  last night i was visiting with one of my friends who works at the local police dept.

  she was talking about a guy that had to come in and register as a sex offender.

  he claims that this girl said she was 18, was really only 13 and he was convicted of rape, served 1 year in jail.

  Last night I was visiting with one of my friends who works at the local police dept. She was talking about a guy that had to come in and register as a sex offender. He claims that this girl said she was 18, was really only 13 and he was convicted of rape, served 1 year in jail. He must now register as a sex offender at the police dept wherever he lives. Street address, no Post Office Box address. The dept of corrections sends out letters and they are not forwarded to a new address. They are returned and a $5,000 fine is issued for failure to register. He will have to register FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE.

  My mind immediately contrasted this to the "punishment" the WT inflicts upon it's known molesters.( No privileges in the congregation) It struck me how truly dumb the WT arrangement is. They take extremely lightly, something that the goverment has determined is very serious.

  I went on to tell my friend about the cover up of child molesters in the JW organization, and how they allow convicted molesters to go door to door as dateline showed. She was shocked.

  i just heard this on the news, has anyone else heard it?

  i can't find info about it on the web.

  i think they said 6 jws were kidnapped, 2 beheaded now.

  yes it is on msnbc.com also. It is very sad and scary. My prayers are with the surviving ones and their families that waiting.

  A Guest: thank you for your comments. Looks like you've done some research on this before. thanks for sharing. So much of what JWs say and practice are not related to scripture, as they claim.

  Wait on Jehovah. Don't run ahead of the organization. The Truth. Don't bring reproach on Jehovah's name. Spiritually weak. Jehovah's organization. Governing body. Body of Elders.

  Are they based on the Bible? If so what scriptures? When were these terms introduced into the JW vocabulary. I threw out all my WT stuff so I can't look anything up.

  I am thinking of putting together a file that I will send to law enforcement agencies about this problem in the JWs. I have several friends that work for our local police dept. and I was thinking of talking to them about how to do this. I think the police need to know and be reminded about the pedofiles going door to door. I find that so creepy. Children are being taken from their homes, molested and killed. Going door to door would be an easy way to find potential victims.

  My 6 year old has difficulty going to sleep at night. He has a fear that someone will break in and take him. When I was that age, I only had difficulty sleeping if I watched a scary show. What a difference.

  Ever feel truly embarrassed to admit you were a JW? These days I sure do. It's like admitting you were part of Jim Jones's cult or a Moonie or a Nazi, or something worse. I'm going to put my efforts into educating the public about this organization as much as I can. JWs either want to believe the GB, they won't check any other sources or bury their heads in the sand and deny it. By this they are either child molesters or supporter of them. They lack a conscience.

  is goal setting good or bad?

  sounds like the title of an awake!

  goal setting can be very good in that it gives direction, purpose and accomplishment in a person's life.

  It used to bother me that there was no understanding of slowing down during the busy times of one's life. One year, I was extremely busy with family responsibilities. My elderly mom had surgery and needed care upon returning home, one of my children had sustained injuries from a car accident. And to top it all off, I found out I was pregnant at 40.

  My days were filled with Dr. appointments and caring for my mom and child as well as the normal day to day things. At night time, I was exhausted. I cut my meeting attendance way back, some weeks not going at all. I cut my field service back too, I had neither the time nor desire to find bible studies. My plate was full.

  My reasoning was this: only I could take care of my unborn child and myself during this pregnancy. It was my responsibility to care for my aging parent and child. There are other people that could place magazines, start Bible studies. I could resume those things once my personal life had less problems in it.

  Of course, I was looked upon as being weak for not being able to balance it all and nobody came over to help me, because I wasn't spiritual enough. I was approached about being irregular, asked if there wasn't some way I could be doing more. It was a very low and depressing time for me but I tried to put their words out of my mind and just concentrated on the things I could do and commended myself.

  It wasn't the final straw, but it helped me to start seeing what this organization truly was. Things did work out for the best.

  I MAY HAVE HIT BOTTOM

  i thought i'd hit it several times before...as i have been thru the divorce over the past couple of years...lost all my so-called friends...lost my belief in what i thought was the "truth"....and now my own loving daughter, being the good little dub she is has told me she doesn't want me to walk her down the aisle at her wedding.

  she told me today at lunch.

  i almost threw up.

  I am saddenned to hear what you are going through. I would urge you to talk with or write to your daughter and share your feelings. I don't think children realize these times are important to parents too.

  When our oldest son got married, there were a lot of problems on her side. Her parents are divorced and remarried and there was a lot of quarreling over the wedding between her 2 sets of parents(they are not JWs). Anyway my son and his bride said they would just elope and stop the fighting. Both of her parents said they wouldn't have a problem with that. I spoke up and said I would have a problem. I was crying but begged them not to cut us out of this event. So they had a small ceremony and all the parents came, I was glad I said something.

  Hope things improve for you.
