well thats interesting. i never heard of the 6 month thing here, maybe they take longer when they find persons who are younger. i knew someone who started at 15 and stopped this year. i have been thinking about stopping the study but then i feel bad about it. sigh. so i think i may just finish this last chapter and then decline to do anymore books

by happy-n-alive inso i am 20 now and i had my first study when i was 14. no jehovahs witness relatives and i am currently in my second book with one more chapter to go.
the reason it took so long is because it started out very sporadic andd short.
anyways, a friend and i were talking and i said i dont think i want to get baptise anytime soon and she said they may want to 'see a return on their investment' -_- so my question is if any witnesses ever got pushy with you about taking the next step after you have studied with them a long time.

i went to meeting today where this article was discussed. i honestly zoned out for most of it -_- however the parts i remember came up under materialism where the brother commented the world pushes higher education but true christians know that education is only for 'us' to be further equiped to serve God. sigh. i couldnt help but think that most of those speakers tell the congregation that, the members follow yet they (the speakers) will put their kids through university. Another part i noticed was how they portrayed the two women in the pictures. the one with the husband experiencing financial problems and the one being hit on at work. why did they have to have the one being hit on wearing eyeliner and red lipstick? was that suppose to make it look like her dress cause her to get hit on? -_- and why do these women in the mags dress so frumpy? i mean, i get the modesty thing, but some are quite young....it just looks odd.

anyways..the lady i study with decides to harass the house with relentless phone calls disturbing my mum (who doesnt like jws) for the last 3 days.
she finally got through to me today because she called super early (before 7).

hey Rebel thanx for replying. i've heard stories like the one you told alot. On one hand i can see it happening but on the other it's like i'm in denial that it would happen. guess i'm kinda sitting on the fence. i also dont like the fact that members feel like they are entitled to an explanation when i dont go to a meeting. I had an experience once where i went to a meeting and a man (whose name i didnt even know) told me that he didnt see me in a while and if i had travel (which seems to be the only accepted excuse for not going) so i said no. poor guy just stood there waiting for an explananation. i simply said i just wasnt there and walked away.

Apparently at the midweek meeting there was a question segment where they asked how the studies are commoning along and persons specifically asked her about me (wth??) and she told them i try to get to a different congregation when i dont get there. so she was calling to make sure that was true...guess her conscience was bothering her that she might be lying...or she could be just looking for info. siiiiigh, so i said sure (which wasnt entirely true on my part. i do go to other congregations sometimes but for the last 4 wks i havent) because i really wasnt about having a lenghty phonecall when i was trying to leave home to make an 8 o'clock class. ok. thats the end of my rant lol. just needed a place to vent.

hi, i also notice the part St George highlighted when i went to the meeting. It was very amusing that the magazine brought it out in such a way as to condemn other people for doing it when they themselves have done and continue to do the same thing.

all i wanted was to learn more of the bible lol, but recent events have made me notice how pushy they can be.

recent events refer to me and my bf who isnt a jw. we started talking a yr ago. i guess i was naive at the time but i went to my study conductors for advice because i thought of them as friends and because the magazines advised you to go to older ones for advice lol. suffice to say i was given the 'unequally yoked' and marriage speech which led to me breaking things off with my bf. we got back together a month later and have been together eversince only this time i didnt mention it. since then my study always seems to go back to marriage regardless of what we're talking about. before i was able to block out aspect i didnt like (like the term 'wordly' because i have really great non jw friends) but after seeing their hostility then it has made it hard not to notice certain things said in the study, at meetings and especially at this year's convention. i was going to take steps to get baptise but i have decided to focus on school for now and make the decision on if it is the right place for me later.

no one in my immediate family are witnesses. ive heard i have some distant (really distant) family who are but i'm not sure. i started studying because a lady knocked on my door and asked if i wanted to, lol. not the best of reasons but i didnt have anything better to do. the study wasnt consistent at first, mostly off and on. i started going meetings a little over 2 years ago (my mother doesnt like jws so that was partially why i wasnt going)
