It will probably be as you expect. Lots of 'good to see you again' and possibly one or two holy ones that avoid you like you were carrying ebola. To be honest, I envy your position. You are in control, there is nothing they can do about it, and you have your whole life ahead of you. Don't mess this opportunity up...

Going to a meeting for the first time in a while- love bombing expected
by DuvanMuvan inlong story short, i have to go to the kh on tuesday with my mum and i havent been in at least a month now.
the reaon im going is because when i got my mum to finally let me make my own decision about whether or not i want to be a jw she made me promise that i'd go to the memorial, assemblies and if she had a talk.
she's already told me that people have been asking for me and only a few people in my cong know that i dont think it's the truth.. when i was trying to leave a couple brothers really piled on the "encouragement" and i dread to think about what it will be like when they see me again.

Blood doctrine discussed on popular TV program this morning in Poland
by FadeToBlack inso my wife watched one of the morning talk shows today (questions for breakfast) after seeing an advertisement on tv yesterday about why jw's dont' accept blood.
she thought it was going to be a presentation by someone from bethel but it ended up featuring a disfellowshipped jw that stated the jws were a sect and individuals did not make this choice of their own free will.
i wasn't watching, just listening from the other room.

@Vidiot: that would be gówno. But she actually said: Co za głupoty? Which is more politely - What is this nonsense/stupidity. So my bad.
@Kate: she is still a bit defensive. But I think that is normal. Prior investment is hard to let go of.

LillyC, don't give up. It is not that bad. You'll figure it out. Yes, the forum is a bit behind the times technically, but here, the conversations are important, not the presentation.

Ok. Found the link. If anyone is interested I can try to tranlate to English.
JW's Why don't they agree to blood transfusions?
22 -year-old victim of knife fight fighting for his life in the Poznan hospital. He was seriously hurt , although he does not agree to blood transfusion ... Why Jehovah's Witnesses do not agree on transfusions and how to save such a patient ?
Why was a JW in a knife fight to begin with? Just noticed video already has 31,000 views since this morning.

So my wife watched one of the morning talk shows today (Questions for Breakfast) after seeing an advertisement on TV yesterday about why JW's dont' accept blood. She thought it was going to be a presentation by someone from Bethel but it ended up featuring a disfellowshipped JW that stated the JWs were a sect and individuals did not make this choice of their own free will. I wasn't watching, just listening from the other room. She was livid. Her basic response was - what is this shit? (In Polish).
When it got over she was on the phone calling her friends and at least one of the elders. She wanted someone to alert Bethel so they could demand equal time (like they weren't watching it?). The funny thing is she did not want to talk about it at all with me and hasn't brought it up. Probably because I had mentioned that I wanted to see if they were going to discuss why the JW's would accept fractions now, but not whole blood and even more strange why they couldn't donate.
They haven't put the link up, but if I find it, I will post some of the translated dialog with the link.
They also had a surgeon on the discussion and it seemed to mainly focus on a recent case that involved a 10 year old boy that generated some waves. -

When you die, you are dead. Life is precious, enjoy it (but don't be an a**hole). My current approach to things.

So how many of us had guilt pangs because our WT was not highlighted?
by cultBgone inwe attended several different congregations in different states, and the one common thread among them all was...if you had your study article highlighted, you were a good jw.. honestly, how often did you cover over your magazine when the attendant walked by handing out copies to visitors?.
sheesh.
would anyone believe how weird this organization really is?.

I could never understand what the point was of highlighting something written at a 4th grade level that we were going to read together anyway and then recite the answer to straight from the paragraph. Often, the questions are longer than the paragraph. It is not like the paragraphs were several hundred words long and the point we wanted to make was buried somewhere in the text. To me, this was always the equivalent of a WT study:
1. The red fox saw the black dog and ran under the fence.
Questions for paragraph 1.
1a. What did the red fox do when it saw the black dog?
1b. What color was the red fox?
If the WT conductor was more progressive, he might also ask (preparing us for the material in paragraph 2) - why do you think the red fox ran under the fence? Of course, some friends would be incensed that he was acting so independently and asking questions not included in the material. Plus, he always ran the risk that the audience would not be prepared to go off-script, and could not formulate a spontaneous off the cuff response (or were afraid to) and he would encounter that awkward moment when nobody raises their hands.

What was the most rebellious thing you did while you were a devout jw?
by DuvanMuvan ini was just thinking about how humans being imperfect and satan's influence was the root of everything bad that anyone has ever done.
well i know that apparently everyone is vulnerable which got me thinking about what "bad" things people have done while they were a jw.
i'll start it off.

What if we were never that devout? Does it count as rebellious or does it fall into the category of normal but stuck in a cult?

Mr. Spane also mentioned that the thorn in our flesh could be the brother or sister in our congreagation with their own rules. Not the rules found in the bible or in the organizations publications. I was like: Hello, anyone listening?

by suavojr inhere is the situation.... a young 19 year old in our congo had a fallout with his parents because of all the restrictions and jw dogma and moved out of the house last wednesday.. to make the story short, the parents went running to the elders and what was the comfort?.
coe said: i saw that coming!
your son never reached out to get baptized.. then the other elder said: don't worry, you still have one left that will be saved.

Start from the beginning. I doubt you will make it to Exodus. Just ask questions about what you read.
