  They want my kids

  ran into some jws today.

  was out to lunch at a restaurant with 2 of my kids.

  there were 2 tables full of jws, i wondered what the occasion was.

  To Josie: My kids don't like it that their parents are treated this way. My younger kids don't like JWs, if they are out playing and someone with suit and tie drives in, they run inside. The older kids said they don't want any part of it either.

  To Carmel: yes I step back and let my kids made decisions, even when I can see it isn't the best thing for them to be doing. I never pushed my kids to be witnesses when we were all in. I wanted it to come from their heart and not feel forced to do things, so they didn't join the TM School until they were older and could handle the assignments. Our oldest got baptized at 18 because he wanted to, at the time, I thought he wasn't ready yet but kept my mouth shut. When I found out the truth about the truth, I kept it to myself for a long time until my family questioned me because I wasn't so enthusiastic about it anymore. Then I showed them what I had learned. When my husband and I left we told our children why and didn't let the younger kids go. the older one went for a time, until something happened and then he quit too.

  Ran into some JWs today. Was out to lunch at a restaurant with 2 of my kids. There were 2 tables full of JWs, I wondered what the occasion was. The JWs couldnt return my greeting of hello to them, (Im not da or df). They did however carry on a conversation with my sons. One is in his 20s and moved out and married, the other is a teenager and still at home. The JWs were asking about where the older one lived.

  I hate the fact that they try to target my kids. When we first left the CO came to see our oldest son. We work together at our family business and I was working the counter when the CO came in with another brother. He asked to speak with M for a few minutes, so I called him to the front and then pretended to be busy. Apparently the accompanying brother didnt tell the CO who I was. The CO started talking about my husband and me to our son and told our son that you dont always have to listen to your parents, and you dont always have to obey them. I didnt say a word and eventually the CO left.

  The very next day the CO came back and said:Sadie, I didnt realize who you were. I was so angry at him and I told him I did not appreciate what he had said to our son and that he was telling our son to disrespect us. I told him that you are not going to split this family apart. I then told him he would have to leave as I was very upset with him. Of course there was another brother with him and several different renditions of this were spread through several congregations. I was a marked woman from then on for speaking my mind to the CO.

  The CO did come back on his next visit a few months later, he apologized to me and brought me some printed out article from the bound volume, ones about dont hate Jehovah and stuff like that. We had a long talk and he said he felt I had drawn away disciple after me(my own family) but they werent going to do anything if I kept my mouth shut to others outside my family and my husband was my head, so they would have to deal through him to deal with me.

  On his next visit he came to our house, and my husband answered the door. He stood in the doorway, blocking the COs entrance. The younger kids were playing behind my husband. The CO said, he had come to see the children to see how they were, if they missed their friends at the Kingdom Hall. He called out to them and tried to go around my husband. My husband is a big man and just leaned toward the CO and said why dont you leave my kids out of this? The CO nearly fell backwards, the brother behind him looked shocked that my husband would do this. They left and never came back. Theres been rumors that my husband has said he does not want witnesses at our home and so no one has been by in over 3 years.

  But they try to talk or keep in contact with our kids.

  Rejection

  i faithfully attended all the meetings at the local kingdom hall...someone was studying with me...i went out in field service.but i never got invited to any of their social events.this hurt me so bad i stopped going to meetings.just curious,anyone else ever experience shunning?

  Welcome to the board. yes, we were hardly ever invited to social gatherings. Our oldest son got baptized thinking he would get invited. the invitations did pick up a bit for him, but we were still marked for some reason.

  I wonder about the people in these congregations

  that bill, barb& joe and the pandello attended.

  i know they are all separate congregations in different areas.

  but are all these people just sitting back watching this happen?

  that Bill, Barb& Joe and the Pandello attended. I know they are all separate congregations in different areas. But are all these people just sitting back watching this happen? Don't they find it strange that people who bring this problem out are being df while those who commit the crime don't get df and don't get arrested either.

  And if they truly believe divisions are being caused, then what side do they want to be on? Those who molest children/or support child molesters or the victims and those who speak out and try to bring justice. Seems like a no brainer to me. Are they really that dense or that guilty?

  Bill & Sheila, our thoughts and prayers are with you. You've helped so many silent lambs, and we all appreciate it.

  The WT Society has clearly shown whose side they are on. I am sickened that I ever was a part of their organization. The leaders are terrible people who would rather hide criminals who cause harm to children and try to silence those who have spoken out in the victims behalf. All to make their organizaton look pure and clean.

  I hope the tower comes crumbling down.

  # 9, a variety of science, history, business, religion, how-to and novels. I've been borrowing more books from the library lately because we don't have room for very many more books. I might donate some to the library too, to make room for new ones.

  What one church in my area is doing

  there's been quite a few lay-offs and job losses in our area.

  one of the churches in our area is providing food to people at a very reduced price.

  it is name brand food, meats, fruits and veggies.

  There's been quite a few lay-offs and job losses in our area.(Is there anywhere that hasn't?). One of the churches in our area is providing food to people at a very reduced price. It is name brand food, meats, fruits and veggies. You don't have to fill out forms to qualify, just order the food, pay for it and you go to the church about 10 days later to pick it up.

  When you pick up the food, the church members hand you an invitation to their church and that is it. They let you know that they have clothing if there is a need also. They call you and let you know when they are ordering again and that's about it. No pushing their beliefs on you. I did find the whole group thing a little strange feeling to me. Like they were calling each other brother and sister. I don't think I could ever get back into a group setting like that again.

  What I found amusing was that if I was still a JW, I wouldn't have participated in this program. Would have been demon food if the church was involved. My family would have been eating a lot of beans and corn bread, or gone hungry. JW's would never do a program like this. My oldest son remarked that if the WT Society did do something like that, they would mark up the prices of the food so that they made a profit, and would use the people's information to push magazines on them.

  My son also told me that he visited a JW family that still talks to him. He recognized that they had the same food that we had. they said they got the food at a reduced price too. I don't know if a non-JW family member got it for them or what. I was glad they were able to take advantage of it too. Hope they don't get DF for trying to feed their family.

  I'm thankful that this church sees a need and tries to help. Magazines and books aren't going to feed people when they are hungry. JW's truly look silly, when they think they are providing some great service to people in need by handing them a WT and AWAKE. Even Jesus fed the hungry real food.

  Sick kids at the KH

  this always irked me, when little children were brought to the meetings and they were sick.

  i remember one little girl would cough through an entire meeting.

  they brought her like that for months, they said they didn't know what was wrong with her.

Do you think you ought to expose everyone if you don't know what it is. Wouldn't she feel better at home next to a vaporizer?Or children running fevers and sleeping in chairs. "He's had a temperature of 102 all day long", one parent said.

  Anyone else see this, or was our hall the only one that had parents like this?

  Spare the rod and spoil the child?

  i saw a report on tv just now of how two baptist mininisters beat the living daylights out of some kid for not attending the correct bible class.

  the kid suffered kidney damage and the ministers have been arrested.

  this reminded me of how my jw brother used to take his boys out the back and beat them black and blue every time his patience ran out with them for not sitting still for 2+ hours.

  This is one of the reasons my husband and I were looked upon as spiritually week. We have 5 children and and when they were babies/toddlers we never spanked them for not being able to sit through the meetings. Sometimes for the two hour meetings we would just choose to attend one of them and leave or come in late. the kids could hardly sit through Barney or Sesame Street, and they liked those shows.

  If we did attend both meetings, we would give ourselves and the kids a little break at the end of one and beginning of another by going ourside the building and letting them walk around a little. We did this with assemblies too, never attending a full day, just choosing certain sections of it. Eventually the kids were able to sit quietly through an entire two hours, we were complimented on how behaved they were.

  Of course the elders didn't like it, not being there for all our spiritual food. I said they can't eat an adult's portion in literal food, why should we expect them to eat a full portion of spiritual food?

  I can still remember the cries and screams from the restrooms, it was usually the same kids.
