R&F would have an answer for any opposer's.
Add a police check prior to any potential appointments, and the legal and moral sides are solved, and the biblical 2 witness rule stays intact.

My prediction as to how the WT will adjust their teachings in response to the mounting cases they are having to defend.
1. New instructions to report all allegations of abuse to the authorities
2. Maintain the 2 witness rule for all internal procedures
3. If someone is convicted as a result of 1. then df them as well
This is how to have your cake and eat it.

CHURCH SEX SCANDAL
“For years, Roman Catholic priests and other church workers in Newfoundland parishes had repeatedly abused dozens of children, most of them young boys, many of them orphans in the care of their attackers,” reports Canada’s newsmagazine Maclean’s. With reports of sexual abuse mounting each month...faith and trust of many Catholics in their priests have been shaken. Most disturbing is the accusation that sexual abuse in the church not only has been long-standing but has usually been covered up and the offending priest simply moved to another parish where new offenses were sometimes committed. “The Roman collar, once worn with pride, has become a source of embarrassment and suspicion,” says Paul Stapleton, vice-chairman of the St. John’s Catholic school board. “The recent events put all priests under a cloud of spoken or silent suspicion."

*** g90 11/8 p. 31 ‘Our Shame Is Clear to the Whole World’ ***
The Times reported: “The Archbishop of Newfoundland has resigned after charges that the Roman Catholic Church’s hierarchy ignored or failed to deal effectively with three years of scandal involving allegations of sexual abuse against altar boys, orphaned youths and others by Roman Catholic priests and church laymen.”
Usually these cases are hushed up, and no significant disciplinary action is taken. Perhaps a priest is transferred to another parish or duty, where the depravity might start again. On this occasion the archbishop was moved to resign after stating: “We are a sinful church. We are naked. Our anger, our pain, our anguish, our shame are clear to the whole world.”—Compare Revelation 17:15-18.
A judicial inquiry showed that accusations had been made over a period of 15 years, but the police and government officials failed “to act decisively against the offenders.” And even worse, the church hierarchy failed to act decisively. They were accused of being more concerned about the offending priests than about the victims.

i've noticed a lot of topics being bumped recently with "bttt" (back to the top) comments or "marked" as the reply.. i'd appreciate if people think twice before doing this.
simply forcing topics back to the top even though there is nothing to say on them is not helpful and negates the usefulness of having an active topics view.
if everyone did this with every topic they want to push then things would quickly deteriorate so i don't believe some should be allowed to do it for whatever reason.. by all means post new and relevent comments to a topic but short esp single-word non-comments that are simply used to push certain topics back to the top are likely to be interpreted as spam and removed or blocked if necessary.. .
