Just started to read. I will try to finish it this year. Are you at all interested in corrections for typos, etc? I have already noticed a few. Not trying to diminish your excellent work. I know from past experience that it doesn't matter how many times you proofread your own work, you will never notice some very obvious errors.

Electric Cordless Yard Tools - Does Anyone Else Use Them?
by RubaDub ini must say, i have had my battery mower, trimmer, blower for about a year now and could not be happier (ryobi 40 volt stuff).
the same battery works in everything.
just plug and play.. yes, they are more expensive to purchase, probably 30% to 50% more than gas.

I'd be interested in the weed wacker. Actually, I have been considering getting a few other tools (drill/screw driver) but I'd like to also get a solar charging station for recharging the batteries. Has anyone already gone down this path or done the math as to how much is required. I don't need instant recharge. I just don't want to be dependent on a functioning electrical system. It would be nice to have some functioning power tools available even in the situation where the power was out, plus no fossil fuel burning to keep them charged.

My wife who was working at the information desk at the Warsaw airport for the recent International convention this summer had to change her yellow blouse to a white one (she must have missed the memo) when she got there one day. Same goofy flowing scarves (different color but all had to be the same=unity).
I saw on several emails she got from coordinators the same strange question: Is there joy? To which of course everyone had to reply: yes! Even at a later post convention cook-out at the end when they were giving coordinators gifts, the same question was asked. And everyone shouted: yes! I was hiding in the bushes...

@Simon: yes, I had the same experience in my career working at multiple software/tech/telecom companies. It was also the same for me moving out of the US. Once I was out for a few years, I began to realize what a totally disfunctional country it was and still is. Not going back.

One thing she alluded to was true in my case. Once you are outside you normal environment (comfort zone) and have some space, it all starts to fall apart. When I moved from the US to Poland nobody expected anything from me anymore. Yes, I went to meetings and out in service but I had a lot more space. I wasn't so busy, I actually had time to think. They (JW.org/WT) don't want you to think - they already have 'smart' people that have done that for you.

Cost of Attending the International Conventions
by RubaDub ini have never been invited/requested/applied to any international convention, other than it happening to be our own convention in new york city where we were already assigned (i think back and maybe this happened two times or so when i was growing up).. anyway, people here keep commenting about the cost to attend; the inflated airfares, rooms, transportation, etc.. does anyone have some actual numbers to provide?
i realize that the cost of attending a convention in a different country will be affected by some variations in airfare from the departure city but generally how much do these things cost?
are they comparable to a tour from an expedia, travelocity or other travel site?.

Good question. And as I asked in another thread, are they having more of them? Could be a cash-cow. No sense trying to get money from poor JWs.

Update time: Wife worked at info desk Monday and Tuesday from 11am -10PM. It was too late to come home so she got to stay in one of the comp rooms. Tuesday she got home early (9pm). Lots of trinkets exchanged with delegates. Today she had to go to a 'meeting' for volunteers somewhere else in Warsaw. Tomorrow she is at another info desk and then Friday to opening day of convention. Of course, she is all weepy relating how wonderful all of this is.
I had to take our visiting delegate to her hotel - it was time to officially check-in. Warsaw was already crawling with delegates when we got there at around 13:00. It was hard to get from the train station to the hotel without running into them. At the hotel there were 4 or 5 sisters outside welcoming us. Inside there were about 20 more all lined up and smiling and waving on the way to the registration desk. It had a kind of creepy beauty-pagent quality about it. I got our guest in line and told her I had to go. There were 2 young brothers by the JW info-desk playing KM songs softly on a guitar and some type of flute.
It was good I saw it first because when I got home I read some JW emails to my wife from the hospitality coordinators with PDF's describing how to dress and behave. Lots of emphasis on 'big-smiles'. So far nobody has invited me to the convention! I

Thanks for that information. I am still planning to visit the convention just to meet some of the 'apostates'.
