  "UNTIL he arrives . . ." Why do we still celebrate the Memorial? CAUSES VS. EFFECTS

  jehovah's witnesses teach worldwide that jesus arrived in 1874 1914.. i think i must have missed the wt explanation: why do we still celebrate the memorial of jesus if he returned already?.

  1 corinthians 11:26 "for as often as you eat this loaf and drink this cup, you keep proclaiming the death of the lord, until he arrives (erchomai).".

  let's break this down.. 1. jesus christ 'returned' arrived in 1914 (cause).. 2.

  the latest as to what "until he arrives" mean: (W10 3/15 27)

  Paul also helps us to understand that those with an earthly hope do not partake of the Memorial emblems. He said to anointed Christians: “For as often as you eat this loaf and drink this cup, you keep proclaiming the death of the Lord, until he arrives.” ( 1 Cor. 11:26 ) When does the Lord ‘arrive’? When he comes to take the last of his anointed bride class to their heavenly home. ( John 14:2, 3 ) Clearly, the annual observance of the Lord’s Evening Meal is not to continue endlessly. “The remaining ones” of the woman’s seed yet on earth will continue to partake of this meal until all of them have received their heavenly reward. ( Rev. 12:17 ) If, though, those who will live forever on earth were entitled to partake of the emblems, then this Memorial meal would need to continue forever.

  I guess this makes the "cause"

  i have a feeling i am going to have to explain to my jw folks why i have decided to allow my children to participate in holidays at school.

  theyll probably be wondering too why i will get together with our non jw family for the holidays.. .

  we know jws avoid holidays because of their pagan origins.

  Wow- list is shaping up. If I can find the time I want to combine the list into a chart with references!

  Amazing how a word that means “country folk” or “stranger in town” could turn to have a religious meaning some 1200 years or so ago to now mean “non-Christian” – WT definition “BAD/SATAN”!!

  By WT standards:

  1. Is everything the WT says is pagan tied only to Nimrod, Egypt, Babylon? What about everything that we do today that is a result of Greek/ Roman culture?

  1. What non-religious things can you add to the EVERYTHING list that “pagans” invented that we do everyday?

  1. What’s the difference and what carries more gravity of badness/wrongness between something that’s pagan vs something that’s part of Satan’s world?

  (In looking from the Satan’s world point of view- the GB is using the internet- a tool of Satan to teach Jehovah’s message)

  This stupid line of reasoning of WT/GB has to be drawn somewhere!

  WT Study Article Nov. 23, 2014--Adam understood "day" to be 24 hours

  interesting admission in today's wt: adam may have understood "day" (as in "in the day you eat from it, you will positively die") to be a literal 24-hour period.

  i don't think the wt has ever said this before; the usual emphasis is that jah meant it as a figurative day, a day from his standpoint which is 1,000 years (and the article does state that, later).. however, if adam understood god's warning to be carried out in a 24 hour period, and god did nothing to alleviate that, then who did the lying?

  actually, regardless of adam's understanding, the question still stands but moving toward an admission of the use of day in that context to be 24-hours only makes the question even more valid.

  Satan knew that 1,000 yrs to GOD was one day, that's why he couldtell them they would not die. Adam and Eve only knew of 24 hours a day and later learned from not dying "that very day" that GOD's time table was not what they knew and lived day by day. We don't know how much GOD revealed himself to Adam. There is nothing to indicate that Adam had an "Abraham-like Friendship" with GOD or visa-versa.

  this film will probably win a lot of oscars.

  more than an hour's worth of footage has been shot in 70mm so it is worth seeing it in imax.

  AWESOME movie! made me wonder more and more whats is in our universe that we are not aware of.

  YHWH has a greater purpose than the words of the bible. I know its hollywood and special effects, but It made me appreciate more the depth of knowledge and wisdom of the mind of our Creator. We are truly nothing but a single grain of sand on a never ending beach!

  this post is going to suggest that the governing body remains, as ray franz wrote, "captives of a concept".

  like every jehovah's witness they were raised with the belief that the the paradise would be here by now.

  unlike others, they are in a position to do something about.. why wait to rule over the earth?

  talking about an article that makes you want to throw-up in your mouth- wt-study jan 15, 2015 the offered themselves willingly.. amazing the psych job of selling your business, moving your entire family, quiting your job to be a "temporary" worker at the new world headquarters!.

  throw your livelyhood away only to get the "feeling" that jehovahs is blessing you!

  i wish there was away to track the psych job during patterson and other major projects of what happened to all the "friends" that sold and got rid of their livelyhood then and where are they now.. did you ever sacrifce it all for a building project only to be left with nothing after your "spiritual high"?.

  What exactly is a relasionship with God?

  growing up and jw and being around them all my life i constantly heard the expression "a relasionship with god".

  this always confused me, because how do you have a relasionship with someone that doesn't talk back to you after praying?

  this was always rationalized as god talks back to you when you read the bible.

  Would the relationship be better if a child viewed their parent as a friend too?

  Abraham is the ONLY person God called friend right?

  In looking at the definition of what a friend is ONLY GOD can reach out to be our friend?

  i was taken aback that paragraph 11 basically says that a relationship with god does not even begin until after dedication and baptism.

  did anyone notice this?

  i've been trying to find any similar statements in the wtl but so far haven't come up with anything.
