Elders took him in the back room and said he had to lose the well groomed and dignified beard.
Study quit associating - never seen again. True story.
To the elders, enforcing an unwritten rule beyond their jurisdiction was more important than saving a soul.
BTW, how many 1,000's of hours does it take to bring in just one convert?

In the '70s there was a WT which mentioned beards in the same sentence as hippies.
In the 2010's there was a WT which correlated beards with pirates.
No-one wants to be a hippy pirate, so beards are banned.
Actually there has never been a letter, publication or rule to say you can't have a beard.
The nearest they come to formalising it is if you are a convention speaker then you can't have one.
Read the Theocratic School book and it just talks about being neat and clean.
Every ruling at a congregation level comes from an implied reading of disapproval from the WT's that I mentioned above.

the royal commission finally uploaded a redacted version of the 2015 branch manual.
watchtower lawyers were looking to have as much redacted from this manual as possible.

Point 3. "While the Governing Body delegates certain details or responsibilities to committees made up of its own members, to committees made up of other dedicated servants of God, or to instruments such as corporations and legal agencies, the Governing Body always takes the lead in promoting the smooth functioning of the organisation and the unity of all of Gods people".
Point 4. The Governing Body gives final approval for new publications as well as new audio and video programs.
Point 6. [...] The Governing Body has the prerogative to use its discretion and look into any matters it deems necessary to examine with regard to the Kingdom work.

18. Factors to consider: At times, the conduct of an individual may not be classified as child abuse from the perspective of the congregation, but from a legal standpoint he may be viewed as guilty of such.
19. ... if the one who views child pornography does not involve anyone else in his actions, this is not considered to be child abuse from a congregational standpoint.
no doubt we noticed the royal commission ask vin toole (and i think terry o'brien) about the expression "theocratic warfare"?.
they were asked to explain it and what is meant to witnesses.. vin outrightly lied when he said he "had never heard of that expression!".
i remember him using that term in conversations and talks many times!!

The line starting "The faithful witness does not commit perjury when testifying" is attributed to w2004 Nov p. 28.
To be more accurate it should be w2004 Nov 15 p.28.
