I have an account and used to post occasionally to try and balance some of the nonsense. Of course that goes down like a lead ballon so I don't bother anymore. Hardly ever go there any more as it's bad enough listening to the JWs I know let alone going to that nest of snakes for more.

Crazy statements from JWTalk
by Jehovah lol ini'm sure many of you are aware of the jwtalk site, a message board which has yet to succumb to apostasy (give it time).. some of the forums there are visible to the public, and i've seen some crazy stuff.
here is a sampling:.
"satan is really trying his best to make things worst for the witnesses, knowing the 6,000 years is almost up, from eve's creation!".

Attendents sit at the best seats
by Quarterback inwell it's been awhile since i got angry and wanted to post on here again.
last week's watchtower about the subject of love had something to say about the hard working attendants.
it seems that they are choosing to sit in the best seats at the convention.

Fair comment curiousconfused. It was a pretty broad sweep. Of course not all, indeed probably the minority, are knowingly and consciously selfish or otherwise "bad" people however the indoctrination envelops those who are mentally in with a set of behaviours that legitimise a cultural selfishness. I was under the spell at one point and so was everyone else whilst our thinking processes, logic and reason were filtered through the WTS brand of religious justification.
So, when my wife criticises me for supporting certain charities I call her out on it. She not a heartless person, she can empathise with the suffering of people round about but she is caught in that reasoning that says it's OK for Witnesses to do nothing significant to help because it's simply a sticking plaster on a gaping wound.
I agree with you about attendants as well, I've done the job many, many times and seen first hand the worst of behaviour and the best of behaviour from both attendants and attendees.
Whilst it is fair to point out the generalisation, the point of the post is not really to condemn every person but to call out the culture that allows otherwise selfless people to have their thinking conditioned and manipulated where they cannot see the wrong in their own behaviour.

Speaking of seats what of parking? Jw selfishness is seen at its best here as well. and why do jw have to be instructed before every convention on how to behave in hotels etc. ??
Da troof is fundamentally about selfishness. The rushing to get seats, reserving of seats by those with early access, using contacts to boast about getting AAA when visiting Bethel, crowing about service privileges and all the other examples of oneupmanship you see as a Witness are symptomatic of how the beliefs promote selfishness.
After all, you consider yourself a cut about "the world". You have a sacred secret that they are too blind to see. When your ineffectual preaching methods spawn no results then it's the fault of the ignorant masses you ignore as they pass by your cart.
You are taught it's OK to benefit from the blood of others without having to contribute yourself.
You are free to ignore the oppressed, the poor, the suffering because your understanding of it's solution is some much more important and noble than actually getting your hands dirty and helping.
You can scoff at the public service of others knowing Jehovah disapproves of the secular authorities and values your neutrality rather than working to foster change for the better.
You don't have to change your values and respect all because Jehovah tells you that some people are not worth saving due to their lifestyle.
You can freely consume all the state provides in health care without ever having to be concerned about giving something back and working as a doctor, dentist or any other role that requires a university education.
In fact you can benefit from a whole host of advances in medicine, engineering, science, technology, conservation and more without being worried one iota about giving anything back since you don't have to get an education, you can just stand by your cult cart, looking at your phone, ignoring all comers - safe in the knowledge Jehovah values your so called sacred service above every other unselfish act any non witness has ever done.
Hypocrites.

I am not at all surprised to see this. There are two carts at this location in Westminster, London. I have passed this location dozens of times and there are always crowds of people around, mainly tourists there to see the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Bridge, The London Eye etc. I've never seen anyone speak to these people. They see hundreds of people an hour yet no one talks to them the whole day and they are not allowed to proactively engage.
It must be the most boring work, looking at your phone is the only distraction you get.

How do cultural norms impact Witnesses throughout the world?
by optimisticskeptic inan easy example is beards.
i hear they're not unusual in places like europe, even on appointed brothers.
it also seems like they're becoming more accepted in more liberal parts of the states.

I know an English guy who married a Canadian sister and has moved there. He had a beard in the UK and had to shave it off in his cong in the Greater Toronto area. The elders said they did not have a problem with beards (this after the recent WT article) but they did not want to stumble anyone so they did not use anyone with a beard.
So he has to knuckle under and shave his beard (which they don't have a problem with) to prove his humility so he can be used.
He's back for a week or two. What's the first thing he does? Stop shaving.

You may PRETEND to care - in reality you are SELFISH!
by wannabefree inthat;s what my wife (and all jw's) gets to hear about us at the kingdom hall today, (hmmmm, i wonder if she'll raise her hand to answer this one) ... .
watchtower study ... today, apostates and others who create divisions in the congregation use โsmooth talk and flattering speech.โ (romans 16:17, 18) they may pretend to care about others, but in reality, they are selfish.. (the watchtower - study edition (simplified version) 10/17 page 4 paragraph 7).

(The Watchtower - Study Edition (Simplified Version) 10/17 Page 4 paragraph 7)Yeah - cos when the elders come round to question you on why you are not going on the knockers any more they are doing it just cos they care and nothing to do with trying to get you to incriminate yourself as an apostate.

Difficulty fading out
by Emily1987 inthis is my first post on here so i apologize that it is like an essay!.
my husband and i are currently 'fading out' of the truth.
we stopped preaching in may 2016 and limited meeting attendance in january 2017 and stopped completely in june 2017. my main reason for this was my whole life i have been doing things to please others, even getting baptized to please my mum.

Sadly I think Jackson's video makes little difference to how things are handled on a local level. If you refuse to engage then you may get left alone but I suspect the minimum will be a local needs talk that will effectively rubber stamp shunning you. If you engage then any admission of celebrating Xmas will give them the licence to use the "disassociated by one's actions" card or even force you into DAing yourselves. You could easily be DFed as well if you get into a protracted argument.
You may have the right to fade but this only works if you shut up and don't get caught breaking the rules down the line. Faders out for years and well off the radar have more freedom but 6 months is not enough especially when you have "friends" ready to dob you in.
BTW, has your "friend" seen your tree? If not you could push back on "two witnesses" and ask why she did not speak to you first etc. But in my experience these tactics have limited value and you just end up DA/DFed.
Sorry not to be more positive...
