JW Broadcasting: Russian Convention Travel Report w/Mark Sanderson
by pale.emperor inhttps://tv.jw.org/#en/mediaitems/latestvideos/pub-jwb_201709_12_video.
a few things about this video:.
it's very nice that they managed to host a convention for the russian brothers and sisters, and that they all got fed.

A typical tourist will go into Russia on a single trip visa. This is valid for 30 days. It requires a letter of invite from an approved agency, typically the hotel you are staying at or the agency you booked through but can be obtained from other online sources easily. It has a start date and therefore an end date of 30 days later. You can go into the country at any point during the 30 days and leave at any point. This is regardless of any dates you may put down for your expected dates of entry and exit. You do not have to have a return ticket just so long as you leave before your visa expires.

Russia has single visit and double 30 day max visas that do not require any info on flights, just a letter of invite which can be got off the internet for £25. You need to specify a start date but that's it. Oh, and say if you are a member of a banned organisation. Which they weren't until the appeal failed hence the need to get out there and then.
Regardless, I'd have thought it would have been sensible to have booked changeable tickets home anyway or even some cheap tickets to say Germany or the U.K., just in case.

Mexico News Daily: Blood transfusion case before Supreme Court

Er no FM... in this case court offered the plaintiff a route to try an alternative, only reverting to a court order to enforce a transfusion if the alternative did not work.
The plaintiff did not accept this. She wants the threat of a court order removed completely.
Do you think this woman is acting alone or will she be acting with the support and guidance of the WT legal team?
It's another example of the WT arguing beyond a reasonable position purely for the sake of their doctrine. The law says X, the WTS wants Y. Will they accept X? No.

I think there are only two likely situations. Either it's most (if not all) of the same data per country as it always has been or it's headline figures for the globe or large regions at most. Why?
I personally don't think they can reduce most of the data if following the original country by country report. For example, number of hours, placements, baptisms etc. The only column that might disappear is the number of partakers. They will not lose the number of baptised. They will not lose total hours. They are very unlikely to lose placements. They will not lose number of pioneers etc.
The only way to hide the underlying trends is to move away from a country by country report and to a global headline but I don't think they really will do that. I think it will be close to what we have now, just on the website like this https://www.jw.org/en/publications/books/2017-yearbook/jehovahs-witnesses-service-report-2016/

Sorry for the typo. I meant more holes than a sieve.
The feed into the world of bloodless medicine is interesting and there is no doubt that somewhere along the line there are Witnesses making money. I've no idea if the WT corporation has a financial interest in the technology and is profiting from such an inestment, if so then the exposure of this would constitute a scandal in my opinion.
I don't think that anyone would deny that medical advances that improve outcomes and reduce risk are valuable but the whole point of the WT doctrine is that certain blood transfusions are prohibited purely for doctrinal reasons and the relative safety of a procedure is irrelevant.

It's the encouragement of this almost fanatical approach to preventing certain blood transfusions taking place that makes it so hard for the WTS to back down on the doctrine. It's not just life and death from a physical perspective - they have made it life and death in terms of the stakes with God. Do EVERYTHING you can to resist. RIP out the needle. Having blood is analogous to RAPE. There is NO COMPROMISE. If a Witness does not do this then they risk ruining their relationship with God.
I listened to a PT yesterday on blood - full of logical inconsistencies and outright lies. The indoctrination continues regardless of the fact it is an horrendous policy with more holes that sieve. They cannot back down completely and so the circus continues.

Jehovah’s Witnesses Recognize That People Have the Right to Change Religions, Just Not Their Religion

jehovahs witnesses say that people have the right to change religions and that they deserve respect when it comes to that right, but this is not something that they offer to those who leave their religion.

Classic situation at Circuit Assembly Day
by freddo inso i've just skived off to the car park half way through our assembly day - what a classic morning.. i'm sat right behind an early-teen kid with some sort of special needs (autistic?
) who's sat with what looks like his late-30's harassed single parent mother.
(or married to an unbelieving mate?

In the past there was a yearly item in the KM (can't be bothered to look up a reference right now TBH) that reviewed highlights of the yearly report in the YB. I think this item replaces this previous ones based on the YB.
TBH most of these things are the same shite different toilet. The CLAM is essentially the same as the old school and service meeting, just packaged with videos. There's still student talks, demos, discussion of the group book.
The WTS still intends publishing figures. Whilst it remains to be seen if there is a change in the format I suspect that there won't be anything of significance. Most people ignore the detail and look at the big numbers. There has been evidence of a downward trend in the efficacy of ministry for YEARS yet few even realise it let alone care. The WTS banks on the wilful ignorance of the masses and I see no reason for that to change.
At the end of the day, the WTS NEEDS the figures to be published. It likes the headline numbers. It's a reason for reporting. Their usefulness for propaganda outweighs the risks posed by analysis by those critical of the WTS.
I also think that some opposed to the WTS are a little overconfident about how much the WTS really cares about what is said here, on Reddit and the internet in general. Whilst they do take action about certain things they tend to ignore or, at worst, demonise opposition. Rather like the Germans in WWII who were so confident that their Enigma cipher machine was unbreakable they made the rookie mistake of using the equivalent of an "admin/admin" password combination as an encryption marker, the WTS assumes that very few people will actually look at what apostates have to say. I think they ignore the risks posed by cash grabs, annual report analysis, logical assessment of doctrines and policies and so on. The cost to the org is simply not sufficient for them to completely change habits of a lifetime.
