I had already decided a long time ago even while still in, that when some type of instruction was presented as mentioned in the OP, that I would be going as fast as possible in the other direction. For you fellow faders (who are family heads), it might give your family an out, if they can say they were only following your instructions as a family head, when you 'forced' them to ignore the instructions.

More fear and paranoia WT-style! (11/15/13 WT)
by LostGeneration ini usually dismiss the "drinking the kool aid" scenarios that are posted from time to time, but the latest wt has another bit of fearmongering.
the quote from page 20, para 17. elders who are reading this article can draw some useful conclusions from the account we have just considered: (1) the most practical step that we can take to prepare for the coming attack of the assyrian is that of strengthening our faith in god and helping our brothers to do the same.
(2) when the assyrian attacks, the elders must be absolutely convinced that jehovah will deliver us.

Revelation Climax book - what are the most ridiculous claims in it?
by RayPublisher ini got to thinking about all the strange interpretations in the old revelation climax book now that i have perused it again on pdf.
(thanks atlantis!).
does anyone care to toss in their two cents on what are the most outrageous and/or ridiculous claims in it?.

I always thought equating the trumpet blasts to the old conventions you mentioned and the release of their resolutions was the most bizarre interpretation. It was really hard to get through those studies with a straight face.

NINE REVERSALS IN JULY 15TH WATCHTOWER
by The Searcher inhere's what i scavenged from the most notable watchtower i've ever read.
it may be far more significant than many people realise!.
and before anyone whinges that one or two are 'old light', the fact remains that all of them are rejecting what was once 'inspired truth' from the revered fds, and disagreeing with any one of these (now current) falsehoods would have resulted in your "stoning to death" and shunning by all whom you loved.

I really have mixed emotions about attending this particular set of studies. Perhaps I can make it through the first without standing up on a chair and screaming that this is all nonsense. Maybe not. If I do go, I will try to get a chair on the side so I can see most of the faces of the audience. I suspect that the elders will be well-prepared to answer during those uncomfortable moments when nobody raises their hands. A few of the other hard-core regulars can be counted-on to read back what is directly stated in the paragraph. I'm curious as to the mix of bobble-head agreement there will be compared to those who are just seeing the material for the first time (a large %) and having a WTF moment.
My wife has no idea what the overlapping generation thing is about and it is apparently not important to her. Perhaps this too will just fall into that category of 'deeper' things that we just can't understand (right away). Then we will have follow-up demos at the CA with a young MS admitting to an elder that he is a bit confused about it. The elder will just put his hand on his shoulder and tell him not to worry about it and just trust the GB.
Might be a good time to plan a stumbled exit to the door.

STRAIGHT FROM THE HORSE'S MOUTH! Possible shift in position from the WTBTS on the global vs local deluge.
by marmot ina buddy of mine recently sent me a link to the official wtbts facebook page and i thought what the hey, let's see what they have to say about the question that made me fade in the first place.
much to my surprise, they answered!
you may already be aware that the general position of jehovah's witnesses is briefly stated here:.

Funny that they never site the account in Luke: from online NWT:
Moreover, just as it occurred in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of man: 27 they were eating, they were drinking, men were marrying, women were being given in marriage, until that day when Noah entered into the ark, and the flood arrived and destroyed them all. 28 Likewise, just as it occurred in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building. 29 But on the day that Lot came out of Sod′om it rained fire and sulphur from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 The same way it will be on that day when the Son of man is to be revealed.
Sounds pretty local to me: parallel language

Ok. Great. So when did these scientists say this occurred? When did this "One such flood' occur?
Geologists studying the landscape of the northwestern United States believe that as many as 100 ancient catastrophic floods once washed over the area. One such flood is said to have roared through the region with a wall of water 2,000 feet [600 m] high, traveling at 65 miles an hour [105 km/hr]—a flood of 500 cubic miles [2,000 cu km] of water, weighing more than two trillion tons. Similar findings have led other scientists to believe that a global flood is a distinct possibility.
I'm pretty sure that all kinds of stuff happened in earth's history that nobody was around to witness.

Why do the GB need a new Bethel compound if the end is so close? Here is the "official" answer
by sir82 inas most of us know, the society is spending 10's of millions of dollars on a giant, state of the art, secluded bunker country club headquarters in very remote, isolated warwick ny.. the question that "some" have is, why?
if armageddon is coming "very soon", why go to all that time & effort & expense?
why have thousands of jws dedicating their time to this massive effort instead of the "lifesaving ministry"?.

Without doubt, once they are setup, they will invite all the friends from NYC (at least from Brooklyn) to come up to the farm for their safety (not). Soon after, other witnesses will be invited. They will probably begin to buy surrounding farmland. The walled city project will have begun. A two-tier system will appear with the Bethel family calling the shots( nothing new. They are entitled) . Everyone outside the compund gets to plant potatoes (which are delivered to the compound for storage). I picture them easily being overrun WTSHTF. Can anyone picture Splane doing hand-to-hand combat with the zombies? I didn't think so...

How can I stop hating the JW religion?
by marriedtoajw inhaving this spiritual division between my wife and i over the years has been very draining in many ways.
so much so that i find myself more and more hating everything having to do with the wtbts especially when i just see watchtower literature.
i've kind of always felt that way but it's getting worst.

You could also try 'studying' the upcoming WT study article highlighting your questions and issues with what is said. Then leave it open on the kitchen table next to her Daily Text. Ask her to explain what it means. Occasionally you can put an older WT next to it that states something contradictory and then ask which is it. You don't need too go far back. You will find find lots of differences between WT study material and public version.

Proof of Noah's Flood - Presently watching a Documentary about Europe & the Ice Age
by *lost* infirst time i ever heard anyone say there was 'proof' of noah's flood.. very interesting,.
showed a trawler, where the team dredges regularly in the north sea - for animal bones, massive land animal bones, mammoths.. he said, originally, the bones were sent for analysis, and the dr stated, they were proof of noah's flood.. the north sea area was a land mass of dry grazing lands.
and it was very similar to africa.. many bones were found in london, of lions, hippos, etc ... when they were digging out the underground.. .

@2+2=5: I'm just trying to approach it from a different angle to discredit the WTS. Let's just assume the account as described is true (which I don't). Could it have happened in 2370BC as the WTS teaches? If we can get someone to at least agree that this doesn't make any sense, perhaps they will start to question other things the WTS teaches/promotes.

Wouldn't it just makes sense for GOD to...
by confusedandalone injust one day perform some form of miracle in front of the entire earth in which he proves he exists???.
wouldn't this be the most loving and sensible thing to do?
for instance, this coming thursday god repeatedly strikes mount kilamanjaro to the point that it reads in hebrew, "god exists, i just did this.

@Seraphim23: let's just hope that it is not the God of the Hebrew scriptures/OT - the God of Armies.

@BOTH: sorry again. I didn't want to suggest that 'experminental' sounds like unqualified of uncredentialed. If you mean you are a history buff or interested in archeology, that's great. If I had a chance to do it all over again, I would probably choose either archeology or linguistics. Peace. If I told you I was an 'experimental' gynecologist what would you conclude? Perhaps 'experimental' was a bad choice of words and you meant: amateur. Nothing wrong with that.
Could I ask if English is your native language?
