WT's 2 BOE Letters Flip-Flop!
by JW GoneBad ineveryone knows about the recent across-the-board okay to use electronic devices in jw worship.
few, though, know about how not long ago it was considered a taboo.. first, there was that dc talk a couple of years back where they nearly demonized simply the ownership of a smart phone, ipads (i phones, blackberries, etc) let alone the use of them at meetings.
they brought out that they were a waste of time, expensive and that they exposed a christian to satan's world on the internet.

Jehovah only uses honest mean in directing his flock... except that one guy
by confusedandalone inyesterday in yet another attempt to get me back to jehovah's organization of faithful men, we began to argue.
when i asked her how she could possibly trust the men leading this organization who have lied over and over again about everything we believe.
she literally scream ed at me and said, "the men jehvoah uses in this organization to take the lead are standup men who always have the best intentions for the flock.".

I remember a situation in Orlando FL area many years ago. The CO was Lett (Peter, I believe). Great speaker. Needed a new car. What was offered wasn't good enough. He wanted a new Mercedes. He got it. Anf then, he promptly left the circuit work and was suddenly "Dr. Lett" - peddling vitamins and homeopathic treatments. Last thing I remember about him was a picture in the local paper being hauled away in handcuffs for practicing medicine without a license. Not sure what happened after that.

I will have to check out the scene in Warsaw this Spring. With bad weather approaching here in Poland, I can't imagine this would be a popular gig. Spring and summer, yes. But as someone else mentioned they are competing with so many others for attention, they are basically just background noise. Besides, if someone is really interested can't they just go to jw.org and get what they want annonymously?

Finally Got to Be the Saturday Morning Householder
by mrquik ini visited relatives out of state this weekend and sure enough watched two witnesses going door to door approach the house.
i casually walked out to the front yard and, sure enough an older brother with a young married man in tow came over to me.
i let them go through the usual speil & took the magazines.

My recent experience was a bit different. We live out of territory, so we don't always know the 'friends' coming thru the neighborhood. I heard the dogs barking like crazy and sure enough when I looked out the window I saw 3 pairs of JW's shuffling down our dirt road. 1 brother and 5 sisters. The Brother and a young sister come to the gate and ring the bell. Dogs are going ape-shit! I tell my wife: some of your JW friends are at the gate. She wanted me to go out and tell them she was sick (she was making breakfast and not dressed)! I said: don't worry, they'll go away in a minute. And they did.
The strange thing for me was the fact that usually she goes out to meet them, invite them in for tea if the weather is cold or offer to use the bathroom. Maybe she got a feel for how annoying that Saturday morning visit can be when all you want to do is have some coffee and make some scrambled eggs. Reverse witness would have been hard for me since I don't speak the language. But, you did a good job. Maybe I will get to try it when I return to visit family in the US soon.

Watchtower Society Has Systemically, Methodically Over The Years, Caused All JWs Diabolically To Worship Watchtower Headquarters Leadership [or G.B.]!
by bjc2read in(of course, this will be "old news" to many of you...but, this is especially written for the "newbies" who may not know of the following.).
... i was just wondering .... .
i remember back when i was very active among the jehovah's witnesses, the watchtower society recommended a special procedure they used to do to put pressure upon bible studies of jehovah's witnesses by doing something they called: "directing attention to the organization.

It always sounded strange to me (directing people to the org ASAP). I just encouraged people to read the bible and make a decision based on what they read.

Major goof in the Sept 1 WT article on Babel and the origin of languages
by marmot injust wanted to point out something that another poster brought up in the thread on the agm rumours, the writing department included a photo of a cuneiform tablet in their article on the origin of languages with a caption that states it is from 3000 bc.
this would pre-date the global flood myth and the fanciful tower of babel story altogether, hah!.

AnnOMaly, I was under the impression that Job was actually based on much older non-Hebrew texts, but must recheck references. Hey, eveyone likes a good story, right?

Great music. What's wrong with the audience? Are they all doing 'ludes' or just busy with their iPhones?

@Shirley: that's where I thought you were heading... I feel like a third wheel. Carry on. I need to dig up all the old threads about Job now. Thanks.

Shirley, when was Job written? I seem to recall some earlier threads that suggest from the langauge that it was actually one of the oldest texts. Certainly not Hebrew. But yes, I get the whole 'sphere/circle' thing.
