  I know this shouldn’t bother me...but

  so i woke up this morning with nothing planned for the day.

  i rolled out of bed around 9am and went to local mcky ds to get some breakfast, and lord and behold there was a group of jdubs sitting around eating and sipping on coffee, probable counting time.

  anyway, i glanced over and recognized all of them and they glanced back at me.

  St. George I'm sure those in Scotland and Northern Ireland will be delighted to have the opportunity to drive to Chelmsford, buy their hat and boots in order to work for the day before returning home satisfied

  Just like the ministry then. Start on a nearby call, drive about for a few hours and end on a call back in town. Everyone self deceives by proudly giving Jehovah their time, but achieving precisely nothing.

  i'm so thankful for sites such as this.

  i realise it's our imperfection but god's organization is not always open to 'outside the box' thinkers such as ourselves.

  i've been researching dinosaurs and god's reason for not preserving these beasts beyond the flood of noah's day.

  So the Bible lies then. Noah was not instructed to preserve two of every kind at all. He was told to exclude certain animals to ensure their extinction.

  Why does the Bible lie about this? What else has it lied about?

  Maybe you don't "think outside the box" quite as much as you imagine you do.

  Pull the Plug Already...

  after reading and seeing so many detailings of the dealings with people in this religion, i have to wonder how to get people who are just extremely asleep.

  reasoning doesn't seem like it works, there needs to be some kind of plug pull event, like the leaders doing something so uterly stupid that it causes the immediate downfall of the entire religion.

  but because i am naturally curious i want to know from people who have more experience with jw structure why they seem to have a resistance to an event like this?

  Waking up is less about finding the truth about the WT, but more about dropping the emotional barriers in order to accept the truth about the WT.

  Thanks MMM, I still have the comparison work from your original project - brilliant problem solving!

  I've found all the differences in the above list. Most are single character changes or insertions, with just a few textual changes.

  Oil trees become pine trees and a couple of other minor changes which do not appear to have a fundamental thought change.

  For your info, a font change wouldn't trigger a hit in your algorithm because a font is merely a collection of glyphs which overlay the underlying unicode values.

  So the Awake! from 27 years ago is the last reference to Hanukkah and merely says "there is no reason for Christians to commemorate Hanukkah".

  Their reasoning is that the old Law no longer applies. Maybe they should remember that when they start using the Hebrew scriptures to create their own catalogue of laws. Anyway...

  There's no reason to have fish on a Friday, but it's not wrong to.

  There's no reason to do lots of things, but if you do do them they're not necessarily wrong.

  That WT article also quotes Paul as saying "let no man judge you in eating and drinking or in respect of a festival ", which is precisely what WT try to do.

  The bottom line is that WT would like to stop you from celebrating Hanukkah, and tries to word things in such a way as to make you think you shouldn't, but they are once again over stepping their authority and making rules they cannot justify.

  My recommendation is that if you see a JW on the street, at a cart or at your door, wish them Happy Hanukkah and see how they squirm!

  i have thought long and hard about this, you know in those midnight hours.. you will probably string me alive in what i say, but here you go-.

  i feel that the jw's do have the truth.

  i do agree with the doctrines and biblical exgenesis they propound.i do feel that they have the 'truth' i do understand they are imperfect, and i think they have had to 'refine' their teachings as time has gone on-and change accordingly- i see nothing wrong with this.

  Hi Scotty, instead of feeling, why not look at the facts?

  WT have been wrong so many times they have worse predictions than a fair ground fortune teller.

  And what about this New Light? Is it really new light from God when they change a teaching, then change it back again? You say it's the truth, but don't you realise that it has changed countless times and will continue to change? What you call "The Truth" today is not the same as the truth yesterday and not the same as the truth tomorrow. It ping pongs back and forth more than a Chinese table tennis competition. How can you trust life decisions to something so wishy washy?

  Don't believe it's as bad as I say, read this.

  How do JWs pronounce COBE?

  when i was a witness, we had presiding overseer, and would say p-o for short.

  do they spell it out when they say cobe or do they say it with as a word?
