Maybe someone should ask Fisherman what his opinion of the suitability of the JW child protection policy is? Given his ability to have an opinion on everything else I am sure we would get a quick response. I'm a bit busy but I nominate @dubstepped to have a go perhaps?

Fisherman has, in principle, made a couple of reasonable points. There is a privacy aspect to the release of confidential files, especially in the case of where essentially you are talking about allegations as opposed to proven cases of abuse. As a parent I would also say that there is a responsibility on them to ensure their children are as safe as possible.
However, in the context of the larger picture about JW child abuse, these are red herrings.
The courts have determined there is legal merit in the WT releasing the information from their files and they could easily cooperate with the authorities to ensure data is handled in a responsible manner to ensure that justice is served to everybody's benefit - especially the victims. Right now the one group left out of this loop of justice are the victims and it is simply immoral for the WTS to ignore them on the pretence of protecting others.
As for the responsibility of parents there are two obvious issues with a blanket statement about their responsibilities. Firstly, a high number of abuse incidents are perpetrated by at least one parent, sometimes with the knowledge, even support, of the other. Other close, naturally trusted, family members are also abusers. Secondly, the WTS breeds a culture of trust amongst it's members. Where you have elders abusing their position to abuse minors then you cannot simply transfer the blame onto the parents.

Even now I give most COs the benefit of the doubt as to their motives and methods. Company men one and all but not as misguided as the rest of us when in. Some had a genuine interest in people and were warmer than others. Some were not friendly or easy company but that's personality. Philip Rose on the other hand....
THE worst, THE most vindictive, THE most power crazed CO I have ever come across. The only good thing I can say is that his presence in our hall as CO speed up my withdrawal from activity as a Witness. It was after his first visit and the bile he spewed in the MS/Elders meeting that I resigned as an MS.

ExJW responsible for calling the police at the Warwick protest, NOT Watchtower
by Diogenesister inaccording to the great apostate, who spent time with police officers at the protest, they informed him that it was not watchtower who called the police in but another exjw who briefly attended the protest and subsequently disapproved of the protesters methods...claiming they were being "violent".. i find this very difficult to understand.
anyone who saw the bravery of the women who stood up in the kingdom hall and told the story of their abuse and rape could not fail to feel compassion and offer their support.. i know there are posters on this forum who disagree with me.they worry that such protests play into watchtowers "persecution" complex, and naturally i understand their position.. but really, how long do we have to fear their power over their members, and through their members, us.. many jw's simply do not know the extent of the paedophile problem,.they do not know about malawi, the un, the bloodless surgery guinea pig deaths ( thank you orphan crow), the suicides....i simply don't believe that protests don't work....if there are enough of them, and they are organized, and most of all if we are united...we shall make a difference, and that difference may be your loved one.. https://youtu.be/ffhr9onbdrk.

@steve2 - yes you are right. I am only speculating so it's impossible to say what the reason for the upset is and it could easily be the invasive nature of the filming. I think it's still an unusual reaction compared to the stony faces we normally see in these types of videos.

Adam and the Dinosaurs
by The Real Edward Gentry inhere is a fascinating subject.
according to the bible , one of adam's first assignments was to name all the animals including the sea creatures and dinosaurs of course.
we don't know how long this took but, as all witnesses know, the time period is crucial in working out the timing of armageddon).

minds - *mouths
I was working in the middle of the night...
Many people say that what eventually got them thinking was not facts, but something personal that brought about an emotional response for them, it's true.
This is true. I poured over facts for a couple of years - blood, creation, the generation, the flood etc. I was aware of the UN scandal. However the straw that broke the camel's back was the treatment of myself and other family members by certain elders. Anger at the hypocrisy of these so called spirit appointed men gave me the mental permission to go further and actually read CoC, sign up to this website, watch youtube videos etc. etc.
